UP BICYCLE STUDY
A Preliminary Assessment
“The UP Diliman campus
offers an ideal place for
biking. It has vast greenery
and open space that can
make biking pleasant and
relaxing. It also has
generally mild slopes or
grades that do not make
biking an arduous task.”

respondents support a
cycling policy in UP.

Gozun, 2000

5
More than half (56%) of those living
in UP are likely to use bicycle
facilities if ever built while almost
half (47%) of those living outside
are also willing to use these
facilities.

Bicycle Owners 105 (22%)

Bicycle Users 7 (2%)

Major Reasons for not Cycling

Bicycle Network and Facilities

General Guidelines
w If possible, fully integrated network of bicycle lanes segregated
from motorized vehicular traffic should be established.

w At locations where there is potential conflict with motorized

vehicles, traffic control and safety devices shall be provided and
set to give priority to pedestrians & bicycle users.

w Bicycle parking facilities shall be constructed within the

premises of campus buildings.

w A good bicycle network would encourage campus residents and

those living in areas just outside the campus to use bicycles.
