ANSWERS: Job Design 1.1: Yes.


It is important to include task variety in the design of work. This is best done by mixing intensive keyboard use and other computer use with a variety of other work. It is important that the different tasks involve a change in posture and muscles used to perform the work. 1.11 No Repetitive tasks such as using a computer should be performed for short periods. They are best interspersed with other tasks requiring different movements and postures such as collecting the documents at the printer, reviewing, photocopying and distributing documents. 1.12 NO avoid sitting for long periods of time. Some form of break from sitting every 20 to 30 minutes is helpful. Even getting up for 20 to 30 seconds to go to a printer or standing while talking on the telephone will provide some relief.

1.13 No Getting employees and people to concentrate fortasks more than two hours shouldn t be necessary since people attention span wouldn t last as long and also they would eventually start to lose interest. Regular breaks are recommended. 1.14 Yes

People benefit from involvement in decisions relating to their work, such as the method of work and the order tasks are carried out, particularly when changes are planned. Employees achieve satisfaction when given some control over how their job is done.

Workstations
7.1 Yes All workstations are adequate for the tasks being performed. (computer work) 7.1.1 Yes Sufficient gap between computers ensures gap for papers. 7.1.2 Yes Keyboards are easily accessible and have adjustable height in order to suite the individuals needs. 7.1.3Yes All Chairs and keyboards are adjustable to people needs. 7.1.4. Yes All workstations are setup in the same way and is setup simply to avoid any awkward postures and the rotating chairs assist people when they need to turn around.

7.2 Yes, the tasks being performed include typing and clicking of the mouse and nothing more apart from looking at sheets of paper.
7.3. Visual Display Units.


10.1 Yes the computer is adequate for the task being performed which is mostly typing and using applications such as word. 10.1.1 The force required to press the keys are Not either light or hard, a balance of both. 10.1.2 Yes the screens offer adjustability for brightness and contrast. 10.1.3 The screens do not offer adjustability for height. 10.1.4 No there is no place that conceals the keyboard, however the keyboard is adjustable in height.

Radiation.
11.1 No new LCD VDUs are being used which are in very good condition. 11.1.1 The old VDUs are not being used so hence the need for radiation isnt required. 11.1.2 No staff arent located any a 1 meter direction of a VDU
