Dear SDA friends around the world,
Read the boxes in this letter, then come back here and we’ll talk about what’s
happening.
Faith: On page 4 of this letter we see the headline of a Michigan newspaper article
that reads, “Federal probe rocks Seventh-day Adventist Church.” Are you going to talk
about that now?
Pastor Jan: No.
Hope: Why not? What will you talk about?
Pastor Jan: Andre the Giant. When he died, he was 7 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighed 530 pounds. He was born Andre
Rene Roussimoff in Grenoble, France on May 19, 1946. His parents, Boris and Marian, and four siblings were of average
size. Andre, however, suffered from acromegaly, a disease that results in an over abundance of growth hormones. This
disease caused Andre’s body to continue growing his whole life,
and by the time he was 17, he stood 6 feet, 7 inches. He was
soon over seven feet tall, and got into wrestling. As far as I
know, he never claimed to be a Christian. Some of his favorite
things to do were to eat and play cards with his friends. A friend
related that one time in a restaurant he ate 16 steaks, 12 lobsters,
drank a case of beer, and finished off with a bottle of Jack
Daniels. When interviewed on T.V. about this, another friend
said, “I’m here to tell you, it’s all true. His hands were so huge
that when he was drinking with a can in his hand, you didn’t
know what he was drinking because you couldn’t see it.
Interviewer: For Andre, everyday life required a giant’s
portion of patience. He couldn’t fit into a car or a seat in an
auditorium. Even a first class seat in a plane was too small for
him. Whenever he rode in a commercial plane, he had to sit on the floor. He struggled
daily with discomfort and indignities.
Friend: He couldn’t hide from anybody. Wherever he went he was public. People
would swamp him and ask questions. When he got into a hotel room, the bed was too
small. The shower came up to his waist. His fingers were too large to dial a phone. I
mean, the guy went through - and he never complained. People would chase him up the
elevator, and find out what room he was in, and call him all night. He never complained.
Exhibit #1 We had to check out of hotels sometimes because of this. It was incredible to me the
patience that he had. The crowds all wanted to be around him, to be seen with him.
Interviewer: By the end of the ‘70s, Andre weighed well over 400 pounds, and still his body continued to grow.
Friend: The doctor told Andre, “You’re not going to be a senior citizen. You have so many days on earth, so use them to
the fullest.”
Interviewer: Just as Andre’s popularity was peaking, his body began to turn on him. Andre
broke his ankle while getting out of bed. His recuperation was long and painful, and there were no
crutches long enough or strong enough to
support a giant. By 1983, the disease he
had ignored for years, began to take hold.
Friend: His weight increased to the
point that his joints were not able to
handle the stress of his body weight.
There were days when I left him in tears.
His back, his knees - and everything was
hurting. I said to him, “Boss, is there
anything I can do?” He would just pat
me on the shoulder and say, “Don’t
worry about it Tim.” Exhibit #2

