Introduction
Welcome to the top!
Success occurs in the lives of specific people for specific reasons. Success is not something that randomly happens to you; it is something that you make happen. There is no magic. It is not complex. If you will invest the time to find out what other people have done to be successful, and then begin doing the same things, you too, in due season, will achieve similar results. Nobody really wants to be mediocre or average. The seeds of greatness lie within us all. It is only when we stop believing that a better life is possible that we begin to settle for less, convincing ourselves that it just wasnt meant to be. This audio series was developed for those who look to God and themselves as the solution to their problems and the path to an extraordinary life here on earth. Imagine trying to hit a dart board in a room with no lights on. Even in the dark you would eventually hit the board, and if you continued for long enough you would probably hit a bulls eye. But if you turned on the lights, gathered a large supply of darts, and invested ample time to practice, you would significantly reduce the time it would take to hit the dart board. And when you finally hit the bulls eye people would call you lucky. But you werent lucky. You were just willing to do more things to ensure that you hit 4 www.successisnotanaccident.com

the bulls eye. Success Is Not An Accident, Secrets of the Top 1%, was designed to help you identify the factors within your control that will increase the odds that you hit the bulls eye in your own journey through life. Together, the ten lessons in this series represent a complete system for managing yourself and your life more effectively. When you begin to incorporate the principles from each lesson into your daily life, you will begin to report the same positive results our 1% clients have repeatedly experienced. We know this is true. We have seen it happen over and over again with our clients. We can assure you that the life management system you are about to learn will work for you to the exact degree that you apply its principles consistently in your day to day life. This audio curriculum, in essence, contains a formula that has been proven to generate positive, predictable results.

Timeless Principles
Weve observed throughout our experience that when individuals stray from timeless principles, trouble and adversity of some kind are never far behind. You can observe this for yourself with children and adults alike. There are unwavering principles that govern each area of our lives as well as principles that govern our lives as a whole. When we attempt to bend, stretch, or otherwise pervert these principles, we set ourselves up for pain and regret in the long run. The most successful individuals

888.663.7372

who have ever lived have resisted the natural human tendency to make up their own little laws of life. Likewise, if you want to develop all the potential within you, you must avoid the trendy principle of the day mentality that has permeated our society. The good news about universal principles is that they will always be there for you. No matter how often you abandon or slander them, they will still welcome you back like the prodigal son with open arms. You will, naturally, experience the repercussions of getting off track, but the right course is only a principle or two away.

into practice consistently is the prerequisite for designing a life worth living. This interactive playbook also includes a variety of drills or exercises that sharpen your understanding and application. For the rest of Success Is Not An Accident, Secrets of The Top 1%, allow us to be your personal life coaches. As we tell our clients, Our goal is to help you reach your goals. Throughout each lesson in this series, we will challenge you to be the best you can be. Weve tried to speak with an underlying tone of encouragement and accountability. Sometimes, like any good coach, we may appear overly blunt or even harsh. Dont take it personally. We just dont want to let you off the hook. We do not want to see you cheat yourself and your family out of the fruits of your full potential. As you progress through each lesson, you will find the most practical and usable methods for improving your results that have ever been developed.

Brilliant on the Basics

The principles supporting each lesson in this series can be compared to the fundamentals in baseball. The baseball team that adheres to the fundamentals most consistently wins most consistently. It is really no mystery at all. When a team drifts into a slump, it is often described as playing sloppy ball. This description simply means they have strayed from the fundamentals of winning baseball. Even a talent-packed team of superstars will stop winning consistently when they fail to execute the proper fundamentals. By refocusing on the fundamentals, individuals, as well as teams, break out of slumps. View the lessons in this program as your playbook for successful living. This playbook describes the essential fundamentals for living an exceptional life. Putting these fundamental principles

Change Your Life

Throughout this program, we will give you new information, new perspectives, new strategies, and new skills. We will break the complex into the simple. Sometimes, though, we will not be teaching you anything new. Well just be reminding you of what must be done and exactly when you need to do it. We truly hope you will implement the entire system laid out in this audio series. If you do, it will change your life forever.

