OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB State briefly why the job exists:


Establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems in HSE department.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop and implement effective HSE management strategy, including resource, systems, timescales, to support, contribute to, and integrate within, the organisations annual business plan and long term strategy.

2. Develop and maintains systems to establish standards relating to activities and products, including measurement and performance against establish standards and take necessary action to communicate, advice, and assist according to performance level.

Monitor and inform, communicate, and apply standards created or maintained by external relevant bodies and integrate within HSE Management System. Establish and implement necessary and effective communication strategy for the awareness and improvement of HSE issues across all departments. Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated) and on performance against standards, including liaison and corporation with HSE Management Standards bodies. Manage staff according to company standards (appraisal, discipline, training and development)

6. Manage department performance against agreed targets and budgets, and within companys policy and standards, including contribution to executive policy, objectives and strategy. 7. Liaise with customers and suppliers on issues impacting / affected by quality and HSE issues. 8. Any other duties assigned as at when due by the management

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY / LEVEL OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED


Generally the job holder performs his job without supervision. Where new or changes in procedures are required these are discussed and approved by the Management.

RELATIONSHIPS: Who are the job holders most important contacts and for what purpose?
Consider both external & internal contracts, excluding immediate supervisor and subordinates but including personnel at other Company locations if appropriate. CLIENTS: Staff of companies we work for. SUPPLIERS: Suppliers of safety related materials and service ORGANISATION: Staff of government owned safety and environmental agencies.

JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:


Indicate only the essential background AND experience necessary to perform the job competently. Good Engineering background, preferably B. Sc. /HND in Mechanical Engineering and Physical Sciences. Other disciplines in Social Sciences can be considered with 5 years experience in similar position. (Post Graduate degrees and/or other professional qualification will be an added advantage). Diploma in Safety Management with a minimum of 10 years working experience in a similar organization.
