TRuepoint
a new generation of point-to-point PDH / SDH / Ethernet digital radios
The TruePoint series is a family of compact, versatile point-to-point digital radios that provide highly reliable communication links for NxE1, STM1 and data
over a wide range of frequency bands from 6 GHz through to 38 GHz.
These radios, built on a common platform, offer a wide variety of network capacities and configurations. TRuepoint incorporates a scalable design using plugand-play modules available with traditional circuitswitched and IP interfaces. This provides users with the flexibility to choose a system that meets current needs, and the ability to easily expand the system to accommodate future growth. It reduces capital and operating expenditures commonly associated with field installation, maintenance, training and spares. TRuepoint's RF units (installed outdoors) are capacity-independent, while its signal processing units (installed indoors) are frequency-independent. TRuepoint has software-enabled features, allowing users to select capacities, modulation levels, RF frequency channels and transmit output power settings to meet worldwide regulatory and spectrum efficiency requirements. Sophisticated in-service performance monitoring and built-in diagnostics assess signal quality and identify possible path and/or hardware failures. Status LEDs on each module provide visual system alarm indications. TRuepoint can be managed and monitored using any SNMP-based network or element manager.
Ease of Use
Installation The Signal Processing Unit occupies a single rackmounting space for 1+0 configurations; two rack mounting spaces for 1+1 and 2+0 configurations. The Radio Frequency Unit is weatherproof for outdoor installation, but it can also be mounted indoors on a radio relay rack. The RFU can be attached directly to the antenna (RFU-detachable configuration). Management and Maintenance No downtime during module swaps in 1+1 configurations. The controller board can be removed without interrupting traffic. Backwards-compatible with Harris MicroStar radios through an integrated HDLC port. Intuitive LED displays on each unit indicate activity and alarm status. Built-in self diagnostics differentiate path alarms from equipment alarms. Convenient setup, monitoring and configuration of any radio in the network through a graphical web CIT, VT-100 computer terminal or hand-held keypad (provided by Harris). A removable MMC in the controller board stores software and configuration settings, which allows for autoconfiguration. Scalable The scalable, RF-independent Signal Processing Unit uses optional plug-in modules to accommodate a wide variety of data interfaces for PDH, SDH and IP applications. The Radio Frequency Unit is capacity-independent. Single module swap for capacity upgrade from 2 E1 to STM-1. The indoor configuration of the Radio Frequency/ Signal Processing Unit (TRuepoint 5300) accommodates high power amplifiers.
Flexible Software-selectable modulation (4, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 QAM). Flexible forward error correction schemes optimize bandwidth and system gain. Plug-and-play modules facilitate faster network startup, simple reconfigurations and capacity upgrades. Reliable A common platform and integrated design for all configurations provides more than 20 years MTBF. Automatic transmitter power control (ATPC). Reverse channel switching protects against silent transmitter failures.

Function-oriented modules minimize the need for complete board sparing. There are four main functions. - Modem/Power Supply - Multiplex - Controller - Ancillary or Service Channel (2 slots allocated) The variety of configurations available simplifies migration to higher capacities. The modem, controller, and ancillary boards are common throughout the product portfolio which reduces the need for spares, and simplifies training and maintenance. The multiplexer manages several capacites and interfaces, including the following: - 2 to 16 E1 - E3+1E1 or 2 x 100BASE-T + 1 E1 over 34 Mbps + 1 E1, - 21 E1, STM-1 partially filled - STM-1 + E1 wayside - Mixed interfaces such as 2 x 100 BASE-T with E1 (up to 16 E1), with a maximum airlink payload of 4 E3 + 2 E1. The airlink payload and traffic assignment is selectable by software. - 2 x 100BASE-T over STM-1 capacity +1 E1. - 2 or 4 E3 + 2 E1 2 x 100BASE-T payload structure. In applications using 100BASE-T LAN, the routing capability allows for port base VLAN.
