Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Cognos ReportNet Failure
If the newly installed Cognos ReportNet instance does not start properly after the Business Edition installation is complete, it is possible that a previously installed Cognos ReportNet instance (in the same location) was running at the time the new installation took place. To remedy this situation:
1 Stop the Cognos ReportNet service. 2 Uninstall all instances of Cognos ReportNet that were installed during the Business
Edition installation process(es) - see Workforce Performance: on page 25
License Errors
If occasional license errors, such as a License server not running message, or a 404 page not found HTTP error, are displayed when accessing the application on login, ensure that all nodes in the cluster have a valid license available. The application startup log should be consulted to ensure that a node has a valid license.
- 19 -
Troubleshooting
The first part installs the Cognos ReportNet application which occurs during initial file extraction, i.e., it occurs before any component is installed. The second part creates the Content Store and configures the Reportnet installation. This occurs after the Email Gateway component is installed. Problem: Since Workforce Performance Installation is broken-up into two parts, any failure involving the other Workforce Management components (Database, Application Server, Job Scheduler, Email Gateway) that occurs before the second part of Workforce Performance is installed will cause a failure in Workforce Performance installation. Any subsequent attempt to install Workforce Performance will fail. Solution: If the above situation occurs and only Cognos ReportNet is installed, the user needs to uninstall Cognos ReportNet before re-installing Workforce Performance.

1 Open the Registry Editor (Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK). 2 Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Infor\WFM. 3 Click on the folder labelled with the name of the component. 4 Click on the child folder. This is the registry key for the component, e.g. Virtual
Clock2.
a Before you delete the registry key, be sure to note down the location string
located in the registry key. The location string tells you where the files related to the component are stored on your hard-drive. After you delete the registry key (in step #5), you will be able to delete the folder containing the component files off your hard-drive. Note It is normal for the registry to contain multiple registry keys for each component. Only one registry key per component will contain information. this is the key that you want to delete. The extra registry keys are created for verification reasons during installation.
- 23 -
6 In your Windows directory, go to the location saved in the location string (see step
4a), and delete the folder containing the component files. To continue with the uninstallation process, follow the following procedures outlined for each component:
