South Atlantic Region- Constitution

Article I- Name Section 1. The name of this conference shall be South Atlantic Region. Article II- Purpose Section 1. The purpose of this region, a non-profit organization, is to formulate and maintain policies that will safeguard the educational values of interscholastic competition, to cultivate high ideals of sportsmanship, to develop and direct a program which will promote, protect and conserve the health and physical welfare of all participants, and to promote uniformly of standards in all interscholastic completion. Article III- Membership Section 1. Section 2. Only accredited post graduate programs shall be eligible for membership. New members may be added when: (1) Acceptance by the Southern Preparatory Athletic Association Executive Committee and upon being accepted by a majority vote of the members of the SAR. The following schools are members of the South Atlantic Region: Orangeburg Calhoun Prep Academy, Greenville Titans, TriCounty Hawks and Port City Prep. Each member program shall pay an annual fee of $250 for membership in the Southern Preparatory Athletic Association. Article IV- Officers Section 1. The officers of this Region shall be a President, a Vice-President, and a Treasurer. The president and current vice-president shall be our delegates to the Legislative Assembly of the SPAA Executive Committee each year. The President and Vice-President shall be an administrator/Athletic Director and must be in compliance with the requirements of the Southern Preparatory Athletic Association Constitution. The Presidency will be filled by the same program for two years. a third term if elected by of the membership. No member school shall fill the presidency four (4) consecutive years.

Terms of the office shall run from Spring Conference to Spring Conference. The duties of the Region President shall include: a. Presiding at all Region and/or Executive Committee meetings. b. Serving as the Region delegate to the Southern Preparatory Athletic Association Executive Committee. c. Appointing all committees necessary to accomplish the objective of the Region. d. Ensuring that all member schools are notified of all matters affecting and/or pertaining to the Region. e. Referring matters he/she deems appropriate to the Executive Committee. f. Calling special Conference and/or Executive Committee meetings and setting the date, time, and site for such meeting. g. Appointing a Region Secretary. The region Vice-President shall assume all responsibilities and duties of the Region President in the Presidents absence and/or incapacitation. The Secretary shall be responsible for submitting minutes of all Region and/or Executive Committee meetings to the member schools. The Treasurer shall be responsible for submitting a financial statement to the region and shall be authorized to handle all funds for the region. The Nominating Committee will consist of the Athletic Directors from each school and will report at the March meeting. Nominations may be given from the floor. All nominees must have consented to accept the office and fulfill its duties if The election will be held at the March meeting.

The Executive Committee of the Region shall consist of three (3) members. The members shall be the President, Vice-President and Treasurer elected by the other Region members. This committee shall be formed at the March meeting and is responsible for

resolving problems that cannot be resolved by the total membership. Section 10. Committees shall be appointed by the Region President as necessary to accomplish Region objectives. The Chairperson of each committee shall be the Region representative of the standing committee of the Region for that sport. Article V- Meeting and Business Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held in September, November, January, and March. The President may change the date of a regular meeting if given consent by the Executive Committee and member schools are provided a weeks notice. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the President. The Secretary shall notify each member school one (1) day prior to each meeting. Regular meeting times and sites will be set by the President. A fine of $100 will be levied against a school that is not represented. This fine shall be assessed by the Region President. Rules relating to conduct of business in the meeting will follow Roberts Order Revised. Section 4. Majority of the member schools shall constitute a quorum for business. Article VI- Amendments to the Constitution Section 1. (30) days in advance, in writing, of the proposed amendment. The Secretary shall be responsible for making this notification. This constitution may be amended at a regular meeting provided that the proposed amendment has been read at the previous meeting or if each member school is notified thirty