Sow, Then Reap

Success is a planned outcome, not an accident. Success and failure are both absolutely predictable because they follow the natural and immutable Law of Sowing and Reaping. Simply stated, if you want to reap more rewards, you must sow more service, contribution, and value. Success in life is not based on need, but on seed. So youve got to become good at either planting in the springtime or begging in the fall. Remember, your success blesses others. As you increase the quality and quantity of your service to others, your rewards increase as a natural consequence. Go for it!

The MindScripting Five

Dwelling on the Positive
MindScripting is a mental exercise that trains your mind to achieve positive feelings, behaviors, and results. Through years of working with hundreds of coaching clients in The 1% Club, and thousands more in my public events, weve become convinced that the ability to focus on the positives in your life, sometimes called Treasure Hunting, is an indispensable success skill and goal accelerator.

www.successisnotanaccident.com

888.663.7372

In MindScripting, you are prompted to answer specific questions. The questions are intended to steer your awareness toward something positive and productive. Your thinking can only be as good as the questions you repeatedly ask yourself. At the beginning of each lesson, we will ask you to reflect upon and answer questions that refresh stale thinking patterns and promote gratitude, confidence, optimism, and clarity about your future. Answering these questions will renew your mind and make you feel fully awake, fully alert, and fully alive. This daily dose of questions is like feeding your mind positive mental vitamins. Youll find that these MindScripting questions instantly divert your thinking from the negative and self-defeating to the positive and potential-promoting.

Thought of the Day

You are a Sponge!

Coachs Notes
The Results Model is a mental tool or mental construct that provides you with a visual diagram of what is going on in your life and helps you understand why. It will also help you make sense out of other peoples behaviors and the reasons behind them. There are seven factors that, collectively, make up what we call The Results Model. In this lesson and the next, we will review each of these seven elements as they provide the foundation for the rest of this series.

Exposure is the next component of The Results Model and refers to all the inputs in your life. Exposure includes anything and everything that you have ever taken in through your senses. These exposures or inputs began the moment you were born, and continue even today. There are several principles that highlight the power of exposures in your life. The Law of Association states that you will inevitably become more and more like the people with whom you spend most of your time. Over time, you will adopt the attitudes, beliefs, habits and even the mannerisms and body language of the people you hang around with the most. The Law of Environment states that where you are reinforces who you are. This means that your surroundings exert an incredibly strong influence over how you think, speak, and act. Your mind tends to gravitate toward what it is exposed to the most. Information, ideas, and images that are processed by your brain today generate reactions in the future. Typically, the connection between what youve been exposed to in the past and your behavior in the present is lost, or never made. The Law of Excluded Alternative states that when you decide to include certain people in your life, you are simultaneously choosing to exclude others. When you spend time with the wrong relationships, you lose the opportunity to invest time with the right relationships.

Results
First, we will begin with the end. The first step toward achieving the results you want in life is to precisely clarify exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish. In Lesson Four, we will cover Who and in Lesson Five, we will cover What. These are the two key results where you need exceptional clarity. Remember, positive results follow positive mental pictures. Clarity of desire generates a magnetic force that draws to you whatever is necessary to achieve your results.

16

888.663.7372

17

The Law of Attraction states that you draw into your life the people who harmonize with your dominant thoughts, beliefs and world view. The Law of Non-Neutrality states that everything counts when it comes to exposures. Every input either moves you toward your God-given potential or it moves you away.

Get The Picture!

Coachs Notes
In this lesson you will learn:
A. How to upgrade your mental software. B. How to manufacture positive expectations. C. The real meaning of attitude. The next component of The Results Model is called Self-Concept. Your self-concept is the controlling factor in your performance. It is a combination of all the ideas, thoughts, images, and experiences that have happened over the course of your life that have come together to form a composite picture of the person you believe yourself to be. Your self-concept has three parts, which operate at the subconscious level. The first component is called your Self-Ideal. Think of this as your Future Picture. It is your ideal vision of yourself at some point in the future. The second component of your self-concept is your Self-Image. Think of this as your Current Picture. This is how you see yourself, right now and it is based primarily on your interactions with others. In particular, your

1. Other than your family, what are your five greatest blessings? 2. What are three things that you do exceptionally well that currently add or could add tremendous value to others? 3. What have been your top accomplishments over the last 90 days and how could you build on them in the next week?

