1 New Network Elements and other Features

1.1 BCTRAN Transformer

The network element BCTRAN Transformer can be used to simulate 3-phase transformers with 2 or 3 windings based on ATP's BCTRAN transformer model. For more information please read the ATP Rule Book Chapter XIX-C. Single-phase transformers are NOT supported in the dialog shown below. 2- or 3-Windings Delta and WYE connection supported Neutral point connection for all windings Winding 3 can be used as short-circuit Delta winding (Dsc) User friendly data input using list boxes and corresponding edit fields The settings dialog is designed closed to the ATP parameters specified in the ATP Rule Book.

An example how to use the BCTRAN transformer model implemented in ATPDesigner has been prepared in the .NET file PowerNetwork_10.NET.

1.2

3-Phase Source

The network element 3-Phase Source can be used to realise a symmetrical, 3-phase voltage or current source, which is user selectable. The phase shift of the three phases are 120 as typical for a 3-phase eletrical power network. Differences to the network element Network Infeed The network element 3-Phase Source doesn't consist of any additional impedance.

1.3

Splitter

Splitter can be used to Connect 1-Phase and 3-Phase Network Elements. Different Operating Modes can be selected. The Splitter can also been used to measure the phase currents IA, IB and IC and the node-to-node voltage across the Splitter. The user can choose between several ATP based models to measure the phase currents and the node-to-node voltages. See the .NET file PowerNetwork_9.NET for Splitter and Empirical Function.

1.4

Empirical Function

The network element Empirical Function can be used to infeed a total random shape of a voltage or current depending on the users requirements. The user can define the voltage or current point by point means sample by sample at each time step. According the ATP Rule Book some basic rules should be considered. This network element is represents the ATP Source Type-1. See the .NET file PowerNetwork_9.NET for Splitter and Empirical Function. Please note that the text file PowerNetwork_9.TXT contains the samples to realise the three Empirical Functions. Read the explanations in the text frame Empirical Function contained in the .NET file for more detailled informations.

1.5

Print / Print Preview

Power network graphics and diagrams can be now printed or presented using print preview.

Right Mouse Button Menu

Menu Item and Toolbar Button Open Diagram Opens the .PL4 file which was calculated based on the electrical power network shown in the active power network view. o o o o Click on the view which shows the electrical power network Open Diagram via Right Mouse Button Menu or toolbar button .PL4 file which corresponds with the active power network will be loaded and displayed as a diagram CTRL + 4 can be also used

Menu Item and Toolbar Button Enable / Disable The network element can be enabled or disabled for the network simulation processed by ATP If the network element is disabled, it will be drawn as part of the network using the olor for Disabled Network Elements, but it will be NOT taken into account for the network simulation. The Color of Disabled Network Elements can be choosen: Network Configuration, Graphic Colors

2.7

Network Configuration

This property page contains several sheets. The sheet ATP Control File Config Data can be used to modify ATP related settings. The ATP related settings IOUT, EPSILN, IDOUBLE and TOLMAT can be set now. The Format of the Miscellaneous Data Card can be selected.

The dialog woud be completed with the options UP and DOWN for the drawing directions.

2.10 Text Frame

The size of dialog to define the content of a text frame is now resizable. The size of the edit filed which contains the text will be automatically adapted, if the size of the dialog will be changed.

2.11 Signal Analysis Settings

The figure below shows the dialog to define the Signal Analysis Settings. These settings concern different signal analysis functions. Some of the settings are directly related to the Measuring Schemes Distance Protection and Differential Protection used for protection relays. The settings shown in the group box Signal Analysis are used to calculate impedances or voltages and currents of the positive-sequence system and negative-sequence system (12-System) based on the MODELS modul of ATP. The Signal Analysis settings are also part of the dialog ATP Data. Read more details in the chapter Signal Analysis Settings of the Help File.
