Offering placed on the altar rail next Sunday, during Holy Communion, is used to help those in need in our church and the community. Theme for August 14 - Canned Food Sunday - to help fill 2x4 boxes. The following items are needed to complete more boxes: mashed potatoes, rice, cereal, spaghetti & sauce & canned milk. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. MODELs will meet at 12:30 pm on August 18 at Mesa de Notte, 2435 E. Silver Springs Blvd. If you plan to attend, please email your reservation to dhumcvol@yahoo.com or call the office by August 16. Dont forget to bring a dollar to be donated to a local charity at the end of the year. Helping Hands Foundation, Inc - is a nonprofit charity, serving the people of Ocala/Marion County. It was established to provide shelter & related assistance for the homeless & others who are in difficult & desperate situations. Helping Hands is having several fundraising events at local businesses. The first fundraiser is Tuesday, Aug. 16 at Sonnys Bar-B-Q, 4102 E. Silver Springs Blvd. With the flyer, purchase one entre & get one half price (of equal or lesser value). Sonnys will donate 15% of proceeds for every flyer used. Second fundraiser is Thursday, Aug. 25 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Chick-fil-A, 3558 SW College Rd. Mention Helping Hands & they will donate 10% of your purchase. The third fundraiser is from 5 pm to 9 pm on Sept. 5 at Applebees, 2615 SW 19th Ave. Present the flyer to your server & Applebees will donate 10% of your purchase. Flyers are available in the church office and in Fellowship Hall. Great Lakes Scrip Center News! O.co 2% Bonus - O.co (also known as Overstock.com) will be offering a 2% bonus contribution from Sat., July 30 through Fri., August 19, 2011. The cards will have a 10% non-profit contribution, instead of the normal 8%, during that period. CVS/ pharmacy 1% Bonus - CVS/pharmacy will be offering a 1% bonus contribution from Sat. August 6 through Friday, August 26, 2011. The cards will have a 7% non-profit contribution, instead of the normal 6 %, during that period.