24

www.successisnotanaccident.com

25

self-image is a product of what others say to you and what you say to yourself. The third component and foundation of your self-concept is called Self-Esteem. You are not born with self-esteem, yet your self-esteem is the core of your personality. It is how much you value and respect yourself. Your self-esteem is just another name for mental fitness. High performance and high self-esteem go hand in hand. Where you find one, you find the other. The next component of The Results Model is Belief. A belief is a collection of subconscious thoughts which represent what you consider to be the absolute truth about any given situation or condition in your life. It is a feeling of absolute certainty. Your beliefs are literally hardwired, primarily through repetition, into neural pathways within your brain. You are not consciously aware of most of your beliefs because you have been living with them for so long. The next component of The Results Model is Expectation. Expectations are your subconscious assumptions about life in general and the specific circumstances that may arise in life. They are your beliefs about what is going to happen in both the near and distant future. What you expect with confidence tends to materialize. In other words, when you expect something enough to actually prepare, in advance, for its occurrence, you are actually attracting that circumstance into your life. Your expectations become your own self-fulfilling prophecy. 26 www.successisnotanaccident.com

Attitude is the next component of The Results Model. Your attitude is your habitual way of thinking. You were not born with an attitude. The attitude you have today is the cumulative result of your exposures throughout your lifetime. In other words, your attitude is a learned response to life. It is your habitual way of looking at the world, and more importantly it triggers the way the world looks at you. A positive attitude does not necessarily mean you are overly cheerful or that you always smile in the face of adversity. It just means that you respond in a resourceful way to stressful situations. Your attitude is always working for you or against you. It is only doing one thing or the other helping or hurting. The next component of The Results Model is Action. Success is a planned outcome, not an accident. Simply stated, if you want to reap more rewards, you must sow more service, contribution, and value. Success in life is not based on need, but on seed. The mark of a fully mature, mentally healthy individual is the acceptance of complete responsibility for ones life. When you accept total responsibility, you recognize that you are the cause of all your choices, decisions, and actions. When you are anchored in the reality of responsibility, you are far more likely to act in ways that will not later become causes of regret, frustration, or embarrassment. Life is a two-for-one deal. With every choice, you get a free consequence.

888.663.7372

27

Actions lead us back to Results, where we got started. Results are what you reap. Your results are the specific effects that have been caused by the other six factors of The Results Model. If you want new, better, and more improved results, you must become new, better and improved.

Here are seven clues that will help you identify your Genius. 1. PassionYour area of Genius will always be characterized by enthusiasm, intense interest, and pure fun. This passion will be difficult to turn off, even when you are away from work. 2. Rapid and Continuous LearningIn your area of Genius, you will notice that learning new information takes little time and comes quite easily. New concepts are easily visualized and quickly integrated into your existing knowledge base. 3. Strong MemoryYour area of Genius is characterized by a vivid, clear, almost perfect memory. Facts, figures, dates, names, conversations, and key points related to your Genius activities are effortlessly recalled when needed. 4. FlowWhen you are operating in your Genius, you will tend to get totally immersed in what you are doing and lose yourself in the moment. You will likely lose track of time. World-class athletes sometimes refer to this as being in the zone, when they are totally absorbed in the present moment and able to shut out everything else. 5. Utilization of IntuitionIn your Genius, youll naturally tap into and be inclined to go with your intuitive hunches, and most importantly, you will be right. Expect to experience a strong instinctual knowing

Part One: Genius
The concept of Genius is closely aligned with two major principles of Peak Personal Performance. (1) The Strength Principle which states that by focusing on your strengths, you ultimately render your weaknesses irrelevant, and (2) The 80/20 Principle, which states that 80 percent of your results come from only 20 percent of your inputs.

that helps you make quick, positive decisions that move you toward your goal. 6. Absence of Burn OutBy operating in your Genius, you will insulate yourself from burn out. Since you will be working with your natural grain, doing what you do best and most love to do, you will get more done in less time and be happier, healthier, and much more balanced. Burnout is the breaking point result of accumulated resistance to non-genius activity. 7. The Wing It FactorWhen you operate in your Genius, you are capable of producing excellence with little or no preparation. Given your string performance, others would be shocked to know how little time you spent getting ready.

