Principle in life: 1.Be HONEST. Don't cheat. Cheating may put you behind bars. (Let's say you pass the boards because you cheat, you dont know the concept by heart, and you dont even know it by mind... what if during your practice you killed someone... and knowing that concept by heart and mind might just save that life... and your life as well ) 2.Know and master the basics. 3.Learn without memorizing the whole thing. Nothing beats knowing the concept by heart. 4.Learn from your mistake. Try not to commit the same mistake again. 5.Do what you can do for today even if you can put it off until tomorrow. 6.Have time to relax and reward yourself time to time to keep you motivated.. 7.Be grateful for what you have. Don't be boastful. God may take everything from you in just a split second. 8.Learn how to compliment others and know how to say "Thank you". 9.Never underestimate other's abilities. 10.Do the right thing at the right time in the right place with the right person and everything will turn out all right for you.

Ballard Maturational Assessment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Ballard Maturational Assessment, Ballard Score, or Ballard Scale is a commonly used technique of gestational age assessment. It assigns a score to various criteria, the sum of all of which is then extrapolated to the gestational age of the baby. These criteria are divided into Physical and Neurological criteria. This scoring allows for the estimation of age in the range of 26 weeks-44 weeks. The New Ballard Score is an extension of the above to include extremely pre-term babies i.e. up to 20 weeks.

The scoring relies on the intra-uterine changes that the fetus undergoes during its maturation. Whereas the neurological criteria depend mainly upon muscle tone, the physical ones rely on anatomical changes. The neonate (less than 28 days of age) is in a state of physiological hypertonia. This tone increases throughout the fetal growth period, meaning a more premature baby would have lesser muscle tone.

Apgar s scoring

About the Apgar Score

The very first test given to your newborn, the Apgar score occurs right after your baby's birth in the delivery or birthing room. The test was designed to quickly evaluate a newborn's physical condition after delivery and to determine any immediate need for extra medical or emergency care. Although the Apgar score was developed in 1952 by an anesthesiologist named Virginia Apgar, you may have also heard it referred to as an acronym for: Activity, Pulse, Grimace,Appearance, and Respiration.

The Apgar test is usually given to your baby twice: once at 1 minute after birth, and again at 5 minutes after birth. Rarely, if there are concerns about the baby's condition and the first two scores are low, the test may be scored for a third time at 10 minutes after birth.

Five factors are used to evaluate the baby's condition and each factor is scored on a scale of 0 to 2, with 2 being the best score:

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

activity and muscle tone pulse (heart rate) grimace response (medically known as "reflex irritability") appearance (skin coloration) respiration (breathing rate and effort)

Doctors, midwives, or nurses add these five factors together to calculate the Apgar score. Scores obtainable are between 10 and 0, with 10 being the highest possible score.
