EDITORIAL MESSAGE Greetings and Happy 2011! This Factual Flash e-newsletter is intended for the people of SVCET to communicate about events occurring in the SVCET and to provide few current technical news .This e-newsletters is aimed at mailing FACTUAL FLASH as quarterly issue. The Factual Flash eNewsletter will collect contributions from Editors-in-Chief as well as from Editorial committee members of the Newsletter, In this issue the Factual Flash will provide the readers with news and information organized in two different sections calendar of events, and achievers list. I congratulate our final year outgoing Students Vipin Vijay and Feby of CSE and Kavitha Vanipriya of IT for their exemplary work for the successful issues of this enewsletter.Success of this e-newsletter depends on getting several creative inputs from SVCET family. Calendar of Events L Dec 04, 2010 FDP Mrs.V.Anne Vinusha, Lecturer/CSE Department has participated in an eight days training program on Certificate in JAVA Programming,Conducted by ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu From 04-12-2010 to 11-12-2010 at PET Engineering College. Dec 06,2010 Auditing ISO auditing of various departments in SVCET took place and was successfully completed by Guardian Independent Certification Limited and Accreditation body JAS ANZ. FDP *Mr. Dhakshana Moorthy K, lecturer of Computer Science and Engineering Department has participated in eight days training program on Certificate in .NET Programming conducted by ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu from 04-Jan-2011 to 11-Jan-2011,held at St.Xaviers Catholic Engineering College. Dec 07,2010 Placement Activity Interview was conducted by Shriram Transport finance company limited for the position of Management trainee at SVCET campus for B.E/B.TECH/MBA/PGDM and recruited many students for their company. *A special three days training program from 4.01.2011 to 6.11.2011 was conducted for final year students by TIME Tirunelveli The training focused on General Aptitude test, Group Discussion and personal interview. Jan 08,2011 Association Activities Association of Mechanical Engineers AOME meeting held on 08.01.2011 ,faculties and students discussed about the steps/actions needed to improve Student academic and other technical skills. Jan 08,2011 Pongal Celebrations On behalf of the Pongal celebrations, SV college students participatred in several competitions held at SV campus. Jan 19,2011 Thaipongal festival celebration SVCET in collaboration with Suryan FM radio conducted a pongal festival VAYALODU VILAYADI (A non stop entertainment programme) between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at our college campus . The function was grandly celebrated under the leadership of our beloved chairman Dr.V.Murugiah and Principal Dr.V.Manikandan. The function was presided by Mr.S.ThangaVelu M.P and the Guest was Mr.Sankarasubbu, Manager of Suryan FM. SV group college students and public from Tirunelveli,Virudhunagar and Thuthukudi district participated and the fabulous program were organised as Mega Pongal Mayilattam Oyillattam Thappattam Training & Placement Linguistic training programme for all second year students was conducted for three days from 19.01.2011 to 21.01.2011 by GLAZE SOLUTIONS Chennai Jan 22,2011 FDP *Our Faculty members K.A Mehar Ban A.P/CSE and M.VijayaLaksmi Lect/CSE department has attended a seminar on Cloud Computing,organized by IETE-TrivandrumNagercoil PAC at District Science CenterTirunelveli.

Placement- job fair * A two-day job fair began on Jan 22 in SVCET, where Students and graduates of various discipline from in and around tirunelveli districts applied for various job openings and grabbed their opportunity. JOB FAIR was organized by our respected principal Mr V Manikandan and training and placement officer Mr P.Muthukumar. Jan 29,2011 FDP Mr. D.R.Ramji/Lecturer of ECE Dept has attended one day seminar on Latest Trends in EDA Technology conducted by Mentor Graphics, Tanner and Trident Tech labs held at Sri Janakiram Hotel, Tirunelveli. Feb 2,2011 Association Activities Ignaci Selvam C and Vijayalaya Chozhan of 4th /I.T.dept delivered a seminar on Computer Hardware and trouble shooting.The seminar dealt with computer components & hardware, advanced computing techniques, understanding system problem and troubleshooting, BIOS. Feb 25,2011 Feb 26,2011 College day The college day was celebrated in grand manner, welcome address was given by honorable Vice Chairman Mr. V. Palani. The annual report was given by the principal Dr. V Manikandan The chief guest Mr. Radhakrishnan, Deputy manager, TANCEM distributed the prizes to winners of cultural cultural competitions _ Classical Dance, Solo Song,Group Dance,Solo Dance,Pair Dance,Skit,Mime and academic achievers Boys Hostel Day Hostel Day Function was celebrated in the hostel premise for boys, the principal was the chief guest deputy warden, and all the hostel students. Prizes were bagged by the academic achievers, sports personals. Special mementos were given to all the staffs of the mess. After this the cultural programs were started.
