2 Product Information
2.1 Product description
The optiPoint 500 is the new digital telephone family that can be installed worldwide on all current Siemens communication platforms with Up0/E interfaces. The optiPoint 500 family is the successor of the popular optiset E series, which was introduced in the mid nineties. Thanks to its modular platform concept and new options, the optiPoint 500 family offers a high degree of flexibility for configuring customer-specific solutions and is designed for various marketing environments. Prominent features of the optiPoint 500 Family include: Seamless migration from optiset E and earlier switch versions. optiPoint 500 telephones are perfect successor/replacement devices for optiset E telephones. New industry design geared towards future office environments. Improved modularity, integrated handset connection on the Advance model, integrated USB1.1 connection to modular telephones including API for CTI applications (no adapter required for CTI). Full duplex quality on all telephones with speakerphone mode. Adjustable display contrast for improved legibility Illuminated display on optiPoint 500 Advance Better price/performance ratio thanks to added functions. The sales release for the optiPoint 500 Family includes five terminal models and seven options (two add-on devices, five adapters). In addition, the API Callbridge TU is available for download on a USB1.1 basis. The range of models is extended to include the optiPoint 500 Economy, a digital entry-level model with display. optiPoint500 Extended scripts: A distinctive feature of the oP 500 telephone family is the user prompts via the display and the dialog keys (OptiGuide). User prompts for the oP 500 ES Family are in Chinese characters, as already realized for optiset E CHN. The optiPoint 500 extended scripts project will be implemented in two steps: optiPoint 500 V1.0 Issue 1.4 dtd. 02/2004

Service Guideline HiPath Workpoint Clients Step 1 only includes the oP 500 Standard ES with the phone ID and the same character set as the optiset E Advance Plus. This variant is downward compatible with Hicom 150/300 and HiPath 3000/4000. Step 2 includes the complete oP 500 family Economy, Basic, Standard and Advance. Only Standard remains downward compatible with older switches. The hardware is designed in such a way that if required, additional character sets can be implemented At the same time, CallBridge for Data provides an additional API on a USB1.1 basis with interfaces for data communication. CallBridge for Data, in conjunction with the USB functionality of modular optiPoint 500 terminals, can replace existing communication hardware such as ISDN PC cards or modems for example, for accessing the Internet. CallBridge TU, an API on USB1.1 basis is available for download. CallBridge for Data API on USB 1.1 basis is marketed on CD ROM. 3.1 Requirements placed on the Service personnel and skills
HiPath 3000 or HiPath 4000 Service training courses are required.

3.2 Installation and start-up

Note on programming the optiPoint 500 Advance keys. HiPath 3000 (small HiPath 3000 V3.0, Telekom release planned for 04/2002) does not automatically recognize optiPoint 500 telephones, but treats them as optiset E telephones instead: optiPoint 500 telephone optiPoint 500 Entry optiPoint 500 Economy optiPoint 500 Basic optiPoint 500 Standard optiPoint 500 Advance Generation/recognition by HiPath 3000 and HiPath 3000 Manager E optiset E Basic optiset E Advance optiset E Advance Plus/Comfort optiset E Advance Plus/Comfort optiset E Advance Plus/Comfort + optiset E key module

Due to the larger number of function keys (4 + 15) than on any optiset E telephone (max. 4 + 8), the system generated an optiset E Advance/Plus/Comfort with optiset E key module for optiPoint 500 Advance. This combination is also recognized by HiPath 3000 Manager E. The 4 + 15 function keys of the optiPoint 500 Advance are programmed with the 4 + 8 function keys of optiset E Advance Plus/Comfort and the first seven keys of the optiset E key module. The following options are available for labeling the function keys: By hand, labeling sheets are supplied with every terminal. With a PC: optiPoint 500 V1.0 Issue 1.4 dtd. 02/2004

The CallBridge TU/TA software with Workstation protocol cannot be operated simultaneously with the following components: CallBridge for Data ISDN adapter in optiPoint or optiset optiPoint IP adapter Q2180-X-100 board (SLOP2) This applies to the following systems: Hicom 300 H V 1.0, Hicom 300 E V 3.0, HiPath 4000 V 1.0 CallBridge for Data has a NDIS WAN miniport, CAPI 2.0 and a ComPort/modem port for data applications. Note: There are no provisions for a firewall -- if both a LAN connection and CallBridge for Data are installed, this could pose a security risk. For further information, see optiPoint 500 Service Manual

3.3 Maintenance
Preventive maintenance is not necessary. All optiPoint 500 telephones including add-on devices and adapters are cleared of faults by exchanging the faulty device. Devices will not be repaired. The handset cord, the handset and the connection cord of all optiPoint 500 telephones are exchangeable (see spare parts list). The service escalation process is initiated in case of errors.

3.3.1 Software corrections

Device software cannot be corrected (PROM is soldered). Updates are provided for the service providers CallBridge TU and CallBridge for Data. The HiPath Partner Net (HPPN) is available to help clients and partners of Siemens AG.

3.3.2 Hardware corrections

Troubleshooting is based on remote diagnosis. Once the cause of the reported errors has been determined, hardware/firmware problems are corrected by exchanging the product components or the entire product affected. Information on known errors and miscellaneous service topics is stored in KMOSS. ICN EN S and ICN EN HC decide on a case-by-case basis how to proceed if basic or programming errors or errors of an epidemic nature which require a module exchange are discovered (practical notes/technical change requests). Hardware corrections are limited to the supply of spare parts (see section 6).

3.3.3 New software versions

The necessary software corrections are provided as PRBs (Pre-Revision Bug Fixes) or patch packages. The HiPath Partner Net (HPPN) is available to help clients and partners of Siemens AG.

3.4 On-site system access

Systems can gain on-site access to the service providers via the local PC operating system. optiPoint 500 V1.0 Issue 1.4 dtd. 02/2004
