30 April 2011 To whom it may concern Ms Ntombekhaya Mtyobo, at level 4, is the Albany Museums Acting Chief Auxiliary Services (at level 7) since 2007. DSRAC froze these posts, and the museum had a duty to ensure that the job at hand continues. She has been in charge of the Custodians, the front office staff who welcome visitors, tourists, students and other stakeholders to the museums. Albany Museum runs three museums, the History Museum, Natural Science, and Observatory. Ms Mtyobo had to ensure that roster for the custodians is ready every month, and everyone is rotated accordingly. During the two major national festivals in Grahamstown that draw thousands of people, she have to ensure that the museum have enough human resource for the smooth operations. Her situation, unlike that of the DSRAC Cacadu District where there are several finance section officials, for example, is unique. She had to run the whole Finance Department on her own. Her job then includes: Budget Bank Reconciliation Asset Management Creditors and debtors

On top of all this, she also had to liaise with the PricewatershouseCoopers auditors ensure that books are audit yearly, a job merely done by an auditing committee. She is also part of the Museums Heads of Departments (a management team) representing Finance. Yours sincerely

30 April 2011 To whom it may concern Ms Nozipho Madinda is the Albany Museums Mobile Services Officer. Her situation has been stretched further by DSRAC Head Office. On several occasions she had to travel distances beyond her scope to honour provincial events like the Heritage Day, Freedom Day, and Africa Day. She does this humbly, knowing for a fact that she is not going to get S&T that provincial officials get. Her efforts are a true reflection of a dedicated official who strives to put not only Albany Museum on the map, but DSRAC and the Eastern Cape Province at large. She has added three key important events on her endeavours: The Nelson Mandela Museum Youth Camp (June holidays taking 2 learners) The Robben Island Museum Spring School (September holidays taking 4 learners) The Mandela Day ( 18 July) donating clothes and books to farm community She is also part of the Museums Heads of Departments (a management team) representing Mobile Services. He is in charge of one of the Museums departments with lot of staff and challenges. His main challenge where he excelled has been to bring order and discipline. The workshop staff is very instrumental in ensuring that grounds are clean, and that safety and security for staff, visitors and building is in order. His task is added every time there is a festival going on, or a new temporary exhibition has to be mounted. 30 April 2011 To whom it may concern Mr Thabang Tshobeni took over the reigns as Head of Albany Museums Exhibitions Department immediately after the retirement of its supervisor in October 2010. He is in charge of one of the Museums departments with challenges. His main task is to ensure that galleries and exhibitions are in order. He also works closely with the Communications and Marketing Department to ensure that corporate identity is maximized, as well as the production of the newsletters and the Annual Reports. His task is added every time there is a festival going on, or a new temporary exhibition has to be mounted. He has two liaise with both the Scifest and the National Arts Festival offices, as well as with exhibitors for space, and their needs. He also has to liaise with Rhodes University students whenever there is a need for art exhibition On top of all this, Mr Tshobeni has been very instrumental in assisting the small museums, such as Our Heritage Museum in Adelaide, with their transformation agendas. He availed his expertise and time to design, develop and mount exhibitions aiming at transforming these museums He is also part of the Museums Heads of Departments (a management team) representing Maintenance Department.
