To Culture With Love. Management

Brief concept
To Culture With Love. Management is an international workshop for European young professionals and students working in the creative and cultural eld. The workshop consists of four days and aims at exploring the working environment in the creative and cultural eld in order to develop sustainable future perspectives and models for this rather project based eld. The core principles of the workshop are informal learning and a high level of participant involvement. Participants are requested not just to attend but also to contribute with their own projects and experience to foster the sharing of best practice experiences and to broaden the discussion about working conditions within the eld. This is achieved by an intensive four day programme which provides for enough input and inspiration on the one hand as well as reasonable time for open spaces and possibilities for informal networking. The rst day should kick off the workshop with a thematic introduction of the particular workshops focus topic to set the frame and provide a basis for further discussion. An artistic workshop following that should get the participants to get to know each other while at the same time exploring the topic further through artistic processes. On the second day input and inspiration is gained through explorational tours in the creative and cultural eld in the hosting city and/or region. The aim is to explore new approaches regarding organisation and structure as well as spaces of initiatives and actors in the eld. The third day is a whole day in BarCamp format to reect on the input of the former two days, develop new project ideas or discuss ongoing processes in the working environment. The fourth day is aiming at gathering the results of the different sessions and making them visible to all the participants as well as at documenting what has been worked on during the past days. Documentation is to be done to make the results open for as many people as possible to comment on or make use of the ndings. Throughout all days there should be different informal activities to get people to know each other such as a common dinner on the rst evening, long enough lunch breaks instead of many small breaks, open spaces for project presentations, thematic movie evenings or the like. Shorter fun and informal (creative and artistic) activities at the beginning and at the end of the working days create a relaxed, fun and focused atmosphere. The target audience are young professionals and students working in the creative and cultural eld in Europe. The workshop should provide for an overall capacity of at least 70-100 participants to allow for a broad diversity on the one hand but also intensive group work on the other hand. A small participation fee should foster commitment when signing up and cover the catering.

Background
To Culture With Love. Management has so far taken place in Brno, Czech Republic in 2010 and Potsdam, Germany in 2011, both times in the middle of February. While there have been 55 participants from 8 different European countries at the 2010 event there were already 91 participants from 19 different countries in 2011. The participants were mostly aged mid-end 20s with some younger and older, most of them were women. The workshop itself incorporates an international perspective already throughout the planning phase as the organising team has been working decentralised in both years - Czech, Finnish and German teams who were already active in organising the 2010 event have been joined by an English team in the organisation of the 2011 edition. This is to a large extend based on the formation of the core team which is formed by Jitka Honsov, Czech Republic, Riikka Wallin, Finland, and Norbert Schmidt, Germany, who found each other during a common internship at Produforum in Finland in the fall 2008 and decided to carry out this project which was outlined by the Czech association Spolek Kultura & Management o.s. of which Jitka is a member.
