Once Upon a Time

Directions: 1. Scan each paper of your choice, move scan into Photo shop and ensure colours are to your liking. Print each paper onto sheets of printable fabric and put aside to dry. 2. Measure front and back of your note book, add 4 for turnings. Cut two pieces in cotton canvas, put right sides together and sew all the way around the fabric, leaving a small gap for turning. 3. Turn to right side and iron flat. 4. Using pinking shears cut the scanned fabric and vintage fabric pieces to size. Arrange these in a patchwork fashion on the front and back of your fabric cover, leaving 2 (of the canvas free) on the right and left side to turn and sew for slip cover. 5. I used a zig zag in a complementary colour thread. 6. Zig zag book plate to front of cover and then turn your 2 in on both sides and sew securely. 7. Slip the cover onto your notebook, tucking outside cover underneath the sewn flaps. 8. Add a row of vintage buttons and Thicker title. 9. The flower is made from book pages. Pile the book pages on top of each other, draw a circle and cut out. Fasten in the centre with a stapler. Then start cutting from the outside edge nearly to the centre all around the circle. Spray with water and crumple up in your hand. Allow to dry and add spool centre and attach to the front cover. Supply list:

Little I Love Yous

Directions: 1. Cut the top left and right hand corners off the board to shape a roof. Sandpaper the edges smooth. 2. Add a panel of MOD paper for the base and for the roof. 3. Using a square of vintage fabric, cut a heart and make a running stitch around the edge. 4. Take a strip of paper approx 4 wide and 3 times the width of your board, wet slightly. Taking care run this strip gently under the sewing machine gathering as you go. Glue along the length of the bottom of your house and add a strip of beige vintage trim. 5. Punch 2 holes at the top with a cropodile and thread and knot the garden string. 6. Take the childs coat hanger, add a strip of patterned paper and sand the edges. Tie the remainder of the blue pom pom braid and beige trim around the metal top. Add your title. 7. Add photo and heart to the board, leaving a gap under the heart to stuff slightly with filling. 8. Add a book plate for your journaling. 9. Finally the house is hung on the coat hanger!

Directions: 1. Decide how big you would like your book to be. Cut 8 pages from patterned paper and 8 pages from cardstock. 2. Back each patterned page with one of the cardstock pages. To do this either use adhesive or run around the edge with the sewing machine. 3. Distress the page edges. 4. Cut a front and back cover from grey board and cover with a slightly larger piece of canvas cotton fabric. I ran around the edge with the sewing machine. Attach vintage book cover to the front and back of the book. I also added some left over paper frill from the previous project. 5. Assemble book. Using cropodile punch two holes and add book rings. 6. Use the tab punch to make labels for each page from the vintage book pages. Use masking tape to make journaling strips or leave blank to journal onto the patterned paper. Punch scallop shapes to add the date. 7. Add front title, run a stazon pad along the edge of each page for definition. 8. Embellish with buttons and the crochet flower and add title , I used woodgrain Dymo tape. 9. Hang your book in a place where the person you love can add little love notes..especially for you!
