For more information, please visit www.peacedividendtrust.org Liberia Context Peace Dividend Trust will be launching its award-winning Peace Dividend Marketplace (PDM) model in Liberia. PDM is an innovative approach to market development in countries recovering from conflict and disaster. Through targeted services that link international, regional and local buyers with capable national suppliers, the PDM works to increase and leverage the economic impact of international assistance and investment efforts. This in turn helps drive money into the domestic economy, restoring livelihoods, generating competition in the marketplace, and contributing to wider growth and development. (see www.buildingmarkets.org) In Liberia, the PDM will support the ability of international organizations and donors (e.g. United Nations or World Bank Group) and multinational corporations (e.g. Chevron) to buy local. Responsibilities and Duties The Market Researcher will report directly to the Business Development Manager and will receive guidance and be responsive to the New York-based economist. He/She will increase PDTs knowledge of the Liberian marketplace, will produce analyses of the local marketplace, and will help PDT track its results and determine its impact. Specific responsibilities and duties include: Develop a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge base of key Liberian markets including their size, accessibility, the major institutional buyers and local Liberian vendors through primary and secondary research; Track trends from the information received from suppliers and the information requested from buyers; Conduct analysis of PDM-Ls database of suppliers listed on the Business Portal; Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of efficient systems to manage data and track results and impact; Track indicators required to understand PDM-Ls impact; Design and execute surveys to further determine PDM-Ls impact; Track relevant socio-economic indicators and available data at the Liberian national and regional levels;


Establish and maintain contact with other economic development research groups in Liberia; Contribute to other research projects as required.

Qualifications Required Degree-level qualification in a social science or equivalent experience; 1 to 2 years work experience; Strong quantitative skills; Proficient in Excel; Strong attention to detail; Analytical thinker; Ability to multi-task; Experience conducting primary research; Experience of living in a developing country; Ability to work with a multicultural team; Willingness to learn Liberian English and other local languages.

Desirable Experience conducting primary research in a developing country; Experience communicating research findings to a wide range of audiences.
