A Paddle and Golf Tournament to Benefit the Matthew Larson Pediatric Brain
Tumor Foundation
The IronMatt mission is to raise the awareness and funds needed to overcome pediatric brain tumors and help the children and
families affected by it. Matthew Larson was 2 ½ years old when he was diagnosed with a Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a rare
type of brain tumor. Matthew battled his disease while enduring numerous invasive surgeries on his head and spine, radiation
treatments, steroid treatments, high dosage chemotherapy, brain shunts, and a stem-cell transplant. Matthew lost his five year
battle one month after his seventh birthday. Matthew’s mother Kelly, along with friends and family, created a foundation in his
name. They wanted to help the thousands of children and families affected by what is now the # 1 disease killer of children
under the age of twenty. The foundation has made great strides in the last year- including developing a support network
among hospitals and helping brain tumor families by providing housing at the Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan. The
Foundation has established a world-class Medical Advisory Committee and recently funded three major Medical Research
Grants for programs at UCLA, Dana Farber/ Harvard, and Memorial Sloane Kettering. We hope that with your continued
support we can help these kids and move one step closer to overcoming all pediatric brain tumors.
