In a world increasingly indiferent to Christian truth, followers
of Christ need to be equipped to communicate with those who
do not speak their language or accept their source of authority.
This summer our panel of presenters will share how you can
get in the drivers seat, keeping any conversation moving with
thoughtful, artful diplomacy. Youll learn how to maneuver
comfortably and graciously through the mine felds, stop
challengers in their tracks, turn the tables
and---most importantly---get people thinking about Jesus.
The class book is available for purchased for $15 from the
church library.

Celebration in the Park
City planners have decided that the community-wide Celebration
of Faith will not take place this year. However, our church has been
ofered the use of the park. So, on August 28 we will host our own
Celebration in the Park. The day will start with worship then Aaron
Redelsperger will lead a service project for all who are willing to help
(mowing lawns of vacant homes). Then we will all meet at Capital Vil-

worship with work clothes, blankets or lawn chairs, and be ready for a
day of worship, service and fellowship.
Spaghetti Feed Fund Raiser
Last year the Rancho Cordova Christmas Tree was vandalized beyond
repair. We will host a city-wide Spaghetti dinner to help raise money
for the citys new Christmas Tree. Our congregation has a long history
of helping the city with the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony each
year. This event will give us an opportunity to invite the community
to our campus and let them see that we are a congregation that loves
God and people. The Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser will be at 6 p.m. on
September 4 in the Family Life Center. Suggested donation for dinner
will be $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.

Why We Believe in Jesus.

Why We Believe in Jesus
Matthew 16:13-16
This weeks sermon focused on what we believe about Jesus and why
we believe it. If we are not convinced of something we will fnd it dif -
cult to share with others in a convicting manner. If we are to efectively
share our faith, we need to understand what we believe and why we
believe it. The core of our belief is in the person of Jesus Christ. The
more we are convinced of who Jesus is the more equipped we will be
to share him and his message with others.
1. Give an example of someone you know personally or someone
generally who demonstrates (or who demonstrated) a strong belief in
or conviction about something.
2. What relationship do you see between being convinced about
something and having the willingness to share with others what you
believe?
3. Jesus, himself, is the focus of our faith. What is it that you believe
about Jesus and how might that truth about him be relevant to the
people you are seeking to reach?
4. How would you complete the following sentence? Jesus is
m| gr oup Mat er i al
5. The core of our belief is that Jesus is the Son of God. What does that mean to
you?
6. How is the truth about Jesus being the Son of God relevant to the people you
are seeking to reach?
7. The apostles constantly preached the message that Jesus was the Christ.
What does that mean to you?
8. How is the truth that Jesus is the Christ relevant to the people you are seeking
to reach?
9. How would you prove to someone that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God?
10. What other thoughts do you have about why we believe in Jesus?
