Quick Start for Hardware Installation: IG550 Integrated Gateway

Preparing before you go on-site
1. Check Juniper software compatibility with TGM550 Gateway Module firmware. See http:// support.avaya.com. 2. Download the most recent firmware for the TM550. See http://support.avaya.com. 3. Ensure the customer has an FTP or TFTP server that is accessible to the TGM550. If not, download a TFTP server to your laptop. 4. Review safety requirements and airflow requirements. See Installing and Configuring the IG550 Integrated Gateway. 5. Get the tools you need:

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap Flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers

Getting ready on-site

1. Verify you have:

The Juniper Services Router (J4350 or J6350). A 10 AWG grounding cable An AC or 14 AWG DC power cable Cables for the TGM550, Telephony Interface Modules (TIMs), and Physical Interface Modules (PIMs).

! CAUTION:
CAUTION:

You cannot use a 14 AWG grounding cable with the router. The grounding cable must be 10 AWG.

A USB modem Two distinct and different console cables: - An RJ-45 console cable and DB-9 adapter for console connections to the TGM550. - An RJ-45 rollover cable and DB-9 adapter for console connections to the Juniper router.

03-601553 Issue 1 February 2007

Installing hardware
1. If the customer has a four-post rack and is using a shelf, install the shelf according to manufacturer guidelines. If the customer is using the brackets supplied with the router, install the brackets on the chassis of the Juniper Services router midway between the front and back.

! CAUTION:
CAUTION:

The Juniper Services Router must be turned off before inserting or removing the Avaya TGM550, TIM modules, or PIM modules. These modules are not hot-swappable. If you attempt to remove or insert these modules while the router is turned on, the router might reset or malfunction in some other way. 4. Insert the TGM550 and each TIM or PIM into the correct slot. 5. Align the notches in the connector at the rear of the TGM550, TIM, or PIM with the notches in the slot in the router. Then slide the module in until it lodges firmly in the router.

! CAUTION:
CAUTION:

Carefully slide the module straight into the slot to avoid damaging the connector components.

8. Connect power to the back of the router. AC Power

Insert the appliance coupler end of a power cord into the appliance inlet on the power supply faceplate. For a 6350 only, repeat for the second power supply. Insert the plug of each cord into an AC power source receptacle.

DC Power

Ensure that the voltage across the DC power source cable leads is 0 V and that there is no chance that the cable leads might become active during installation. Verify that a licensed electrician has attached the appropriate power cable lugs to the ends of the negative and positive DC source power cables. These are the lugs that you are attaching to the chassis DC terminals.

5. Updating TGM550 firmware

At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type show boot bank to determine the non-active disk partition (bank). You copy the firmware to the non-active boot bank. At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type one of the following commands, depending on whether the file resides on an FTP, or TFTP server: - copy [tftp or ftp] SW_image <bank> <filename> <server_ip_address> where <bank> is the bank that is the non-active boot bank, <filename> is the full path name of the firmware image file, which begins and will be similar to the name tgm550_4_0.bin, and <server_ip_address> is the IP address of the FTP or TFTP server.

For an FTP server, enter the login and password, if prompted Logout of the tftp or ftp server. At the TGM550 command line, enter show download software status 10 and check the status of the download. At the TGM550 command line, type set boot bank bank-<bank> where <bank> is the same letter you entered in the previous step. Enter copy running-config start-config. Enter reset, and confirm the reset with y. The TGM550 reboots and logs you out.

Log in to the TGM550 again. At the TGM550 command line, enter show image version to be sure that the active (or current) book bank is running the firmware you downloaded. Type exit to return to the Juniper Services Router CLI. Enter request chassis fpc restart slot <slot_number> to reset the TGM550 where <slot_number> is the slot of the TGM550.

Log in to the TGM550 again. At the TGM550-00<super># prompt, type show mg list_config. Verify the system the list of software.

6. Checking the authentication file ID (Avaya personnel only)

At the TGM550 command line prompt, type show auth-file info. In the AF ID field, record the 10-digit AF ID, for example, 7000003638.

7. Register the password (authentication) file with the ART tool (Avaya personnel only) or with the appropriate customer care center (business partners only).
