Master of Arts in Liberal Studies

Are you looking to puruse an intellectual passionhistory, literature, art, sociology or psychologyin a way thats innovative and interdisciplinary? Would you like to gain confidence in analytic and critical thinking, writing and other communication skills to push the boundaries of a traditional graduate education in preparation for the next stage of your life? Program Focus The focus of MALS is liberal arts. You are typically pursuing a graduate program to launch you into the next stage of your career, to seek personal enrichment or to prepare for further education in a new field. Core Curriculum MALS has a core curriculum beginning with four rich interdisciplinary courses and ending with a thesis or culminating project of your own design. Between the core and the culminating project, you choose electives from any area in the liberal arts, creating your own concentration. What Makes Our Program Unique? MALS is an interdisciplinary graduate program for working adultsa true masters program with intellectual rigor. For MALS students, education is a priority. Through the program, you will be transformed into a confident intellectual with knowledge and skills that can advance your personal success and satisfactionin life and in the world.

Admission Procedures and Requirements To apply, please visit depaul.edu/apply. In addition to submitting your online application, make sure to send the following documents to The Office of Graduate Admission (address below): (1) Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Applicants must have a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution or be in the process of completing a bachelors degree. For the best chance of success in these programs, you should have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the last two years of undergraduate education. Please note: Official translations must be submitted for all educational documents originally issued in a language other than English. (2) Two-part MALS admissions essay (found on the MALS website at las.depaul.edu/mals). Interview: Finally, an interview is required. Students considering the MALS program are encouraged to contact us for an informal, informational interview.
