Why the European Right Wing is wrong Posted on allvoices

Most people have heard about the shocking, and tragic attacks in Norway. At least one suspect is being held, for the deaths of as many as 94 people, in two separate attacks. The attacks happened at a youth political camp, and near the Prime Ministers office in Norway. The suspect in the attacks currently being questioned is a Norwegian native born, blond haired 32 year old man. He has previously aligned himself with far-right social, and political opinions. His opinions were clearly anti-immigrant, and anti-multicultural, as found in writings, and internet postings. The issues that many far-right Europeans thinkers have is directly associated with changing European demographics, and the effect this is having on their culture, and future. The native born populations are being out numbered by mostly Muslim, but other immigrants from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The most popular single name given to babies born in Europe today is, Mohammed. The far-right is calling for a stop to immigration, and a return to more traditional European cultural ways, and worldview, but what they dont understand is why Europe is in the position, and why it cant stop now. At the turn of the 20th century, Whites were 30 percent of the world population, today Whites compromise about 8 percent of the world population. If one looks at world events since 1900, they will most certainly see two major world wars fought mostly in the European landscape. It is estimated 80 to100 million Europeans died in the great wars of the 20th century, wars fueled by European conflicts, and Nazi supremacy. The drain to future European populations was enormous due to these conflicts, and added lower birth rates throughout Europe since then, further compounds the effect. Immigration is a tool used my many societies to bolster certain sectors of its labor force. The massive, and complex European economies need labor, at home and aboard. So, when you add in factors like declining native born numbers, and natives with career goals, or better opportunities, immigration fills gaps for the continent as a whole. It is very economically advantageous to have a massive work force, because it drives down labor coast, and ensures the availability of labor. So, immigration in Europe is not only needed, but also becomes a benefit to the continent. Chinas impressive economic shift can directly be related these same factors, occurring within its borders. The issue for many becomes how are these people assimilated into the culture. The result

is a clash of cultures, that many natives come to resent, and despise. Far right groups then have a reason to hate their government leaders, as much as the immigrants themselves. They believe their governments are allowing what they call an, invasion, or as the suspect in the Norway shooting termed, colonization. What the far-right does not understand, is their governments cannot pass openly racist laws to prevent foreign immigration for several reasons. As I stated before the economic needs of the country, also no country is an island, and other financial, geo-political concerns must be respected. European companies export a tremendous amount of products, and services through the world. They also import a tremendous amount of the goods, and services into their countries. So, they cannot compromise these international financial relationship, for the domestic insecurities of their citizens. These insecure far-right citizens also directly benefit from their countries economic activities in the global market place. So, really they have a basic misunderstanding of the, global reality. So, the government of Norway cannot say for example pass a law forbidding Asians, or Africans from entering their communities, then expect to trade, or have diplomatic relations with these same nations. The legacy of European Colonialism, Capitalist Imperialism and the history of European Imperialism, also directly affects the Europe of today, in regards to the issue of immigration. Many of these immigrants are coming from former colonial territories, and because of economic disparities benefited from mostly in Europe, immigrants are going where they can lessen the effect of these disparities. European society is already open to many of these perspective immigrants, because of past cultural contact through colonialism. So, the immigrant already knows the language, history and manner of the country. So, the far-right is left in the position that many native people were faced with, when their lands where, invaded, by Europeans. Superior European technology allowed for native displacement, and the forced assimilation of European culture. Theres really no way to stop the flood going to Europe, or America especially as long as current world economic condition continue to present benefits for the immigrant, and the host country.
