Whats new in Adobe Reader

With powerful new and improved capabilities, Adobe Reader 7.0 is an essential tool for anyone who needs to view, navigate, browse, search, or print Adobe PDF documents. Additional Adobe Reader 7.0 features are available when you open PDF documents that have additional usage rights assigned by the creator of the PDF document. These additional features include lling out forms online, adding review comments and marking up documents, working with attached les, and working with secure documents. When you open a document that has these additional usage rights, a yellow Document Messenger menu bar appears, displaying the tools that you need to work with the documents. Note: Some of the following features are available only if you use the full version of Adobe Reader 7.0. To upgrade to the full version of the free Adobe Reader 7.0, choose Help > Updates, and then click Update Adobe Reader Now. Enhanced language support The extended language support in Adobe Reader 7.0 allows you to view, search, and print PDF documents that contain Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, and Vietnamese languages, as well as Central and Eastern European languages. Forms entry, annotations, and digital signatures are supported in these languages. Forms You can ll in form elds as you did with earlier versions of Reader, or if youre working with Click-to-Type forms created in Acrobat, you can use the new Typewriter tool to add information to a form. Adobe Reader will even spellcheck your typing for you. Reviewing documents With Adobe Reader 7.0, Reader users can participate in online and email-based reviews. The person who initiates the review has to include additional usage rights in the document to be reviewed. If you receive a document with these additional usage rights, Adobe Reader 7.0 supplies all the tools and a setup wizard to walk you through the review process. (In Mac OS, browser-based reviews are supported through Safari.) You may also be invited to participate in a more structured workow using Hanko or Inkan stamps for documents that require approval from multiple levels of an organization in a particular sequence. In this type of workow, PDF documents are sent to participants in a sequential order. The person organizing the review prepares a list of participants, and then determines who in the list receives the PDF document rst, who receives it second, and so on. Approval workows are generally used for documents that require approval from multiple levels of an organization.

Document Security and Digital Signatures With Adobe Reader 7.0, you may receive an Adobe PDF document with attachments that are bundled into a secure electronic envelope (eEnvelope) designed to protect documents during transit. When you open the eEnvelope, you can extract the le attachments and save them to disk. The saved les are identical to the original le attachments and are no longer encrypted when saved. Additionally, Acrobat 7.0 users can create Adobe PDF documents using security policies that can expire and revoke documents. You can only open these secure PDF documents if you have the necessary passwords or are on the list of approved recipients. View and print attachments Acrobat 7.0 users can attach non-PDF and PDF les or pages from les to their Adobe PDF documents. If you move one of these PDF documents, the attached les or pages automatically move with the document. If the creator of the PDF has given you permission using the additional usage rights, you can edit the attached les and save your edits. You can also search the attached les. A description of each attached le is displayed in the Attachments panel of the navigation pane.If the author of the PDF document has attached les or multimedia clips, you can open these attachments, save them, or print the le. Search With the new Search PDF pane, you can search for specic words, phrases, or text strings in single or multiple PDF documents, and search PDF documents on the Internet. In Reader 7.0, you can even search the text in bookmarks and annotations. Email PDF les You can email a PDF document as an attachment from within Adobe Reader. View 3D content Creators of PDF documents can now embed 3D content. If you receive a document that contains embedded 3D content, youll be prompted to open Atmosphere to play the embedded content. Accessibility For low-vision and motor-impaired users, the new Accessibility Setup Assistant makes it easy to change the way that PDF documents appear on-screen and how theyre read by a screen reader. Single key accelerators and keyboard shortcuts make document navigation simpler. Read Out Loud You can use the Read Out Loud feature to read aloud as much of an Adobe PDF document as you need: a page, a section, or the entire document.