Here is a quick assignment that will help you clarify your Genius
The Letter (see sample below). We recommend you send a letter or email to at least seven people who know you well and whom you trust. Once you receive replies, begin to organize the feedback in a single document so you can easily detect patterns and similarities in how others see you. This is part of the puzzle.

Dear _______________, In order to complete an assignment for The 1% Club, would you take a few minutes and think about what you consider to be my unique ability and/or the areas where you believe I have the most passion? My goal in getting this feedback is to gradually invest more time doing both what I love and what creates the best results. Thanks for your help!

Here are Five barriers to Genius

Being aware of these roadblocks will help you notice and then consciously avoid them, both for yourself and for the team you work with. Barrier number one is lack of understanding. The second barrier to Genius is inertia. The third barrier is bureaucracy. The fourth barrier is Do-It-Myself-itis. The fifth barrier is employing just an average or decent support staff. 36 www.successisnotanaccident.com

Part Two: Developing your Personal Mission Statement

A personal mission statement is a written articulation of exactly what type of person you ultimately want to become. It expresses your unique purpose for living. Your personal mission statement encourages you to change in a deliberate, preconceived direction. The process of constructing a personal mission statement forces you to seriously think through the vital areas of your life. Creating a personal mission statement requires reflection, introspection, and a considerable quantity of mental effort. Once you have completed your personal mission statement, you will have a clear picture of the person you hope to become. A strong mission statement clarifies what is allowable in your life. It helps you say yes to the right things and no way to the wrong things. A written mission statement is the bridge from intention to action. It expresses who you want to become and, more importantly, what you are willing to do differently to become that person. Having a written personal mission statement is an outward sign that you have accepted complete responsibility for your life and your future. The exercise to follow will help you develop the first draft of your personal mission statement.

Step 2: The Three Areas (5 minutes each)

Building on the brainstorm exercise you just did, now develop goals in these three areas: 1. Growth Goals (spiritual, health and fitness, parenting, relationship, learning) 2. Financial Goals (income, savings, net worth, tithe, give away) 3. Just-for-Fun Goals (adventures, travel, toys, personal comfort)

Highly Effective Goals

1. ______________ 2. Present tense 3. Stated positively 4. Consistent with personal mission statement 5. Specific and ______________ 6. Time bound 7. Reasonable and challenging 8. Thoroughly ______________

Step 3: Time-Lining (90 seconds per category)

Now go back over your list of goals and put a timeline on them. Write a 1 next to the goal if you want to accomplish it in one year or less, a 3 if three or less years, 6 if six or less, 9 if nine or less and 30 if thirty or less.

DAY 5 CD #6

The Power of Goals Workshop

Welcome to your Goals Workshop! The following six-step instructions summarize the process facilitated on CD six. We encourage you to arrange for an hour of uninterrupted time to listen to your Goal Workshop and complete the corresponding worksheets in this lesson.

Step 4: Top Five Goals (3 minutes)

Pick your top five most impactful goals that you want to accomplish in one year or less. We recommend picking three goals from the Growth area, one Financial goal and then one Just-for-Fun goal.

Step One: Brainstorm Your Dreams (9 minutes)

If you knew you could not fail what would you attempt to achieve? Open up your mind and let it go free. Think about anything and everything you want to be, everything you want to do, and everything you want to have.

Step 5: Compelling Reasons (2 minutes per goal)

For each of the five goals you just selected, write five compelling reasons under each one describing Why you must complete this goal. If your Why isnt big enough, your What wont matter.

53

Step 6: Get Your MBA (1 minute per goal)

Never leave the scene of a goal without an MBA. For each goal you have, write one MBA. The reason most people never reach their goals is that they dont define them, learn about them, or seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.

