Question #1 - "What exactly do we mean by eternal security'?

" The Bible teaches that our place in heaven is based not on our human performance but on what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross - - which doesn't change no matter how we perform. John Chapter 5:24a I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life. Eternal life is something that every follower of Jesus Christ has - - in all its fullness -right now here on earth. Heaven is merely a place where people who already have eternal life go - - when they leave this world. John 3:36 "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. John 6:47 I tell you the truth, the person who believes in Me has eternal life. When a person has embraced Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior God immediately grants that person salvation and eternal life and their salvation is "eternally secure" Question #2 - "Can a person have eternal life and then lose it?" John 5:24b 'And that person will not be condemned but, rather, they have crossed over from death to eternal life " To "cross over" = "change your place of residency; change your address; move" When we become a follower of Jesus Christ, God officially "moves our place of residency" from a place of eternal death to a place of eternal life. The perfect tense in Greek is used to describe: A completed action in the past The results of which go on indefinitely and irreversibly into infinity John 5:24a "The person who has believed in Jesus has eternal life and will never be condemned. " John 5:24b "But, rather, that person HAS crossed over, IS crossed over, AND ALWAYS WILL BE crossed over from death to eternal life. John 5:24 declares to us, that when we embrace Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God irreversibly transfers us from a state of eternal death to a state of eternal life - and there is no going back ever! Irreversible, Legal Agreement Hebrews 10:16 'And this is the covenant I will make with them (i.e., believers in Jesus): their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. " When a person believes in Jesus Christ, God enters into a "covenant" with that person -a legal agreement - - that John 5:24 declares to be irreversible. Term # 1 " Our sins and our lawless deeds God will remember no more." (Hebrews 10:17) Term #2 Our names are inscribed in the Lamb's Book of Life (Philippians 4:3, Revelation 21:27) Term #3 " Theres therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Jesus Christ" (Romans 8:1) Term #4 "God buries our sins in the depths of the sea." (Micah 7:19) Term #5 We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit Himself "Do you not know that your body

is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you received from God. "(1 Corinthians 6:19) Term #6 We become adopted "children of Godl' in Jesus Christ (John 1:12) ... who are "Gods elect' (Romans 8:33) and are inseparable from the love of God (Romans 8:35) Term #7 We are "branded" with God's personal seal of ownership (the indwelling Holy Spirit) "Having believed in Jesus Christ, you were branded with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, which is a down payment, guaranteeing that our final redemption will take place. " (Ephesians 1:3) Term #8 We become one of Jesus' personal sheep who can never perish "My sheep hear My voice and I know them and they follow Me. And I give to them eternal life and they shall never perish. "(John 10:27) "No one can snatch My sheep out of My hand. "(John 10:28 ) "For no one can lay any other foundation than that of Jesus Christ. "(1 Corinthians 3:11) "If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or straw - - our work will be revealed for what it is "(1 Corinthians 3:12) "Gods fire will test the quality of each person work in that Day. "(1 Corinthians 3:13) "If what we have built survives, we will receive rewards If what we have built gets burned up, we will suffer loss of rewards but we ourselves shall be saved. "(1 Corinthians 3:14)

"But now, a righteousness from God, which is apart from human performance, has been made available to us. "(Romans 3:21) "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to everyone who believes. "(Romans 3:24)
Summary When we genuinely embrace Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior ... God consummates a legal agreement with us ... Guaranteeing our place in heaven ... And this agreement is irreversible and irrevocable for all of eternity
