About the Author Michael Jeffrey has been many things, and had humble work beginnings, until finding his true passion, late in life. He started off working on a garbage collecting crew, something now called in a PC manner Sanitation Engineer. Later, he worked various summer jobs doing maintenance and janitorial work, whilst an undergrad student. After getting his undergrad degree much later than expected, due to being a lousy student whom suffered from a complete lack of vision as to what to do with the rest of his life, he was not accepted into Grad school immediately following his attainment of his BS degree. So, he had to work, and became interested in field work, most notably a long experience working as an engineer, a surveyors helper (lousy one at that), a geologist, and environmental consultant. Yet, he never really found his calling, until he went back to school for a grad degree and became a teacher. That has been his passion since his mid 30s, and continues to fuel his desire to educate the world, with his preference being working with K-12 kids, geosciences courses, or teachers prep courses. He has an avid hobby in photography, and has taught for free with outreach programs in 3 states at the K-12 level. His most important goal today, is to find his Mrs. S, those whom can meet his needs to be a first time wife, and start a family with her the kind he has sought since he was in college his second year, from the time he turned 18 on. A goal that has been close, but elusively unmet, especially once he turned 40, which has only proved the search for the fertility and college aged women he has sought completely affirmed as his only goal left in life. The author believes in a FREE Economic system, unfettered by the limitations the artificial concept of money forces humanity to deal with. Getting rid of money will free the human soul to pursue their dreams, and work in jobs they have the passion for, no more will people work just for a paycheck, often at the detriment of the services provided. As such,

Wear Not Masks:

This man feared not to show his face. What he stood for he was proud enough of to stand up and not just show whom he was and what he believed in, but he was man enough to do so, even when being threatened with grave and mortal violence. Some men are brave, and on the right side of morality and the issues. Be brave enough and in the right enough to not be afraid of speaking your voice on the issues, to be heard, and seen No great leader ever was afraid to show whom they are - no great leader ever hid behind masks while making a point in a peaceful non violent manner. It is only those whom do wrong, and know it, whom hide behind masks.

Diversity of Color:

This is a spectrum of visible light. We call it a rainbow, one that exhibits all the possible shades in between each color. The delineation from one color to the other is seamless, and in fact, meaningless to me. To me, this image, represents humanity. We may have different colors, different genders, different ideologies, different ages, different perspectives on many things, and yet, when you look at the overall picture, humanity together, in its entirety, is but one solid, visible light. Each one of us can be the light that shines to the world, through our love for one another, and the recognition that all humanity is but a refraction of and a reflection of each other, that in the end, there is little that separates us from each other. Those whom understand quantum mechanics, human psychology, and the biology of genetics know, deep down, all that is different in each of us, is the recipe we are built from, the very same 4 letters each of us all have - CAGT. The molecules within us are the same for all of us, and we all bleed the same blood (within the variability of the blood types A, B, AB, O,). When one sees the human species as I do, that each one of us is but a spreading out of the glorious colors of the greater whole, one wonders why we cannot focus more so on what we all have in common, rather than the very little that separates us. Whether one is on the blue side or the red side of the spectrum matters not, for it takes both the red and the blue to make the light we see overall. We all need each other, to be the complete whole. So lets stop killing ourselves, when there is but one solitary planet we know of where all 7 billion of us call home. Imagine how dull the rainbow would be, if all we knew, were people in our own little part of the spectrum of the greater whole

The Bells Crack If I were asked, what 1 symbol best summarizes up America to me, from a historical philosophical slant, aside from the pride of being an American, born free, like all humanity should be, the image of the Liberty Bell comes to mind. The Liberty Bell, rang forth on our independence declarations, and shortly afterwards, cracked. It has remained cracked ever since. To me, the bell symbolizes the promise inherent to all of us in our bill of rights and our constitution. It is a bold experiment, this freedom and democracy we have. And yet, over 200 years ago, when this nation was