The Mental Edge

Thought of the Day

______________________________

Quote of the Day

Whatever you direct your mind to think about will ultimately be revealed for all to see.
TOMMY NEWBERRY

Coachs Notes
Mental discipline is the ability to keep your thoughts focused on goal-directed activity to the exclusion of all else. With mental discipline, you reach your goals faster, experience more joy, and become a lot more fun to be around. Virtually any meaningful goal is within reach when you become mentally disciplined. Without mental discipline, even relatively easy goals become a strain. With weak mental muscles, your emotional life is random and unpredictable. Mental laziness slowly dissolves your potential for greatnessfirst privately, and then publicly. By deliberately working to improve your mental game, you will upgrade every area of your life. You will hit your business goals faster. Your family life will be more peaceful. With strong, toned mental muscles, you will be more fit spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Are you ready for The Mental Edge?

In this lesson you will learn:

A. The Mental Edge Formula. B. The Hold That Thought technique. C. How to discipline your mind.

The MindScripting Five

Dwelling on the Positive
1. What five things make your life awesome right now? 2. What are a couple of small victories youve experienced from the last week? 3. Who are five people outside your immediate family that love you or you love, and how does that make you feel? 4. What things are you most excited about and looking forward to in the next 30 days?

Understanding The Mental Edge

The Mental Edge Formula: NT + ASK X MD = PPP Your natural talent plus your acquired skills and knowledge times mental discipline equals your personal performance potential. You are not born with mental discipline. Mental discipline is a skill that can and must be learned and then mastered. There are four components to mental discipline, all of which can be intentionally cultivated.

Confidence
Confidence is your belief in your capability to reach a particular goal or bundle of goals. While genuine confidence is rooted in actual accomplishment, past performance alone does not ensure confidence will be developed or maintained. Sustainable self-confidence grows from exhaustive preparation, winning moments, positive memories, and a focus on incremental progress instead of perfection.

Challenge
By challenge, we mean the degree of demand that you willingly place upon yourself. Your mental discipline will rise to meet the level of goal that you set for yourself. Small goals will extract only surface potential. Huge goals release untapped reserves and trigger surprising breakthroughs. Ironically, your best self is revealed when the stakes are high, when the deadline is looming, and when the game is on the line.

Clarity
The first is clarity about what is to be accomplished, both in the immediate moment as well as long term. Without a precise target to shoot for, your thought life will bounce back and forth between competing objectives and non-objectives.

Concentration
The next component is concentration, referring to how well you stay engaged in the current moment and fixed on Whats Important Now (WIN) or the how in the now. Anything less than 100% concentration reveals divided attention and double-mindedness. Remember, distractions are simply misplaced attractions that downgrade your potential.

Developing The Mental Edge Five Strategies

1. MindScripting In MindScripting, you are prompted to answer specific questions. The questions are intended to steer your awareness toward something positive and productive. Your thinking can only be as good as the questions you repeatedly ask yourself.

66

www.successisnotanaccident.com

888.663.7372

67

2. Positive Self TalkPositive self-talk is a thought you intentionally choose to think because of the results it will produce in your life. It is a positive, assertive, present tense description of a goal or other desired condition. 3. Positive Mental ________________Everything that you read, watch, and listen to that positively impacts your character and personality. What is NOT Positive Mental Nutrition? Most news Most but not all TV programs Most but not all magazines Most radio programming Conversation with whining/complaining people Gossiping Aint it awful conversations Commiserating Stress-spreading conversations 4. Rewrite Your GoalsRewriting your goals helps align your subconscious beliefs with your conscious goals. Writing your goals is effective anytime, but especially first thing in the morning and right before you go to sleep. 5. Hold That ________________Take 47 minutes and on your laptop or a legal pad write out what you want to happen in any given situation (1020 brief sentences or phrases). Practice this exercise before important situations or events whether business or personal. As you hold the thought of what you desire, you activate the Law of 68 www.successisnotanaccident.com

Seven Practical Insights

Here are seven key ideas or insights that will help you talk yourself into even more success and get the most out of this lesson. 1. Always use the word when rather than if in situations where you are talking about something you want to happen. Say, when I close that sale, or, when I lose that weight, Im going to take a day off. 2. Take control of your explanatory style, that is, the way you interpret past events to yourself. Put a positive twist on things or spin it to your benefit, as they say in politics, by looking back and reinterpreting any seemingly negative situation and mentally downplaying or minimizing its significance. This reduces the effect the past has on your future. 3. Watch out for media programming, the constant suggestive influence from radio, television, newspaper, magazines, and billboards. Its estimated that the average American is exposed to more than 1,500

