TROPICAL RAINFORESTS -Plants and animals play important roles in the carbon and oxygen cycles.Plants and animals respire and release carbon dioxide.Plants remove carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere during photosynthesis. This keeps the concentrations of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the atmosphere constant. - Forest trees help to maintain a humid and cool environment by releasing water vapour during transpiration. WETLANDS -Mangrove trees shelter the land from strong winds and waves, and prevent soil erosion. -Mangrove swamps act as resting places for migratory birds. The birds also hunt for food there. RECREATIONS TROPICAL RAINFOREST -The variety of plants and animals species in the forest attracts local and foreign tourists. This promotes eco-tourism. -The forest are sites for trekking and camping. WETLANDS -The rich flora and fauna of the wetlands and the sea are good recreational places for divers.Among them is the Pulau Payar Marine Park in Langkawi and Pulau Redang.
