2.

LORD SHARNBASAVESHWAR TEMPLE:

Lord Sharnbasaveshwar descended down to the earth in 18th century to herald a new hope for humanity. He symbolizes the essence of the Dasoha spirit.

2.1 MAHADASOHA MAHAMANE:

Mahadasoha can be described as giving without the feeling of ego serving others by shedding ego is the real act of Mahadasoha. The abode of Adi Doddappa Shararna becomes the hub of Dasoha activities and naturally the people began to call it with the fervent devotion as Mahamane which means a great home or abode. In the divine life of Poojya Appaji, the principles of Dasoha have developed into Mahadasoha philosophy, which could be practised in the world. Thus the term Dasoha lost its limited meaning and became universal. Its meaning is extended from its narrow sense and has been broadened to be accepted universally. So this Dasoha can be practised by one and all in the world. That is why it is rightly termed as Mahadasoha.

He further expands the meaning of Dasoha and says feeding a hungry man is Prasada Dasoha. There are many incidents and instances in the life of Lord Mahadasohi Sharnbasaveshwar to show that he accorded highest prominence to prasada (Sacrament) Dasoha. Even today several devotees who come with a hunger are always eagerly welcomed into the Dasoha Mahamane; its doors are always kept wide open to quench their hunger and thirst. Poojya Dodappa followed the Dasoha tradition of Lord Sharnbasaveshwar in the Dasoha Mahamane. Besides Anna Dasoha, he initiated Jnana Dasoha for the people are inquest of knowledge hunger in the year 1903 and realized the importance of education since it had been neglected by Nizam administration in this area. Further Poojya Dr. Appaji left no stone unturned to provide students not only the sacrament to satiety their hunger but spiritual knowledge to their intellectual stomach and godly culture to the hunger of their emotional heart in Jnana Dasoha.

2.2 HISTORY OF TEMPLE AND IMPORTANCE:

Adi Dodappa Sharana, the second heir of Sharnbasaveshwar; realizing the magnificent service rendered by Lord Sharnbasaveshwar right in front of Mahamane after he merged with cosmic soul, went a step ahead and decided to build a shrine over the Tomb of Lord Sharnbasaveshwar to pay highest homage on his behalf and on behalf of all devotees. Indeed as per the desire and dream of Adi Dodappa Sharana a beautiful edifice was built. But it took a long time to accomplish this mammoth task, though the planning work started during the period of Adi Dodappa Sharana; it was completed at the hands of 7th heir Poojya Dodappa Appa. It took about 9 decades for its completion when finally Pinnacle was installed.

2.3 FEATURES OF TEMPLE:

This shrine built over the Tomb is in Dravidian style, it is indeed a connoisseurs delight. It radiates the eternal values of spiritualism like truth, beauty and God. As a symbol of 36 principles of Veerashaivism the shrine has 36 pillars and arches. Veerashaivas have a glorious tradition of building shrines of spirit rather than mere statues of deities, in this sense edifice of Sharnbasaveshwar heralds the quintessence of Veerashaivism. As our body is constituted with 36

principles so also the universe is constituted with the same principle. Hence it is perceived that the body is shrine. Even Adi Dodappa Sharana must have accepted the building of Shrine over the Tomb on this very philosophy. We have 2 faces looking alike on the Tomb of Sharnbasaveshwar which symbolizes the philosophy of a live Guru and also the finest blending of the Teacher-Student God Devotee.

2.4 SCULPTURES:
Lord Sharnbasaveshwars life has been brought in the form of literature and painting, now, Parama Poojya Dr. Sharnbaswappa Appaji has taken Nobel step to bring it in sculpture form. These sculptures explain some of their greatest events in the life of Lord Sharnbasaveshwar. When Sharnbasaveshwar was coming from Aralagundagi, on the way, he prayed to God robust Bheema River giving humble way to Lord Sharnbasaveshwar. In this sculpture he is offering Son of Adi Dodappa Appa and Nillamma to the childless couple this is the supreme act of his Dasoha. Remaining sculptures explains the miracles of Lord Sharnbasaveshwar.

2.5 GOLDEN PINNACLE:

Innovating the Sharnbasaveshwar Samadhi is the brain child of Poojya Dr. Appaji. The zenith of the Sanctum Sanctorium (kalasha) gold plating is completed.
