VIEWSHED ANALYSIS
Allows user to position themselves on a DEM and determine visible areas within terrain Useful for planning purposes Begin by adding an image to Viewer
Select DEM and image

Select Image Drape option from Utility pull-down menu Opens Image Drape Viewer

Open DEM or Raster Overlay in Image Drape Viewer Close the top feature layer in Image Drape Viewer Open Image Info dialog Re-render image in Image Drape Viewer

Print contents of Image Drape Viewer Remove all layers from Image Drape Viewer Save current position parameters in Positions Editor Go to last saved position

Open Position Parameters dialog enabling user to make changes to observers position and direction of view in Image Drape Viewer Open an Imagine Viewer that contains contents of the Image Drape Viewer Open Sun Positioning dialog allowing user to reposition the sun in the viewer image so that shadows are cast in different areas

From View pull-down, select LOD Control Opens Level Of Detail dialog

From IMAGINE icon bar, click on Interpreter icon

Opens Image Interpreter menu

Select Topographic Analysis option within Image Interpreter menu Opens Topo Analysis menu

From Topo Analysis menu, select Viewshed Viewer Selection Instructions dialog opens Click in viewer containing the two images Viewshed dialog opens

Close Image Interpreter menu and Topo Analysis menu Observer marker automatically placed in center of Viewer containing the DEM image

Select Apply in Viewshed dialog Viewshed layer generated and displayed in Viewer Area marked by circle

ADDING ANOTHER OBSERVER


In Viewshed dialog, select Create Apply and a second viewshed layer is generated

In Viewshed dialog, Function tab option, legend displayed in box to the right Two kinds of output
Viewshed outputs image is color-coded to show only visible or hidden areas Height outputs color-coded map of invisible areas indicating amount of change in observer height required to see a given zone

Use mouse to reposition eye and target of the Positioning tool Results in different viewshed renditions

SAVING VIEWSHED
In Viewshed dialog, click on Save Save Viewshed Image dialog opens Save image in desired location

QUERY VIEWSHED DATA


From Raster pull-down menu, select Attributes Opens Raster Attributes Editor dialog (make sure the correct raster image is displayed)

Edit pull-down menu allows user to add data to Raster Attribute Editor You will Add Class Names and Add Area Column
Latter option opens Add Area Column dialog

Column Properties dialog box opened by selecting Column Properties from Edit pull-down menu
