Danny posing with his fans.

By Eddie Montao From the very moment that Danny White walked through the door at Babes Sports Bar & Grill he made it known that he appreciated everyone being there. People traveled from distances long and short for the opportunity to have an

interaction with former QB Danny White. He gave them all an experience that they will never forget. He told stories of his glory days with the Cowboys and let members have the Honor of wearing his Super Bowl ring. He even gave a few fans the experience of playing catch with a College Football Hall of Famer. I couldnt have asked for anything else said Gooch Conde after the event. All proceeds made from all the autographs that were purchased are going to support the National Football

Foundation. Their mission is to help college and high school football athletes succeed on and off the football field. Danny White spoke to the crowd that had gathered and said You have no idea how important you are to the Dallas Cowboys. The (Dallas Cowboys) appreciate your support more than you know. Everyone that was in attendance now knows because you, Mr. White, showed them with your class and the experience you graced the fans with. Thank you, Danny White!!!

Cowboys win a wild one in preseason opener.

By Jacquelyn Montao In the final 15 seconds of their first show of the 2011 preseason, the Dallas Cowboys scored a touchdown and completed a twopoint conversion to beat the Denver Broncos, 24-23. Third-string quarterback, Stephen McGee, was 14 of 24 for 208 yards and had three touchdowns for the day. McGee, who played for the majority of the game, showed vast improvements from his two previous seasons in the league. Rob Ryans defense showed some flashes of progress, particularly on the first drive, as the Broncos were deep in the red zone and were held to only three points. The defense held both QBs Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow to just 9 combined points, but allowed Brady Quinn 120 passing yards and two touchdowns. Some noteworthy performances include wide receiver, Dwayne Harris and running back, Phillip Tanner. Harris scored two touchdowns and ended the day with 127 yards on five catches. RB, Tanner, earned 44 yards on nine carries. The Boys next game will be against the San Diego Chargers on August 21st.

Dallas Cowboys frugal during free agency. What?!?!?!

By Eddie Montao Many fans of the Dallas Cowboys have been conditioned that once free agency begins to expect one of the few big named athletes to shortly be having a press conference announcing them as the newest Dallas Cowboy. Well this year many fans were left shocked as many of these stars that had been tied to the Cowboys were signing one right after another with other teams. Not to mention quite a few of them joined a division rival. Shortly after the lockout was resolved, the Cowboys needed to work on their salary cap. They began $14 million over the cap. After releasing some of their own players, they had left themselves with only $5 million to resign their own free agents and draft picks. Now, when they created this space, they sacrificed some of next years cap room. They will have $23 million less than most other teams to operate within next years cap. The Cowboys decided to stray from their normal routine and follow the way that more consistent playoff contenders approach free agency. Teams such as the Steelers, Patriots and Colts hardly ever make a splash in free agency because they believe that if that player was that talented, then the original team would have kept them. They instead tend to build their teams through the draft and pick up serviceable players in free agency that can fill-in until a drafted player can take that role. Then if they release those free agents there is no repercussion that will add dead cap space to future years. Over the years the Cowboys free agent additions would raise expectations, but would hugely underachieve. Time will tell if this method proves to be successful for them, but at least it wont be at the cost of future years.