advertising messages each day. If you think like the masses think, youll get what the masses get. 4. Never let anyone say anything to you or about you in your presence that you dont sincerely want to happen. Be alert whenever someone starts a sentence with the word you in daily conversations. Your interactions with others play a major role in what you believe to be true about yourself. Sometimes its minor. Sometimes its major. But everything counts! Be especially mindful of old friends who continue to speak of you as the person you were in the past, but no longer want to be. 5. In dealing with other people, particularly those you live or work with, never refer to someone or characterize someone in their presence as something you dont want them to be or youll just be reinforcing their tendency to be that way. If you want somebody to be on time more often, then the very worst thing you can do is to shout at them or look them in the eye and say, Youre always late! Avoid this temptation or youll keep getting more of the same! 6. Refuse to claim things or stake your possession to anything that you dont want in your lifestyle such as my cold, my headache, my bad back, my debt, or my price range. Instead, attach yourself mentally and verbally to what you do want such as peace of mind, happiness, prosperity, and perfect health. 7. Leave the past in the past. If it becomes necessary to discuss a habit, tendency, or quality that youd rather not have, always talk about it as if its long gone, as if 888.663.7372 71

70

www.successisnotanaccident.com

its history rather than a current, ongoing problem. Use the phrases up until now, in the past, or I used to be to frame any constructive self-criticism. Be careful not to pull the past into the future by making generalizations about prior behavior.

Questions for 1% Reflection

1. What captures your attention immediately before falling asleep at night and upon awakening in the morning? 2. What do you tend to think about most when you are not thinking about your goals? 3. How could you better use your drive time to grow, learn, and stay inspired? 4. What are some of the things you have done previously to discipline your mind? 5. Why are world-class athletes and entertainers the primary practitioners of mental training techniques?

A Higher Standard
Anyone can occasionally experience peak performance. We can all have a great day now and then. But that is not enough. Your standard is much higher. Like a world-class athlete, when you achieve the mental edge, you will find yourself replicating your best performance at will. When you do, you will have what it takes to become a world-class human being.

Strategy One: Mentors and Models

A mentor is someone with significant experience and/or unique talents who is willing to personally share their wisdom with you on a consistent basis. A model is someone you respect or admire and is almost identical to a mentor except there is not necessarily a personal relationship. Relevant models are to be emulated. You are influenced by your model when you take the initiative to study, research, and then imitate the habits and success qualities of your model of excellence.

3. Develop Your Plan ASK: I would really value a little bit of your time each month to mentor me. This would just mean a 1015 minute phone call each month where I could ask you a few questions. By tapping into the backgrounds, experience, expertise, and collective mind power of the other members of your group, you gain a new and fresh perspective on your goals and how to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of their accomplishment. 3: Being in a MasterMind alliance will build enthusiasm and energy for goal accomplishment. And it is the person with the most enthusiasm and energy that continues to pay the price of high achievement, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. 4: Participating in a MasterMind network provides additional accountability. It increases the odds that you will keep doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, even if you dont feel like it. 5: Being in a MasterMind group builds your confidence and as a result causes you to establish bigger goals, take more action, and attract more huge thinkers to help you accomplish your goals. 6: Participating in a MasterMind Network affirms your commitment to a 1% life. Goal Acceleration The major benefit of being part of a MasterMind network is simple: It accelerates your goal accomplishment. You get from point A to point Z faster than you would on your own. All the other benefits are just a subset of this. Collectively, they all contribute to this goal acceleration dynamic. Here are the other reasons why MasterMinding accelerates your goal accomplishment. 1: Being in a MasterMind group reinforces your commitment to accomplish your goals. By discussing your

You will develop strong, deep, and authentic relationships with individuals committed to maximizing their potential and becoming real difference-makers. You will absorb the positive qualities of your group and give of yourself in the process. Guidelines For Effective MasterMind Groups A. Selection is Critical! Only invite to join your MasterMind group those individuals who have the following qualities: People who: are extremely growth driven are goal-directed are huge-thinkers are ultra-positive have your respect have your trust have proven track record understand and appreciate the power of the MasterMind B. Frequency. How often should you get together with your MasterMind group? We recommend at least once a month and as often as weekly.

