ABOUT SUMMER TRAINING OBECTIVES OF SUMMER TRAINING y y

The Summer Training is designed to benefit the student, the host organizations and the Institute. By design, Sumer Training permits to build an interface between class and field-based traineeship to provide linkages between theoretical concepts and practical experience.

SUMMER TRAINING- AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS y y y

Study and demonstrate the role of a professional manager in an organization. Develop appropriate attitudes, values and skills required of a professional manager. Develop an integrated understanding of functioning of organizations associated with the Institute.

SUMMER TRAINING- OPERATIONALISING

The summer training is of minimum 8 weeks duration. Each student shall have to undergo a practical training for a period of not less than 50 days during the vacation at the end of First Year. Extension of this training is permissible up to 100 days. (in exceptional cases), however such students will have to undertake special assignments on the topics they miss by their absence in the class. Based on the actual training during the vacation, the student shall write a project report on the topic selected under the guidance of a teacher and submit two copies of the same to the Director of the institute before 30th September. The Project Report shall be assessed for 150 marks. For the evaluation there will be a viva voce at the end of the third semester. Such viva-voce shall be conducted by a panel of two referees.

Provide adequate project details in the form to enable students to have a clear understanding of the problem. The project provides enough learning opportunities for the students. Ensure that the officer nominated as guide has sufficient time for guiding students. Ask the students to submit a copy of the draft report and ensure that a presentation is made to the concerned officers in your organization during the Summer Training itself. Ensure that the students follow the rules and norms applicable to officers of the organization. Please ensure that evaluation report, relieving report, payment of stipend and other expenses. (if applicable) Any incident of student misconduct or absence must be immediately reported to the Placement Officer (Summer Training). Advice the student clearly on the rules of the organization, the permissible expenses and procedures involved in setting the claims.

Collect copy of the letter to your host organization. Remember to carry your identity card, wherever you go. Report to the organization without fail on scheduled date. Do not make any false claims for journeys for which you have not made or paid. During the Summer Internship, follow the rules of conduct and regulations of the concerned organization. Please familiarize yourself with the procedures and rules of the organization, especially regarding financial matters. Be sufficiently clear about the permissible expenses limits and the mode of claiming. You are not permitted any leave during the Summer Internship period. In case of emergencies, you may apply for leave of absence to your reporting Officer. Keep Reporting Officer and Faculty Guide informed of the progress of your work. You are also expected to make an oral presentation of findings and your recommendations to the host organization at the end of the project work. With the help of your Reporting Officer, Schedule all such presentations well in advance. You should do your incorporate comments and suggestions in the Draft Report before coming to the Institute. The executive summary should include- the objective of the project, the methodology used the sources of data, your findings and their implications. Drawbacks or limitations of your study should also be highlighted. After your arrival at the Institute. You have to make presentations at the class in the presence of External and Internal Examiners, Faculty Guide and Students. The schedule of presentations will be notified.

PROJECT REPORT FORMAT:

The project report will have the following contents in the specified order: 1. Index 2. Executive Summary (Maximum 2 pages) 3. Certificate from the college in the prescribed format including the name of the student and title of the project report. 4. Certificate from the company on its letterhead in the prescribed format including the name of the student, title of the project report, during and dates of the project work. 5. Acknowledgements duly signed by the student 6. Company profile.(Not exceeding 4 pages) 7. Industry Profile (not exceeding 6 pages) 8. Instructions for the preparation of hard copy of the project report:

Students should note the following important points regarding project work: 1. The title of the project report should not be the same as the objectives. There can be more than one objective for a particular study. 2. Every objective will have at least one or more findings and corresponding suggestions. 3. Each objective must have relevant questions in the questionnaires. 4. Students must ensure adequate coverage of the topic in general and objectives in particular.

5. Colored figures/diagram/graphs/tables will add value to the presentation of the report. Every table and diagrammatic representation should have a serial number and a title and an explanation or reference to the diagram 6. The logo/ trademark of the company should appear only on the certificate of completion. 7. The project report should bear the signatures of all the following:

Submission of the Project Report

1. Two Hard copies i.e. one original copy containing all the original certificates & one photocopy containing the Xerox of the certificates of the project report [1original + Xerox=2 report]. 2. All the copies should be bound in black leather cover. The name of the project, name of the company, name of the student and name of the institute should be embossed in golden colored letters on the front page of the project report. The original report will be for the Student. One copy will be submitted to the industry/company. The internal guide is responsible for checking all these things.

3. Every student is required to get the certificate of respective company on the company letterhead. This certificate should specifically mention the dates, duration and the Title of the project and should be duly signed by the authority from the company. The internal guide is responsible for checking all these things. 4. Students are required to submit a signed copy of the project report to the internal guide after his/ her approval and signature, the student should approach the Director for his signature on the report.
