Planet PC DotA Tournament Official Rules

LOCATION: Planet PC at 4550 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV Competition Format: 5 vs. 5 teams (Captains Mode -cm) Match Format: Single Elimination Match Winner: The team who destroys the opponent's throne or tree first, or the team whose
opponent surrenders.

General Game Rules


1. Coin Toss:
The match will begin with a coin toss and winner of the coin toss will get to choose: - Selects the side (sentinel or scourge), or - First pick during the draft
* Teams that plays the sentinel will host the game. Team members are not allowed to change seats once the map has started to load. * At the end of the game the replay has to be saved and named as "Team1 (W) vs Team2" by the winning team. Failure to do so will cause the match to be void and no winner will be declared for that match. * Applicable when no observers present * this rule is subject to change once the tournament has begun.

2. Item restrictions:
There are no item restrictions. Teams can purchase/use all items within the game. There are also no item amount restrictions, so teams can have 2 or more of the same item

3. Sharing of Items:
Sharing of items is allowed as long as the game permits it. 1. Sharing of Regeneration items, bottle or gem, will be allowed 2. Players are NOT allowed to suicide to pass the Divine Rapier. 3. Sharing of Consumable items will be allowed. (see section 4 Item pooling for more details) a. Clarity Potion b. Healing Salve c. Ancient Tango of Essifation d. Observer Wards e. Sentry Wards f. Dust of Appearance g. Scroll of Town Portal h. Smoke of Deceit 4. Sharing of Animal Courier will be allowed. (see section 5 Sharing of Hero Control for more details)

4. Item Pooling:
Item pooling of any sort is not allowed. This means that: 1. Consumable items that are bought with a players own money, can be consumed or used by any of his/her teammates. The items CANNOT be sold back to the vendor. (see section 3.3 Sharing of Items for more detail) 2. Any items that dropped by their opponents, can be picked up and can be used, destroyed or sold (if the game permits).

5. Sharing of Hero Control:


Sharing of any players Hero will be allowed.

6. Back Dooring:
Back dooring is a process in which, a player bypasses an opponents front line creep units in one of the three lanes and attacks an opponents tower or buildings.
* note: more recent version of DotA mechanics has changed involved in attacking opponents towers with no friendly creep units. Opponents towers will auto regenerate if there are no friendly creep units in the area.

1. Lane Tower Back Dooring: This is the first two towers in each lane. 1. A player can bypass the front line creep unit of their opponent, by walking, to attack and destroy any tower that is deniable. 2. A player can attack and destroy an opponents tower with no friendly creep unit(s) attacking their opponents tower, if it is deniable. 3. If any player(s) attacks an opponents tower with friendly creep units and the friendly creep units are killed or pulled from the opponents tower, the player may continue attacking the tower. 4. Any player(s) can attack and destroy an opponents tower, as long as the player(s) can do enough damage to bypass the towers auto regeneration of the opponents tower. 5. It is NOT allowed for a player to use summoned, neutral or captured creeps units to attack an opponents tower without friendly uncontrolled creep units. (see Section 2. Base Back Dooring: These are the towers, buildings and Throne that are inside the base of each team. 1. A player may attack any tower or building in the base, as long as they follow the rules setup in Section 6.1 Lane Tower Back Dooring. 2. A player cannot use Furions Teleport or Spectres Haunt to teleport into an opponents base to attack and destroy the opponents tower or buildings. 3. A player can use Kelens Dagger to teleport into an opponents base, to attack and destroy an opponents tower or buildings. 3. Player(s) my bypass enemy creeps, towers and buildings to kill enemy players and couriers. This is not considered back dooring and so it will allowed.

