Pastors Corner ~
SEEDS AND FRUITS OF FAITH The Gospel this Sunday speaks about the seeds that were sown on different kinds of grounds which had different effects on their growth and fruitfulness. This is actually a parable that speaks about the life and faith of believers and the different levels and depths of commitment to God. This parable was true in the time of Christ as well as in our time. All of us baptized Catholics call ourselves Catholics. But it seems that, just like anything, each one of us has a different understanding, expression and outlook of our Catholic faith. We have the NOMINAL Catholics who were baptized but never practiced the faith, that is, Catholics in name only; the SUPERSTITIOUS Catholics observe their faith based not on the true nature of God but on misconceived ideas of God; the PRACTICAL ATHEISTS are Baptized Catholics, come to Church on Sundays but do not observe the faith for the rest of the week. Theirs is a compartmentalized way of life. Their Sunday faith does not integrate with other aspects of life. The REAL Catholics are the ones who live out their baptismal commitment which is maturely integrated in their daily lives. Their life is a witnessing of the goodness of the Christian God. The fruitfulness of their lives is rooted in their being instruments of God and bearer of the Good News, not in word alone, but in their charity and goodness of character. These are the Catholics who love God and His Church regardless of the imperfections and weaknesses of the leaders of the Church. These are the Catholics who love the Church not for personal gain but as an act of gratitude to God, who loves us even when we are unworthy of His love. These are the Catholics who keep the faith through thick and thin. These are the Catholics who were like seeds planted in the fertile ground and bear fruits by the hundreds. The good thing is, we have many of these members in our Church even as they keep silent about their goodness. In their lives, the goodness of the invisible God is made visible, and God is truly glorified in them. THANK YOU Our gratitude goes to all those who contributed to the Missionary Cooperation Collection and the Peter Pence Collection these past two weekends. Both are for the charitable works of the Church outside of our diocese, but both give us the opportunity to extend our love and concern even to those people we cannot see face to face.

Matthew 25
Dear Fr. Mario and Parishioners, As we conclude another school year, I want to extend to you my appreciation and gratitude for all you have done to make this year a successful one. Your constant charity over the years has become a shining example to all and has been an incentive for our people to help others in need. One of our grammar school teachers has been teaching voluntarily for the past nine years! Please pray for all our teachers, our students and their parents. Pray for our Missionary Sisters, too! We remember all of you daily at the Lords altar. May God bless you! Fr. John Tasto
