FOR BFA APPLICANTS WITH THE INTENDED MAJORS OF:

Architectural Design, Communication Design, Design and Technology, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Integrated Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Product Design.
THE ADMISSION COMMITTEE WILL MAKE A DECISION ON YOUR APPLICATION ONLY AFTER THE REQUIRED MATERIALS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED: REQUIREMENTS: 1. APPLICATION: Complete the online application found at

https://apply.embark.com/ugrad/NewSchool/Parsons/Ugrad 2. APPLICATION FEE: Payment of a $50 non-refundable application fee is required. Payment can be made by credit card, check, or money order. 3. OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS: All applicants must submit official high school or college transcripts. Transfer applicants who have completed fewer than 24 college credits from a semester system must also submit high school transcripts.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSCRIPTS: All applicants with international transcripts are required to submit

an original transcript from each institution attended outside the United States, along with a certified English language translation. Applicants who would like to transfer academic credits earned at non-U.S. institutions are also required to have their transcript(s) evaluated by World Education Services (WES) at http://www.wes.org, our preferred provider, or by another member of the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES). A course-by-course evaluation report must be prepared for each transcript. Please start the evaluation process as early as possible, including the submission of all required documents to WES (or another provider), in order to ensure the timely completion of the evaluation report. In addition, an admission counselor may require a transcript evaluation by WES or an NACES-approved evaluator if it is deemed a necessary part of the admission decision process, even when applicants do not want transfer credits applied to a program of interest. If your provider is unable to send the evaluation report directly to the school, please obtain the report and send it to Parsons, along with a Materials Cover Sheet, found at http://www.newschool.edu/admission/coversheet/parsons-ug/. 4. SAT OR ACT RESULTS: Required of all applicants currently in American high schools. 5. TOEFL (TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE) EXAM RESULTS: Required if English is not your native language. Minimum score required: 580 paper-based, 237 computer-based, or 92 Internet-based. International students should register to take the exam at the earliest date available. Visit the Educational Testing Service website at http://www.ets.org/ for more information. Applicants have the option of enrolling in The New School English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Students must pass Level 6 in order to waive the TOEFL requirement. Visit the ESL website at http://www.newschool.edu/ce/englishlanguagestudies/ for more information. 6. PARSONS CHALLENGE: All applicants must complete the Parsons Challenge found at http://www.parsons.edu/admission/apply/undergraduate/parsons_challenge.aspx. This exercise helps the Admission Committee understand how a potential student structures and conveys ideas. 7. PORTFOLIO: Applicants with the intended majors of Architectural Design, Communication Design*, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Integrated Design, Interior Design, and Product Design should submit a portfolio of 8 to 12 pieces of work such as drawings, paintings, photographs, digital media, design, or three-dimensional work.

Application Instructions for the BFA Program

Applicants to direct-entry Design and Technology* should submit a portfolio of 8 to 12 pieces of work such as drawings, paintings, photographs, digital media, design, or three-dimensional work. While expertise in digital technologies is not a prerequisite for admission, applicants may also include works in Web design, animation, video, and other digital media if they have completed such projects. Applicants to direct-entry Photography should submit a portfolio that mainly emphasizes their photographic work and demonstrates both artistic skills and conceptual solutions. * Applicants who intend to major in Communication Design may also apply for admission to direct-entry Design and Technology as first-year students.

Parsons Challenge Submission Options 1. Preferred Method: Online using SlideRoom http://parsons.slideroom.com 2. By Mail using cross platform CD or DVD.

Portfolio Submission Options You must submit your Parsons Challenge using the same method selected for your portfolio.

BFA and BA/BFA Applicants

MORE INFORMATION: Slides, original artwork, power point presentations, binders, and flash drives are not accepted. Images mailed on a CD or DVD should be no larger than 2MB each. Label your CD or DVD with your name and date of birth. If you are submitting your portfolio and Parsons Challenge on a CD or DVD, please include both on one CD or DVD. A materials cover sheet must be attached.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Submitted Materials: All materials submitted to the Office of Admission become the property of Parsons. Accepted Applications: When notified of acceptance, applicants will receive complete instructions for additional procedures regarding financial aid, housing, tuition and fees, I-20 visas (for nonresidents of the United States), and other matters. The decision to admit applicants is always contingent upon their successful completion of any current studies and the receipt of their final transcripts by the Admission Committee. Interviews: Interviews are not required. Applicants with questions about Parsons or the admission process are encouraged to attend an information session.