7. Game abuse and Exploitation


1. Pause Abuse (Warning or Game Loss): Pausing without any valid reason is
disallowed. Resuming the game without the other team confirming that they are ready is not allowed either. Teams that are constantly pausing or resuming to ruin the game will receive a game loss. If someone pauses the game without a valid reason, he will receive a warning. 2. Creep Blocking (Warning or Game Loss): Creep blocking permanently is not allowed but creep slowing/delaying or luring is allowed. It is not allowed to block creeps with the help of spells, such as fissure, sprout etc. It is only allowed to use the hero model to intercept with creeps (accidental blocks are okay, as long as the fissure - for example - was directed at an opposing hero). 3. Base Entrance Blocking (Warning or Game Loss): Its not allowed to intentionally block the base entrance for defensive purpose with the help of spells, such as fissure (accidental blocks are okay, as long as the fissure - for example - was directed at an opposing hero). 4. Bugs Exploitation (Warning, Game Loss or Disqualification): No Exploitation of any known old or new bug discovered during gameplay. No excuses will be entertained. Ignorance is not an excuse. Participants/Teams are expected to know what these bugs are. Participants who experience any abnormal game play are advised to inform the judge immediately. Definition of bugs: Anything abnormal which will give a player/team an unfair advantage. Anything which will cause interruption/fatal error to the game. 5. Cheating (Disqualification): Any kind of cheat is strictly prohibited. Warkeys/Dotakeys are allowed. If the game did not crash, then the game has to be played until the end and the replay be sent to the judge for investigation.

6. Player Trapping: Intentionally trapping enemy players in trees or terrain is not


allowed.

Abuse & Exploitation 1. Tree trapping : Intentionally trapping enemies in trees is not allowed. 2. Pause abuse : From the point after hero selection process is completed, pausing without any valid reason is not allowed. 3. Creep blocking : Creep blocking (such as using Chen's creeps to block the entrance to the base disallowing creeps from moving down the lane completely) is not allowed. Creep slowing is allowed (such as moving in front of the creeps in zigzag manner to slow their progress or using fissure) is allowed).

4. Bug exploitation : Exploitation of any known or newly discovered bug during the match will result in an immediate disqualification of the team. Excuses will not be entertained. Not knowing the bug is not an excuse, competitors are expected to know the current bugs. Definition of Bugs: Anything abnormal which will give the competitor or team an unfair advantage. Anything which will cause interruption or fatal error to the game. Penalties 1. Warning : After a warning was given the game goes on. If three warnings are accumulated by the team during the match, the team will be disqualified from the tournament. 2. Game loss : Game loss given to a team means that the team will automatically lose the game irrelevantly of the actual match result is such took place 3. Disqualifications : A team disqualification will lead to the team being ejected from the tournament. They will not be allowed to take part in the current event.

Heroes Draft Game mode : Captain's mode (-cm). Automatic. Teams will decide who claims first pick or sides pick after the coin toss. Summary: 3 bans then 3 picks then 2 bans then 2 picks. Ban Phase #1: Each team bans 3 heroes. 30 seconds for each stepProcess: 1-1-1-1-1-1 Pick Phase #1: Each team then picks 3 heroes. 50 seconds for each step.Process: 1-2-2-1 Ban Phase #2: Each team then bans 2 heroes. 50 seconds for each stepProcess: 1-1-1-1 Pick Phase #2: Each team then picks 2 heroes. 50 seconds for each stepProcess: 1-1-1-1 90 seconds of extra time is provided in each team's time bank. Game Saves

First save will be at either: 1. 2. 15 minute mark of the game First blood

Second save onwards will be every 15 minutes of the game. Marshals or the Head Marshal has the right to request for additional game save at any moment during the tournament. If in any case a game was disconnected and the winning team did not save the game prior to the disconnection, the rules for save game validity will apply.

Save Game Validity A saved game is outdated if since the save game the following has occurred: 1. 2. 3. A tower or barrack has been destroyed. A total of 12 or more kills occurred. (Aegis charges lost count as kills) The net total kills changed by 4 or more. (Aegis charges lost count as kills)

The net total is the difference in kill score between both teams. Examples: 1. An 11-4 score at the save leave a net total difference of 7. A 11-8 score at the drop leaves a net total of 3. The net total changed from 7 to 3, the save game is outdated. 2. A 20-16 score at the save leaves a net total of 4, a 26-22 score at the drop leaves a net total of 4, however, 12 kills have occurred since the save, as such the save is outdated. 3. A 5-3 score at the save leaves a net total of 2. A 12-7 score at the drop leaves a net total of 5. No towers or barracks have been destroyed. The net total went from 2 to 4, 11 kills occurred, as such the save is valid.

Intentional Disconnections Any competitor found to have intentionally disconnected from the game will give that competitors team a loss for that match. Unintentional Disconnections / System Crashes

If any competitors are disconnected within 15 minutes after the game start the game will be restarted. If any competitors are disconnected 15 minutes after the start of the game: 1. 2. If there is a valid save, the game will be reloaded. If the last save is outdated the game will continue

Fatal Error or Game Crash Any game crash before the 80 minute mark will be reloaded Any game crash after the 80 minute mark will not continue and a decision will be made by the Marshal or Head Marshal based on the replay of that match.

