This was posted by a senior working in TCS..... Let me tell u my ILP experience.. My DOJ was Oct 21st 2010.

i belong to C* college. Easwari college Chennai, RVCE, Bangalore was called on this. Each batch overall is termed as 'Semester'. We were from Semester 9!!! I got my call letter sharp 1 month before my DOJ.. So in that 1 month i was forc es to finish all the documents stuffs n all. Thank God we dint have this Aspire thing and all.. Aspire thing was introduced from Jan 2011 batch onwards.. Well like asusual, 1st 2 days i had my orientation program then from the next mo nday in Chennai ILP. 21st October 2011- The day which i was badly waiting came atlast!! They said us to come at 8 am itself. many came and waited before karapakkam office at 6 am it self! We were called in at 9 am only. We had some orientation sessions like various zones in TCS like Maitree, Interco mm stuffs and all.. morning session went just like that. Then each semester will be split into batches. each batch may contain upto 40 me mbers. evening we had this then certificates verification and bank account openi ng. Punitha and lakshman will be telling some stories.. The next day morning fully a technical faculty spoke about how training will be. His speech will be really frightening but nothing like that will happen. Thats the truth.. the lecture he gives will be so sleepy ( 1000 times more than my Com puter Architecture paper). Evening they will put a TATA Movie. That is another 1 mokkai. Good thing u can sleep... with that my orientation pgm got over. Then ILP.. :) :) the total fun :) In ILP, there will be 2 phases of training. 1. Common training 2. Stream training. 1. Common Training: As i already said you. there is a rule in TCS that once u complete 2 yrs, its ma ndatory for all corporates to teach 1 month in ILP. so i got a female who dint k now anything about java. Good thing is she herself will accept. So she just like that reads slides and moves. Each batch in turn will be split into sub batches with 5-6 ppl in it. In each sub batch, u will have guys as well as girls along w ith CS and Non CS ppl!!! In TCS there are 2 types of test. 1. individual assessment 2. Case study. I had 2nd one. Case study. It will be only like CS ppl who will sit n work the p roject. rest all will enjoy :) It will be like final year project. its a pure Ja va project. But Thank god, i got a good team. Since i was totally blank in C++ a nd java, my team mates helped me a lot, taught me stuffs.. :) In common training i had 2 exams. 1. Case study- 70% 2. One code exam which was individual assessment- 30% They told us that those who dint get above 50% will be filtered and will be give n 1 week spl training in Java. But all just for fun only :) they sent all of us :) :)

2. Stream training: We had 4 streams. 1. Java & J2EE 2. Mainframes 3..Net 4. Business Intelligence. Everything were on random only. All non CS guys like me will pray that they shou ld not get Java& J2EE.. :) But 1 interesting thing was, my frds who had some certifications opted their str eams rather than getting selected in random. Thats the reason i stressed more on this certifications stuff!!! For each semester, the streams vary. If asked why, they tell it depends on proje ct requirement.. i don have much info's about it. In common training we were the 1st batch to have case study. they found out that most of the ppl there enjoy n don do work.. so they stopped that case study stu ff. We were the testing batch :) :) thank god :) So in stream training, we all had individual assessment only. I was put into Business Intelligence stream.:) :) a fabulous stream :) all non C S will love it.. because its entirely new and no CS ppl will know much about it. 4 weeks i had my stream training. Stream training was split into 2 weeks of sql, plsql stuffs followed by code exa m, informatica followed by an exam and Business objects followed by an exam!!! : ) :) These will be trained by ppl who are strong in that domain.. so u can get their help anytime. I got some fabulous faculties who explained clearly. Esp 1 person named pradeep reddy. he will teach SQL in such a way that u will not feel sleepy :) :) Apart from all that u will have Learning skills, Writing skills, Team skills ses sions and all!!! So these just try to divert the mind. You will have fun.. In ILP, they will be very strict.. Keep ur mob phones silent. Then all sites blo cked!! So no use.. :) :) Dressing will be dealed very seriously.. :) So pls take care of it both Guys n G irls!!! Leave in ILP is not provided but if any emergency u can take. Butu need to bring valid proof for it the next day!!! :) So to summarise, TCS ILP is a place where u get new set of friends. Its a place where i gaurantee that u can have total fun. But one think, show ur hardwork whe n its needed, enjoy the rest :) :) Don fear too much about TCS and their test!! :) :) Nothing is there :) :)