founded, it was a foundation and an idea that was born with a broken shell, a cracked bell, if you will. For the Union was born, with two opposite views, towards the morality of slavery. When America was born, even though "We hold these certain inalienable rights to be self evident, that all men are created equal," what it did not say, was the little asterisks at the end of the line - you know, how a "man" was defined back in those days, one whom owned property, or were "free". And this was a nation that less than 100 years after its birth, went to war, divided about the issue of owning other people, and using them as indentured servants - slavery. The crack in the bell, began to slowly heal, but still there, very long. It took another 50 years after the union was restored to offer women's suffrage - the right to vote to women - those whom interpret words saw the word "men" created equal, did not see the words "women" and so did not give them rights do all humanity. It was not until around the first world war that women here were constitutionally granted the right to vote..... but they did, and the crack, in my mind, healed some more, yet it is still there. It took yet another 2 to 3 generations for the next phase in the development of America to take place. As if the concept of "separate but equal", equal in name only, had any constitutional basis in reality whatsoever. People being people actually thought just if you had color, you could not sit next to them, or use the same toilet to defecate and urinate in, or to go to school together. It took the works of a non violent movement, led by many, including a young Baptist minister, to take it to the streets, to bring to the mass American mind, the injustice of inequality, the unconstitutionality, and the affront such conceptions were to the American ideals. Yet, in the 60s, the civil rights movement made much progress, and in my mind, the crack in the liberty bell healed even more. Today, I still see a crack in that bell. Each time I hear of some bigotry about folks coming across a border, whom might look different, or talk differently than those whom themselves were not there decades ago. Each time I hear of intolerance towards those with views other than their

own, or wear clothes that look different, or kiss someone other than we think they should, or refuse to support a war that has killed thousands of civilians, I see the crack widening. I hear it in our politics, I hear it on our TV or news, and I hear it in our streets as the cackle of gun violence erupts, while we simply roll over and go back to sleep. I even read it in my student's journals, the anger, the lack of understanding, the lack of tolerance, some, not all, but some have, for anyone whom was not here when they were born. With each depressing thing I hear on the news, see on TV, read on a blog, my eyes well up, and I think of the liberty bell, and I cry. I see the crack in the bell, and Amy Pond and the Doctor are not here to heal it. Only we can do so, ourselves, each one of us. Be educated about the world and those around us. Live to improve this great nation, and not tear it down. Our political, social, economic problems may bring us down, yet, we need to rise above these issues, and look elsewhere, where people have yet to shake off the chains of oppressive regimes, whose legitimacy in government ended the moment they kept all rights to themselves. America is a nation in progress. Ever since our birth, we had great ideas and aspirations, yet the reality was far from what we held as dear. Yet over the past 200+ years, we have healed many wounds that hurt us, sealed those cracks, and the work continues to do so, each day, with each of us, in our hearts, to live up to the dream of America - freedom, and equality, for all. Let us not crack the bell any further, but let us work to recast it anew whole.

Hate is in the Air There is a new form of hate today. Its blatant, its overt, its intolerant of others, and its willing to kill others in some delusional self gratifying manner. We see it in Norway, where a skinhead neo Nazi like man, a self described "Christian and free mason", whom resembles nothing that Christ Jesus teaches us. Those whom have hate towards others, whom are bigots, whom have intolerance towards diversity, whom believe theirs is the only "true" way, are deluding themselves with their supposed superiority and self actualization justifying their false beliefs. God did not create the religions and the races to make people become intolerant, to fight each other over ideas and ethnicities that have nothing to do with a persons choice other than whose parents they accidently had, been from, beneficiaries of some birth in a free land, where they sow hatred and fear among others. To me, folks with so much hate they go out and murder others, are inhumane, and yet, throughout all of history, there have been such people, like Hitler and his gang, whom blamed others, and duped and bullied and manipulated millions into going along with his beliefs. No true believer or follower of Christ, should support the killing of others, for the message of Jesus is quite clear - live in peace, my peace I give you

Mohammed also teaches peace, such that one is to treat all others as if they were guests, and the strangers amongst you whom you treat the best. To me, as a Catholic Christian, the best thing all Christians like me can do, those whom believe in the battles Dr. King fought against (racism, hatred, war, and intolerance, poverty), it to reach out in peace, and love, and empathy, towards our Muslim brothers, whom include the very teachings of Christ in their own version of the bible, the Quran. If anything, this should be an opportunity for all faiths, including our Jewish brethren, to come to the table God purposely laid out for us, challenging each of us, not to hate, but to love one another. To me, that is the very best way to combat people like this, to act with love towards the very people with hate, hates.

Imagine how Nazi Germany under Hitler would have collapsed inwards, in revulsion of the people, had they stood up to the ideals of racism and hate, embodied in the events of Crystal Nacht, and instead of burning the Torah and other Jewish or subversive books, the German people instead reached out with love. The holocaust would not have happened at all, if people reached out in love, and protected all Jewish citizens from persecution, much like Anne Frank was protected for a while, before being murdered. People make choices every day to cave in to the insanity of hatred of others, or, instead, to reach out in love, and understanding. It takes both sides to wage war, to meet in battle each one makes the choice to kill others or die protecting others but in reality, it is a choice no one needs to make, if we all just lived with a policy of love and forgiveness, rather than so much hatred. There can be an end to war forever, but only when the human heart and mind come together and decide to love.