He said to me, “I wish I was your size.” And I said to him, “I wish I was your size.” He said,
“Man, I wish I was small - just a regular size man.”
It had to be hard on him. You know - I watched him try to pick up a little fork with that big
hand - with just a little bit of it sticking out. I mean it’s hard when you’re so big.”
Pastor Jan: Anyone who can draw a crowd will be taken advantage of by well-trained
vultures of the world, and this type of people saw in Andre a great source for enriching
themselves. So they sent him around the world as a wrestler, promoted him, and made him
famous. Most people don’t know that the sports industry in general is secretly dedicated to the
worship of Lucifer. We learned from a poor girl who was tricked into joining the church of Satan
[and finally got out of it by the power and love of our Lord Jesus] that competition is the
foundation of Satan’s kingdom. Those who “beat” others, go “higher” in society. But those who
are into it are unwitting slaves to a supernatural
power that holds them. Satan’s rules of
competition are being nicely taught to children,
youth, and adults, on T.V., movies, the internet,
public and church schools, and church activities.
Charity: Will the “latter rain” fall upon God’s
people while this continues? When will all Exhibit #3
academies, colleges, universities, and churches
around the world cease having competition in games and activities? Will it
happen before 9T 228 is fulfilled?
Pastor Jan: No. It won’t.
Faith: That’s a shocking thought. Why not?
Pastor Jan: Before Jesus entered the temple and cleansed it, many godly
people were waiting for it to happen somehow. But before divine power did
it, it didn’t happen, and couldn’t happen - though we must do our part to help
the people, and some of them will repent. Year after year God’s people had
been hoping that some godly ministers or “some good angel” would lift the
worshipers and their worship to be in harmony with heaven. It didn’t happen
until “divine power” was used. It will be the same in our day - as predicted in
9T 228. Good news! When it happened before, notice what was in Christ’s
hand. Notice who ran out and who stayed in. The good news is that our
Saviour will see to it that it gets done again soon. 9T 228 reveals that as it
was when He was here, so it will be when He does it again. It will take
“divine power” - and dear Jesus will supply it. Praise God. Read about it in
the chapters in Desire of Ages entitled “In His Temple,” and “The Temple
Cleansed Again.”
Hope: There was a whip in His hand. According to 9T 228, what will that
be? Will it be the soon-coming Sunday law? And when He came “to His temple,” who ran out?
Faith: Almost everyone.
Pastor Jan: But in our day there is also another factor. I read that there are now over 25 million church members. I
praise our kind Father that He reveals that so many godly people [now in Sunday-keeping Babylon] will take the places of the
millions who will soon run out when the devil’s Sunday law
comes, that our “ranks will not be diminished.” Listen -
“We are now living in the last days, when the truth must be
spoken, when in reproof and warning it must be given to the
world, irrespective of consequences. . . When the greatest Teacher
the world has ever known spoke the truth, many of His disciples
became offended and walked no more with Him.
“But truth will bear away the victory. Those who will maintain
the truth, irrespective of consequences, will offend some whose
hearts are not in harmony with the truth as it is in Jesus. The truth
does not harmonize with their sentiments, and rather than give up
their own ideas, they walk away from those who obey the truth.
“The Lord will work so that the disaffected ones will be
separated from the true and loyal ones. Those who, like Cornelius,
will fear God and glorify Him, will take their places. The ranks
will not be diminished. [Do you comprehend that? It will happen
“when the majority forsake us.” 5T 136. That means that over 12
million will leave, and over 12 million will join us after they leave Exhibit #4
because of persecution - when humble and faithful SDAs will be
made to look like the worst cultists the world has ever seen - to be chased by “infuriated mobs.” EW 56] Those who are firm
and true will close up the vacancies that are made by those who become offended and apostatize.” 13MR pp. 10,11.
Our Lord reveals so much of what is coming - to purify His people - that when it
happens, you’ll understand what’s happening and why, and you’ll not be discouraged
when you see articles in newspapers like the one which says, “Federal Probe Rocks
Seventh-day Adventist Church.” Watch closely -
“The majority will forsake us.” “The shaking of God blows away multitudes like dry
leaves.” 4T 89. “Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places
where we see only floors of rich wheat.” 5T 81.
“Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the great proportion of those
who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal.” LDE 180. “The

which the government will take over after the Sunday law is passed] may appear as about

chaff separated from the precious wheat. This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must

Meanwhile, it’s our job to get God’s mighty three angels’ messages to the world as
fast as we can - because Satan has certain giants coming to try to stop us. I praise God
that His dear people won’t be stopped!
Hope: What giants?
Exhibit #5 Pastor Jan: In 1972, the promotion vultures changed Andre’s name to capitalize

on his enormity. Andre performed under his new name at Madison Square
Garden, where he easily defeated everyone. As Andre’s fame grew to stardom,
he was featured in Sports Illustrated in the largest feature they’d ever published.
Andre’s fame also opened the door to another branch of Lucifer’s domain -
Hollywood. He made his acting debut in 1975, and played in many movies and
T.V. shows.
In 1987, the promotion vultures billed the big event as the 500 pound “Andre
the Giant.” It set the all-time attendance record for an indoor event which
still stands today. It drew a record 92,000 fans [short for the word "fanatic" -
the worshiper of a god] who packed the Pontiac Silver Dome in Detroit,
Michigan to unwittingly worship Lucifer as they yelled and screamed.
That year, Andre passed his 41st birthday - knowing that he was living on
borrowed time. Finally, the effects of acromegaly continued to wear down his
body until his immense size was just too much for his heart – and Andre the
giant died in Paris, France in his hotel room on January 27, 1993. That night
seemed like many other nights in the hotel room for him - drinking beer,
laughing, and playing cards with his friends. Andre didn’t know that it was his
“last night on earth.” He went to sleep that night, and never woke up. “For in Captain Martin Bates, and wife Anna,
such an hour as ye think not, the son of man cometh.” Matt. 24:44. the world's tallest married couple,
Andre the giant was only 7 feet, 5 inches tall. When I was a boy, my mother posed for this picture with friend Lei
told me that Adam was about 15 or 16 feet tall. I don’t know where she got that McFarland in about 1878. The man
figure, but I’ve remembered it. In I Samuel 17:4, we see that Goliath was about 9 and woman are just slightly under 8
feet tall. In Giants magazine, we learn that in the late 1950's, during a road feet tall. (Courtesy Medina County

in 1456 beside a river in Valence, France, and that in 1613, a 25
foot, 6 inch human skeleton was found
near the castle of Chaumont in France.