C. Duration. How long will each of your meetings last? We recommend at least two to three hours depending on the number of participants. D. Format. What kind of MasterMind format will work best given your goals and the goals of the group? We recommend pre-planning an agenda so everyone knows what to expect when they arrive. Alternate between a freestyle session where the conversation is allowed to drift to different subjects depending on the mood and interests of the whole group and a structured session in which each participant brings a specific issue to be brainstormed. E. Who Facilitates. Would you like to have your group/session facilitated by a coach? We recommend one member in your group to act as the moderator and keep the group on track and the meeting on time. This responsibility can be rotated from meeting to meeting. Additional Suggestions: Your MasterMind experience should be ultra-positive. This includes the people you invite as well as the atmosphere of where you meet and, of course, the discussion itself. Write down a set of goals, ground rules, and expectations for the group and review them at the beginning of each session.

Share victories since the last meeting with each other before the session gets moving. This injects positivity into your group and builds momentum. Affirm each other continually throughout the MasterMinding session by verbalizing something to the effect of, I can see you completing the Ironman in a time of 14 hours or I can see you taking your company public. Whatever the stated goal is, work the I can see statements into the groups conversation. Gradually, it will just become part of the unique MasterMind experience. Whenever you hear someone else affirming your success, it is a powerful confidence builder. Have a set meeting time to avoid the confusion that comes from having to continually synchronize multiple schedules. Attendance must be mandatory or the group will be short-lived. For added punch, make sure that everyone has exercised aerobically just prior to your session and have classical music playing in the background. These two ideas are proven to positively impact your brain chemistry and get the creative juices flowing.

always make the right choices. Accountability helps you to do what you know you should do when you should do it whether or not you feel like it. One of the greatest reasons people veer off track in life is that they dont have to answer to anyone. This is not the 1% approach! There are four qualities of a productive accountability partner. 1. _________________You can rely on this person to be there for your appointment. 2. _________________This person is transparent and is willing to be wounded. 3. _________________This person is open to new ways of doing things and doesnt waste energy defending his flaws. 4. _________________You can count on this person to point out your blind spots and be truthful about his own.

Strategy Four: Advisors and Coaches:

I know what I know, but more importantly, I know what I dont know, and much of my success in life is because of the people I surround myself with.

Strategy Three: Accountability Partners

Accountability literally means to stand up and be counted. Accountability is protection against our natural human tendency toward self deception. Authentic accountability provides a great source of information on how we can improve our lives. None of us has the strength or insight to 84 www.successisnotanaccident.com

The overarching qualification for paid advisors and coaches is that they want to see you succeed. Next, they must possess knowledge and wisdom superior to your own and have a track record of accomplishment within their area of expertise. And of course, you must trust them completely. 888.663.7372 85

CD #12

The Weekly Coach

This audio coach challenges you each week to think like the Top 1%. Since it is not what you know, say, hope, or intendbut only what you do that counts, we challenge you to do more of the right things from week to week. The right things are the actions that clearly move you in the direction of your God-given potential. This focus on perpetual and never-ending progress is the essence of the entire program. Think about it. Lots of people have good intentions, but never get world-class results or the rewards that go along with them. In most cases, this underachievement is due to a lack of focus on what truly matters. And this lack of focus can be traced back to a lack of accountability. Most people get caught in the urgency trap and unconsciously follow a very reactive approach to living their lives. Over time, this way of thinking and acting becomes an entrenched habit, slowly eroding would-be success throughout the different areas of life. By listening to this pioneering CD just once each week, you will quickly develop the mindset of a peak performer. Youll be asked questions that remind you of your dreams and goals. You will also be asked the tough questions that challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and push you to go the extra mile. Youll be prompted to examine each area of your life and follow through on commitments 124 www.successisnotanaccident.com

even when you do not feel like it. The cumulative, positive effect of briefly evaluating yourself and your life every week will rapidly and noticeably accelerate your growth in all areas of life. You will make the shift from random and reactive to deliberate and intentional. You will never go back to the old approach again. Unlike other self-development programs that simply educate or inspire, our goal is to equip you with the tools to take consistent, constructive action. Its that simple.
