With the recent grant the Minnesota legislature has given to the public libraries in Minnesota, it was time

to expand the Milton branch. $50,000 was to be allocated to the library for books, periodicals, and other media that would cater to the Hispanic community. Aside from that, there are 3 main goals for the Milton library in order to develop the multi-cultural learning center The three goals are as follows: Find appropriate books, periodicals, and media for Hispanic patrons Develop programs to foster literacy for the Hispanic community Enhancement of job skills for the Hispanic community

The following links provided are aimed towards the three goals previously mentioned above. Each link is provided with an explanation of why those sources were used. From here, you can find resources that will prove vital in establishing literacy programs for multicultural libraries. www.soundsofenglish.org/Presentations/TESOL2005lit.doc Documentation that was adapted from the Fairfax county schools in VA that focused on literacy towards multicultural students using ESOL strategies. www.bnl.gov/esol/ Since on the subject of ESOL, here is the site for ESOL and how to effectively use the methods. Job skills training and Programs http://www.clac.state.mn.us/ Is a Hispanic organization that helps with Job skills training and programs. They are based in Minnesota and offer a local outreach for those of Hispanic descent. http://www.d.umn.edu/mlrc/ Multicultural organization that provides resources for all nationalities including Job skills and again based in Minnesota
