Multimedia Computing Assignment - 3

Objective: 1. Capture (or find) at least three digital video files. You can use a Digital Camcorder (or other software). 2. Compose (or edit) a small MIDI file with audio-manipulation software. 3. Create (or find) at least one WAV file. You may digitize your own. 4. Use Photoshop to create a title, and an ending. 5. Other software that you have already known. 1.Capturing Video: Using a mobile phones built in camera., 3 videos are shot. The resolution of the camera is set to 2.2MegaPixels.The format chosen for recording is mpeg-2.The quality is set for high definition. The video output will be 1280x720 pixels in 16:9 aspect ratio. The video is imported onto the pc via pc connector chord(USB).The videos are located on the memory of the camera and they are copied onto the hardisk in the system. 3.Creating WAV file: First a audio file is recorded using a mobile phones audio recorder option. This will save the file in amr format which is the raw format available on the mobile phones. This file is then imported onto the pc and is opened in a audio editing software called Audacity which is free, full-fledged and it is developed by open-source community. In this software., first noise reduction is done by selecting a strip of wave-form where noise is present. From this noise profile is generated by selecting the option generate noise profile under effects>noise removal option. In the next step., the whole audio waveform is selected and from effects option noise removal is selected. This will work on the audio for a while and provides a new wave form where in there is no more noise present. Now the audio is fully repaired and it can be saved onto the system by exporting it as a .wav file.In order to convert this waveform into a wav file, from the file menu, export option is to be choosen. Here we provide the destination and format of exporting which will be .wav.On pressing Save option, the exporting process will be complete and we will have a .wav audio file.

4.Create movie credit images on Photoshop: A new project is opened on photoshop.A size of 1280x720 is chosen so that it matches the size of original video. The whole background is selected to be in Black color. This is saved as a back up for further images which will be used as credits.A text layer is added and information of movie credits are written. All these images are saved in png and psd format for further modifications. 5.Making a Movie: For this purpose., a new software called Blender is used.Blender is a free open source developed software for 3d modeling, animation, rendering, video editing and compositing. This software is completely written in c/c++ and Python which includes libraries like OpenGL/OpenAL/Bullet Physics etc...This supports various features and equals commercial softwares in its performance.

By default lender opens into 3d modeling mode.in order to perform video editing and rendering, we have to change the mode of operation into Video editing. In this mode a window full of bars appear where audio/video/images can be added and edited and rendered to make a movie. The 3 video shots are imported into Blender and are arranged according to requirement. An audio file is imported and is added to scene in similar manner and is edited to meet requirements.

Now the options to depict starting and ending of rendering are filled and a nice format(AVI - no compression) is chosen to render. It is then set for rendering which is along process.By the end a video file is generated. This file will be extremely large because no encoding is used.In order to compress we will be using another software which will encode this video based on Motion Compensation, DCT, runlength and variable length coding etc.. Part - II Encoding a given video For encoding a given video., xvid format is chosen which has higher compression ration compared to other codecs. It involves DCT,Motion Compensation,DWT, changed frame rate, changed audio bitrate, changed gop size. This will achieve about 2:1 compression of the video. For this purpose.,Ive used Blender to transcode.
