2022 !
The challenge for Groupe Télégramme is to ensure the success of the Route du Rhum -
Destination Guadeloupe, OC Sport Pen Duick’s major event, by respecting the spirit and
magic, while developing it qualitatively, in association with public and private partners,
racers, ship owners, and the media, all of whom contribute to the race’s success. It is also
an important responsibility, both on the water and on land, in terms of safety and respect
for the environment. The Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe is an event that brings together 2 million people on site and many
more through the media.
Le Télégramme is a player in Brittany: as such, organising the most important event in Brittany, showcasing its talents and its companies
gathered in Saint-Malo is a source of pride and responsibility. We are also the media of the sea, which is present every day in its columns
(not to say in its veins). For the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, Le Télégramme is providing full coverage of the race on
its various media, from the historical aspect to the sporting aspect, with numerous videos. It also produces the official programme, in
association with Le Point, which is distributed throughout France. All our teams, media and organisation, are on deck to ensure the
success of this 2022 edition !
groupe
Ary Chalus,
The Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe is a wonderful sporting and human epic
which for 44 years has sealed a common legend between Saint-Malo and Guadeloupe. It
seems obvious to us that we should mobilise with great enthusiasm for this 12th edition.
An edition that we see as a real catalyst for the further development of our blue economy.
But the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe is also a story of men and women who,
during a transatlantic race, share a common horizon.
In a few weeks time, these men and women will be facing themselves and they will
challenge the ocean. Let them know that when they arrive in Guadeloupe we will be there
to welcome them and that each of them will be celebrated.
01.3 Saint-Malo
gilles lurton,
aventure.
138 boats in the basins of the port of Saint-Malo. 13 days of festivities. 70 000 m2 of
village. 20 skippers from Saint Malo. This 12th edition of the Route du Rhum - Destination
Guadeloupe is the one of all records, says Gilles Lurton, mayor of Saint-Malo and president
of Saint-Malo Agglomeration. For several months, Saint-Malo and its agglomeration have
been preparing for it... All the services of the City and the territory, the volunteers, the
hoteliers, the shopkeepers, the Malouines and the Malouins are mobilized around this
mythical race. In Saint-Malo, we are enthusiastic and proud to participate in this great
adventure.
©EP-Images-_-Region-Bretagne
It is a great honour and responsibility for the Brittany Region to host this legendary race in
its port of Saint-Malo. The entry trials of one of the Ultims in the basins of the corsair city
has already made our hearts beat, so imagine how they will all palpitate on 6 November!
I am proud today to see so many Breton skippers taking the start of this event! I am also
proud to highlight, through them, the exceptional vitality of the Breton nautical sector.
These sailors are at the helm of boats that are the result of a sum of technological prowess
developed mainly in Brittany; we must be aware of this!
The image of the 138 skippers in the running resembles the Brittany that welcomes them.
They are all men and women who have a taste for effort, adventure and excellence,
commitment, daring and solidarity. These are all values that Brittany shares with these top
sportsmen and women.
01.5 CIC
Daniel BAAL,
The Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe has set a record for bringing together
so many skippers and therefore so many boats, teams and partners. 138 skippers are
gathered, all of them very talented, ready to fight, but at the same time, lucky to take part
collectively in the writing of a new chapter in the legend of this ocean race. All the CIC

teams are looking forward to the arrival of the first boats in Saint-Malo, the official opening
of the village and the final exchanges with the skippers and all the teams.
joseph bizard,
It is a great source of pride for us at OC Sport Pen Duick to see the Route du Rhum -
©Michel GAILLARD_REA
Destination Guadeloupe line-up gathered here in Mogador, just as in a few weeks’ time,
the sailors will enter the ocean stage to offer us an unforgettable, sensational spectacle.
With 138 sailors at the start, this new edition already holds many promises and will once
again impose itself as the most beautiful single-handed transatlantic event. A historic race
that has become a major event, it is also a great collective adventure, supported by the
commitment and support of all our partners. To the Region of Guadeloupe - Exclusive
Major Partner, to its main partners - Saint Malo, the Region of Brittany and the CIC, to
the historical partners and to the newcomers, we address our sincere thanks and we are
delighted to write this twelfth chapter with them. For the general public, we look forward
to seeing you on 25 October for the opening of the village in Saint-Malo to experience the magic of the Rhum, to follow the start on 6
November at 13:02 and of course in Guadeloupe to celebrate the arrival of the sailors.

Village

Village
An XXL village
From 25 October to 6 November 2022, Saint-Malo, the starting village, will come
alive with the colours of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe and an
XXL village. Extended by one day compared to 2018, the village will occupy a
surface area of 70,000 m2 in the immediate vicinity of the docks, i.e. 15% more
than the previous edition. With shipowners’ stands, public areas, media and partners, this lung of animation of the
race will breathe the usual energy into its actors and its visitors. This 2022 village will distil the magic of the Rhum,
making the experience sensational thanks to the increase in its surface area, notably due to the creation of an
entrance to Rocabey, a new space which will house major events such as the CIC - Le Télégramme panoramic
Ferris wheel, an Energy Observer village, the visit of an IMOCA boat alongside the quayside, etc. But it will also
be possible to watch all the boats enter and leave the basins from the bleachers set up on the locks. Numerous
other festivities will be offered, promising an unforgettable experience... all with comfort and ergonomics! A festive
and popular atmosphere that will naturally continue at the arrival in Guadeloupe. The islands of Guadeloupe
are preparing to welcome the sailors with the fervour that characterises them and fifteen days of festivities to
celebrate the sailors. These will take place mainly around the ACTe Memorial, a place of culture and memory, an
ideal gathering point for the sailors, the media and the general public at the time of arrival.
