OK) and the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock. Service to others in our community is our life's greatest vocation. I have found service to others to be the most exciting, educational and rewarding work that I have ever done. In 1985 I moved to El Paso, Texas and began working with the homeless and the needy as a member of (and a licensed minister with) the Church of God in Christ. I moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1988 and was an active member of the Pentecostal Church of God from that time until 1992. While with that church I started an "Service to others inner-city , munity

Why 1 want to be your

U.S.Representative ...

AIl too often, our elected leaders can fall short of our hopes. It sometimes seems as though they don't know the way in which we as a people should be going. I'm excited about the many opportunities for positive change that we have yet to fully explore. I'm optimistic that we can all work together to build a b.etter America. Our nation, and our world, is so fastpaced, so overloaded" so violent, that it can truly stagger the thoughtful mind. We need real solutions for our all-too-real problems. I believe. that becoming your elected representative to the U.S.Congress is the best way 'that I can currently serve my community. As your congressman I will be able to devote my time, talents and energies to finding real solutions to the many complex problems we face today in American society.

My name is Alex MacDonald, I was born in Washington D.C. in 1959 and raised in a 'traditional, Catholic, suburban Maryland family. Growing up, as I did" in the Washington area - at a time when our nation was experiencing momentous change - has forever shaped the way in which I view our nation, it's sociopolitical landscape, and my responsibilities as a citizen. I ask myself: "What can I do for my country?" I received a public school education from 1965-1976 and I received my high school diploma in 1977 while serving in the U.S. Army, I received an honorable discharge after three years of active (and three years inactive reserve) duty service. Since 1980 I have been a blue collar worker, since 1985 I have been a professional truck driver. I've recently (1999) taken advantage of continuing educational opportunities available to me through St. Gregory's University (Shawnee,

LIttle Rock which I ran for two years. I later worked with members of the Church of God in Christ helping to begin a new mission church in southwest Little Rock. From 1993 to 1997 I was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. I was elected and ordained a ruling elder of the church in 1997. In 199'8 I returned to the Catholic Church and since that time I have been furthering my education and working with members of our church beginning a new educational ministry to our developmentally disabled young people.

Today in America the very life, liberty and dignity of the human person is under assault as never before in our nation's history. Human life is cheap. It is my sincere hope that you are as concerned as I am for our common good. I stand for that great truth we all hold to be self-evident: that every person has the right to life, liberty and equal protection under the law.