Tardiness or Late Tardiness and being late is not allowed and will automatically result in a win of the present team. In any case that the team lacks a player and the match has been scheduled for the specific time, the match will be played without the missing player and the late player can join in anytime in the match. Match Schedule All Team Captains must be present 15 minutes before their match is schedules for Toss Coin, PC Assignments and other important stuffs.

Disconnections & Save Game Process: i.Competing teams are advised to save their games as frequently depending on the necessity as the game progresses ii.Competing teams are advised to save after first blood or after any major battle in the progress of the game under the agreement of both competing teams iii.Competing teams must bear all responsibility in saving the game throughout the tournament iv.The game marshal/ organizer will not be responsible should any participating teams fails to obtain a save file should a PC error or crash occurs v.In the event of any disconnection or technicality errors for the first 10 minutes of the game. The match will be restarted with MUST pick the same heroes & proceed to same starting lane with default items as before disconnection occurred. On initial creep contact, players may choose to switch lanes.

vi.In the event of any disconnection after 10 minutes of game play. The match will be reloaded from the saved game file. If there is any technical issues happen in the match, decisions could be varied depending on game time. 10 to 20 mins of gameplay: The side with an advantage of 15 kills and above will be given the options of: 1.Taking default win 2.Continue with the game without the disconnected hero In the event of no advantage occurs in both teams, the match will be restarted with different hero lineups 20 to 30 mins of gameplay: The side with an advantage of 20 kills and above will be given the options of: 1.Taking default win 2.Continue with the game without the disconnected hero vii.In the event a save file is lost after 20 minutes of game play. The game marshal holds all power pass verdict on who is the winner of the match depending on : a)Each hero = 1 kill count b)Level 1 Tower = 2 kill count c)Level 2 Tower = 3 kill count d)Level 3 Tower = 4 kill count e)Level 4 Tower = 5 kill count f)Aegis = 1 kill count g)Barracks = 5 kill count viii.Respective teammates are NOT ALLOWED to use disconnected heroes and teams will not be allowed to transfer its items to other players. The items left by disconnected hero may not be sold.

The following rules are subject to modification in the following aspects:I.Use of most recent patch/version release of each official game II.Changes to in-game settings and options necessitated by the use of most recent patch version/release III.Cheat Protection Program release and/or cheat protection functions IV.Game settings and/or operations guidelines dictated by differences between online and LAN Tournaments V.Teams are responsible to check the rules on a regular basis and prior to every match to ensure they are in complete compliance. Teams must understand that rules listed are guidelines to ensure fair and competitive play and are subject to interpretation by the marshals based on the spirit of the game

1. NO TEAM COACH IS ALLOWED TO HELP THE TEAM WHILE PLAYING. ONLY THE TEAM CAPTAIN LISTED ON OUR OFFICIAL LIST IS ALLOWED TO PICK AND BAN HEROES. 2. READ THE RULES FOR LATE TEAMS OR PLAYERS. WE WILL FOLLOW THE TIME POSTED ON THE SCHEDULE. WE WILL ONLY WAIT FOR A SPECIFIC TIME BEFORE WE DECLARE THE TEAM AS DEFAULT. 3. NO TRASHTALK, SHOUTING, OR VIOLENT REACTION TOWARDS THE OPPONENT. WE ARE PROMOTING SPORTSMANSHIP IN THIS TOURNAMENT. Sportsmanship Conduct & Bugs Exploitation: i.Gamers must report to the respective game zone 10 minutes before the match. Participants who are late for more than 10 minutes will be disqualified. No dispute or whatsoever will be entertained ii.Abusive behavior towards the organizer/game marshal/ opponent team will result in a warning. No foul language and abusive/racial behavior will be tolerated in the course of the tournament iii.An individual is only allowed to play for 1 team ONLY throughout the course of the tournament iv.Bugs Exploitation: No Exploitation of any known old or new bug discovered during play. Explanations like "exploiting/activating the bug unknowingly", "we had no idea this bug existed" or similar excuses will not be entertained. Participants are required to update themselves with the latest competing tournament rules By participating in this tournament, participants fully and unconditionally agree to accept and to be bound by the aforesaid terms and conditions of the tournament and the decision of SMM, which is final.
