b) Derive the Raoult’s law using fugacities and state the assumptions
made.

2.a) Give a detailed account of intermolecular forces between non polar


molecules.
b) Write about polarizability and induced dipoles.

3. Discuss in detail about the molecular theory of corresponding


states and explain how it can be extended to more complicated
molecules.

4. Write in detail about Scatchard – Hildebrand theory of solutions.

5. Discuss in detail about Wilson’s extension of the Flory – Huggins


equation.

6. Obtain an expression for entropy from statistical thermodynamics


perspective.

7. Give a detailed account of the following methods for determining


activity coefficients:
a) ASOG method
b) UNIFAC method.

8. Define and explain partial molar properties.
