FKG Dentaire RaCe

RaCe exclusive features Non-cutting Safety Tip > Perfect control of the instrument, steers clear of lateral canals Alternating cutting edges > no screwing, nor blocking effect Sharp cutting edges > better penetration and debris evacuation Electro-chemical surface treatment > better resistance to torsion and metal fatigue, facilitates cleaning and sterilisation SafetyMemoDisc (SMD) > to count number of uses which guards against metal fatigue RaCe in the canal
Enter with RaCe in rotation and keep it rotating while in the canal Make long, slow in and out movements with no apical pressure. Feel you are painting the walls of the root canal, brushing them Maximum 4-5 seconds per instrument Clean the blade regularly and re-enter canal with instrument rotating Use lubricants to facilitate dentin cutting, and irrigate thoroughly to remove the debris during preparation In oval or flat canals, remember filing against the walls to clean into canal crevices found on buccal and in lingual walls Remove organic debris and smear layer by using NaOCl and EDTA Sclerosed canals: if RaCe 15/.02 does not negotiate the canal, use a manual file size 10 curved at the tip or an S-Apex size 15

FKG RaCe & SMD... the 7 keys to success

1. Speed & Torque - set a constant speed between 300-600, recommended 600 rpm - torque from 1 to 1.5 Ncm (Pre-RaCe) and 0.5 to 1 Ncm (RaCe) 2. Apical pressure Always gentle - have a light hand - and let the instrument work. 3. Clink A clacking of the instrument warns about too much apical pressure. 4. Movement Make long & slow strokes (like painting) - RaCe does not screw! 5. Progression Enter the canal in rotation and never force the instrument; if there is resistance, try to recapitulate with a hand file or use a S-Apex. 6. Working time 4-5 seconds per instrument: e.g. up to 4 strokes. 7. Mastering metal fatigue Follow SMD & decrement table method*: remove some petals after each use, according to the difficulty of shaping, e.g.: Simple canal 1-2 petals, Medium canal 2-4 petals, Difficult canal 4-8 petals.

How to operate

FKG Dentaire RaCe

SafetyMemoDisc
For better risk control and metal fatigue How many times can RaCe be used? There is no straight answer follow SafetyMemoDisc instructions: remove one petal after instrumenting rather straight, trouble-free canals, 2 or 3 after instrumenting curved difficult canals, 4 after severely curved or very narrow canals. Discard RaCe after all petals have been removed. It is also advisable to use a new RaCe in narrow and/or very curved canals.

FKG Dentaire offers two basic sequences:

Easy RaCe

Xtreme RaCe

Easy RaCe - for most canals (up to 80% of cases)

Xtreme RaCe - for more difficult canals

Pre-RaCe & RaCe availability:

- Assorted (Easy or Xtreme RaCe) - Packs of individual sizes (5 units/box) - Length in mm: Pre-Race 19; RaCe 21, 25 (31 on request) - handles: CM short 12 mm CA Manual
