-----------------------------------------------About -----------------------------------------------NodEnabler has been created for Astalavista.ms by Damian666, Nodster, and Matt15 53. NodEnabler is a program that connects to websites (such as www.nod321.com and ww w.nod32sky.com) that host usernames and passwords in plain-text that grant acces s to ESET updates and software. NodEnabler checks the username and password your ESET software is currently using to see if it is still valid. If it isn't, NodE Nabler then downloads the license data from these websites and checks with the E SET update servers to see if it is valid before automatically inserting it into the ESET software on your computer. A typical run time for NodENabler is under 3 0 seconds and should not exceed six or seven minutes (it will wait one to five m inutes for internet access and another minute for the ESET GUI to start if it ne eds to). While we've taken every effort to ensure NodEnabler won't harm your computer in any way, it comes completely without warranty, so you install it at your own ris k. Undoubtedly, many antivirus products will falsely detect NodEnabler as malwar e. (Something like upx packed exe, autoit script, or hack av. All are fairly acc urate descriptions of the technical attributes of NodEnabler, but it is by no me ans harmful to your computer.) You may therefore need to add NodEnabler to your antivirus exclusions list. If you like the software ESET makes and you can afford it, please purchase it an d stop using NodEnabler. The best way to support a good product is to support th e people who make it. -----------------------------------------------Installing -----------------------------------------------1. Skip straight to step 3 if you already have the ESET software you wish to use installed on your computer. 2. Download the version of the ESET software you wish to use from the ESET websi te (www.eset.com) and install it. We've tested NodEnabler with x86 and x64 versi ons of 2.7, 3, and 4. All worked perfectly, so pick any version you like. Trial versions are fine; NodEnabler will automatically update them to full versions. I f you want to download a full version straight away, go to one of the sites ment ioned above and copy a username and password then go to http://www.eset.com/down load/purchased_software.php and select the software you want to download. When p rompted, enter the username and password you copied. The download should start i mmediately. If it doesn't work, try another username and password. 3. Remove any cracks/hacks etc you already have installed for the ESET software

on your computer. This includes previous versions of NodEnabler. "2.81 Improved" has an included uninstaller that can be accessed through "Add/remove programs", but anything older (including standard 2.81) and you'll need the "old version" uninstaller we've posted on the astalavista.ms forums in the NodEnabler thread. 4. Run the correct version of NodEnabler for your OS build (if you're not sure w hether you're running x86 or x64 you can check by opening the start menu, rightclicking on "My Computer" / "Computer", and selecting "Properties". In the windo w that appears look for 32-bit, 64-bit, x86, or x64. 32-bit = x86, 64-bit = x64. ) Anything older than XP should be x86. Installer options: The default option selections should be the best for most users. An option without a tick next to it indicates that it will not be installed or d isabled. An option that is "greyed out" is not relevant given the selections you have already made. XP and older: Run at startup - Runs NodEnabler automatically as soon as you log in. Vista: Scheduled task - Runs NodEnabler automatically whenever a new physical ne twork connection is made (when you plug in an Ethernet cable, connect to a wirel ess network, or dial up to the internet) and every hour thereafter. No system tray notifications: When checked, this option disables the balloon sta tus notifications NodEnabler displays near the system tray when the parent optio n above it is used. When this option is selected there is no way of visually kno wing that NodEnabler is running. The rest of the options should be self-explanatory. When prompted for a directory to install to, just hit ok to use the default (whi ch is based off of where your ESET software is located), or change it to your li king. -----------------------------------------------Running -----------------------------------------------If your current update license has expired and you receive an error from your ES ET software just run NodEnabler from one of the shortcuts you selected during th e install. It won't need any input, so just make sure you have an internet conne ction available and let it finish before trying to update your ESET software aga in. If you want to force a license update, open the ESET GUI and manually clear the update username and password, then run NodEnabler. -----------------------------------------------Uninstalling -----------------------------------------------Assuming you installed the uninstaller (if you didn't, you're on your own), you can run it by selecting it from "Add/remove programs" / "Programs and features" or from the start menu.
