Introduction
Motivation refers to the forces either within or external to a person that arouse enthusiasm and persistence to pursue a certain course of action.

Types of Motivation
Intrinsic or Internal Motivation: Intrinsic Motivation includes internal motivators, such as personal pride, their love of the work itself and strong work ethic or a particular value system. Extrinsic or External Motivation: Extrinsic Motivation includes the motivators that come from outside which means from other people, situations, events and environments. E.g., some workers by paying bonuses or by giving promotions.

Elements of Motivation
Motivation starts with the desire to be free from dependency on others, freedom to live the lifestyle one dreams of and to explore ones ideas. Motivation is built on three basic elements:
1.

Motivation begins with a need, vision, dream or desire to achieve the seemingly impossible. Creativity is associated with ideas which are the path to freedom.

2. Developing and maintaining a love-to-learn lifestyle, becoming involved with risky ventures and seeking new opportunities and learn what to do and what not to do. 3. To have the desire to overcome barriers and to bounce back from discouragement or failures. Individuals learn to tolerate the agony that failure brings. Bouncing back requires creative thinking as it is a learning process.

Rules of Motivation
There are seven rules of Motivation:
1.

Set a major goal but follow a path: The path has mini goals that go in many directions. When we learn to succeed at mini goals we will be motivated to challenge grand goals.

2.

Finish what you start: A half finished project is of no use. We have a habit to quit. Develop a habit of finishing self motivated projects.

3.

Socialize with others of similar interest: Mutual support is motivating. We need to tend to develop the positive attitude of five of our friends if they are losers, we will be the losers and vice versa.

4.

Learn how to learn: Dependency on others for knowledge is slow and time consuming process, we must have the ability to learn without instructors. With self education we will succeed beyond our wildest dreams.

5.

Harmonize natural talent with the interest that motivates: Natural talent creates motivation; motivation creates persistence gets the job done.

6.

Increase knowledge of subjects that inspire: The more we know about a subject, the more we want to learn about it.

7.

Take Risk: Failure is a learning tool; no one has ever succeeded at anything worthwhile without a string of failures.

Self Motivation
Every time when an experience or thought runs through the mind, the pathway is created in the brain.

Positive Pathway: We have to send messages down the new path in our brain so that it create positive innovations.

Negative pathway: The more we are told negative things, the more stronger negative pathway becomes.

Self Motivation Boosters

Become aware of thoughts and feelings: we should explore our negative motions such as anger, frustrations, jealousy, envy, impatience and hostility.

Say no to negativity: Even if we do not have the belief that we can cancel negative thought. The moment thoughts come to the mind we should loudly say stop.

Replace any negative thoughts with information: The more we say it, the more we believe it.

Do good things: We should do good deeds for somebody everybody without telling everybody.

Self Motivation How to go about it?

We should take everyone and everything around us as our teacher, we are ultimately responsible for our own happiness.

Setting goals: Goals dreams with deadlines. We strive for more and greater success to achieve that, we must need to set proper goals.

Positive thinking: When setting goals, wording is everything. A goal should sound positive.

Setting intermediate goals: A very important and crucial part of the goal setting exercise is the formulation of the intermediate goals that we will achieve in the process of achieving the final goals.

Managing Goals: Attaining a goal is often a difficult process. We must use a variety of tricks and techniques as motivation for working towards our goals. We should also complete our task in time.

Reaching goals: after a long hard work, when we have finally reached our goals and attain success, we must celebrate and our success should bring us positive experience.

Extending goals: we can also take the motivational techniques and use for one goal and apply them to another. The act of striving for a goal strengthens and improves us. The journey of thousands miles began with a single step.

Techniques and Strategies

Visual Goals: The goals for what we are working for, we must make it visual. We can cut out pictures that show our goals or that represent our goals in a same way.

Written Contracts: Motivational research shows that people who write out what they are going to do is far more successful than people who only tell themselves that they will do something. So we must make a contact with ourselves.

Positive Relationships: We should develop a positive attitude by surrounding ourselves with carrying; positive people should spend time with that person. We should share our goals and plans with that person to achieve success.

Mentors: when the time comes to embark on a goal we should try to find a person who had already done it. Most people are flattered when others see that their skills are worth learning.

Groups: Selecting proper group is an important component of our self improvement plan. If our group mates are active then automatically we will also become active and vice versa.

Ways to Motivate Yourself

Eliminate should and focus on wants: We always have much more motivation to do the things that are fun, satisfying or fulfilling than to do things we think we ought to do. But we must always do the things first that are prior to us.

Rewards yourself for job well done: There are tasks that we may not enjoy but they still need attentions. Here it can be very motivating to create a reward system. Specific rewards for specific results.

Remove decision points: Each time there is a decision point; there is an opportunity to choose not to do something. If our motivation is low, each decision point is the chance to find excuse not to do it.

Think small: One of the major stumbling blocks to being motivated is being overwhelmed. The tasks seem so daunting that we lock up and never get started. The saying goes the longest journey begins with a single step.

Find something you love doing: most important point is that we must towards finding something we love to do.

Are you listening? The fact is that the other person deserves not only to be heard, but also to actually to be listened to.

Stress Happens: At some point of time, weve find ourselves stressed. To overcome stress we must do little exercise daily, eat balance meal, having sound sleep and take warm bath or shower.

No Need for Envy: Many a time we envy at another when they acquire more success than us. But envy is deadly sin which forces people to commit sin.

There is power in asking: If we have certain plans or decisions, but are constrained by some things than it would be better if we ask the related people about it.

Nothing wastes more than worrying: We should not let problems stick to us. We should realize that we are capable of working on our problems.

Dont miss the chance to encourage others: we should give true encouragement to our fellow human beings. Because everybody like encouragement. If we encourage others at time they will also encourage us.

Success is a journey: We found that we have to continuously remind ourselves about our past achievements in order to keep ourselves from becoming discouraged.

Success is more than fame and money: Sometimes we try to attach monetary value to the definition of success. We relate success to fame and money but it

is wrong. By giving our best input whatever results we get is our success.

Accept Failure: If we always grieve over our past failures, we can never success. Rather than we should learn from our past mistakes.

You are unique and one of a kind: We should always think that we are different from others. And we have one of the special quality which other dont have.

Spend with your loved ones: We should dedicate some time to our family, friends and our dear ones which help us to lead a balance life.
