Special Events 50th Birthday Celebrations In 2011 Alexandra Park Library will be celebrating its 50 th birthday. Throughout the year, we will be presenting a series of exhibitions, events, competitions, quizzes and talks relating to the 1960s when the library was first opened, finishing in December with a party for all on the exact anniversary of opening. In August, we are running our Celebration Colouring Competition, which is open to all children aged four and over. Collect your 60s colouring sheet from the counter. The competition prizes will be awarded on 17th August, after the Booster Cushion Theatre show, which FAPL is kindly sponsoring this year. The theme of this years Summer Reading Challenge is Circus Stars. We have a number of activities throughout the summer, based on this theme. Please pick up a brochure from Alexandra Park Library for further details of activities. Jonny Zucker Magic Show Come and be entertained by famous childrens author Jonny Zucker, whose magic tricks are almost as good as his books! Open to all. The FCL English Programme takes a multi sensory approach, enabling childrenwhatever their learning style or ability- to develop key skills which allow them to read fluently, spell accurately and write confidently. The development of consistent, joined handwriting is an integral part of the programme. New classes are coming to the library every Tuesdays after school. If you wish your child to become of the growing numbers of children enjoying success with FCL Programmes, then come to the Open Days on Tuesday 6th September, from 4.00
