Public Comment Invited on New Documentary about Sustainable New England Forum
Public comment has been invited in response to the new documentary about the New England Sustainability Strategy Public Forum. The documentary was filmed by students from the local TAFE multimedia course. The documentary has been launched online and can be viewed on the official website for the New England Sustainability Strategy at: http://ness.wikidot.com/forum-video The purpose of this documentary is to inform the wider community about the sustainability issues and initiatives raised at the Public Forum so that they too can make comment and input into the New England Sustainability Strategy says Adam Blakester, convenor of the New England Sustainability Strategy Executive (nicknamed NESSiE1). The Public Forum was held at NERAM in September 2008 as the first major step towards developing the New England Sustainability Strategy. The Forum was also the final event of the Sustainable Living Expo 08. All too often planning and negotiations are done by an exclusive group and exclude the wider community, continues Blakester, which is why this documentary is so important in openly showing the work done and giving the community a way to have their say. A wide range of people and organisations have been involved in the development of what is called a whole of community sustainability strategy for the New England Region. More than 120 community leaders and experts attended the Public Forum Plans are now underway for a public screening of the documentary and the Report on outcomes from the Public Forum will be available shortly. This Report will also form the foundation of the whole of community New England Sustainability Strategy. Public input and comments about the documentary can be made via blog at: http://ness.wikidot.com/blog-update Further details contact Adam Blakester on 6775 2501, 0419 808 900 or adam@paradigmplay.net. The New England Sustainability Strategy is funded by the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change, Armidale Dumaresq Council and Armidale Family Support Services.