Put the Civil in Civilization: One wonders how we can call ourselves a "civilization" with the root word being "civil" when there are people burning cars and buildings blowing themselves up or dropping bombs from planes in the name of war enacting hurtful intolerant and racist legislation An economy system that by design creates have or have-nots when low core criminals are imprisoned rather than rehabilitated when using drugs or prostitution is a crime when millions around the world go hungry while elsewhere people like me are obese and have health issues related to over-eating where 30,000 college students are less important than the 75 million dollars that paid for their food where nations invade nations and make war where people think killing is a solution to any problem where intellect and empathy would work. To me There is a lot more "uncivil" about "civilization" than the name would suggest...

(Image from the Recent protests in Greece over Austerity cuts) This is how NOT to protest in the honor and manner explicitly in line with the Gandhian and Dr. king Jr., method of non violent, peaceful protest, and change. If anything, when you set police officers on fire, you are doing two things, both of which hurt your ability and moral authority to force peaceful change or even to have your views heard. First, when you throw Molotov cocktails at the police, you pander to the lowest common denominator, that of violence, anger, and hate. To demonstrate these traits, shows you to be doing the old skool thought, that of using force to obtain what your intellect and peaceful civil disobedience failed to do. fire, damaging property, and hurting others, you completely lose all credibility as a peaceful protest, and then it becomes something else. Second, when you are no longer peaceful and non violent, you lose moral authority, and you severely damage your cause, as you no longer look like the victim, and instead you look more like an instigator, a troublemaker, or worse, a bunch of criminals. Only through peaceful, non violent, restrained civil disobedience, will you gain sympathy. Even if you are attacked, beaten with clubs, do not fight back, but sit down, and let those in charge be the violent ones, let them show how bad they are, compared to your pacifism, and your moral authority around the world will increase. Word up, lesson is, the moment you are no longer a non violent peaceful protest, you have already lost your chance at winning the hearts and minds of those in government, those in law enforcement, and those in media and around the world, whom could help you, if you simply exercised self control and sat down and joined hands, rather than fight back.

America a Poem In Honor of July 4, 2011

This nation, under God, non secular in birth, promotes openness and tolerance, in religious ideas, and so on in theory. Yet even today, that is under attack, with anger and hate towards those different than us, those of different faiths, different ethnicities or national origin, different languages, different viewpoints on political and social concerns. There is much hope, still, in a nation, where we dare to allow differences to be spoken, where we air our dirty laundry, and we grow from accepting the melting pot we were meant to be. The lady in the harbor, arm on the bible, and hand on a torch, welcomes many new people, with the dreams we all have, to live free, to live with human rights, and to live some version of the dream. If anything, America becomes stronger as a nation, from our diversity, not weaker. Embrace the global diversity and those whom seek a better life here, and open our arms and our borders in love, to all peaceful loving peoples whom only want their chance at

freedom, and the dream. Why exclude any peaceful person, from the greatest social experiment in modern times? We have come a long way, as a nation and as a people. While the dream is still incomplete for many, and our liberty bell still showing cracks of a state/nation born with the sin of slavery, assimilation of first nations peoples, of having to protest and ride for freedom and civil rights, and still intolerance, and fear, and hate towards those not like us, abounds in some circles, let the word go forth, that this generation of Americans, is not like the "me" generation, only concerned with self, greed, independence, but a new idea has taken root, of tolerance for all, a celebratory nature of our global diversity, and a step back from the world stage, where though but 300 million out of a world of 7 billion, we have done so much good, and yet, also failed at so much bad.

And fences To keep themselves in Inside That familiar place That comfort zone To ensure The homogeneousness of thought Sort of like a 1984 version Of the thought police To me Walls Hurt both sides Of the barrier For it leads to Stagnation Intolerance And an eventual dearth Of new ideas And eventually Failure To those Locked out And locked in To me Far greater success can be had By all On both sides of the barrier If the fences The walls Came down And we joined Our brethren And so on In unity

In sharing of ideas In celebrating what our differences are Rather than try to oppress them And to teach and learn From each other Rather than live In ignorance And fear Of what lies beyond That fence To me Fences Act as an unnatural barrier To development Of the mind, body, and soul For all peoples On both sides of the border Given this Why do we have Any fences left Anywhere On earth When all it does Is make losers Out of each of us Trapped On one side Or the other?

The Power Of No it is not religions that kill others it is stupid people being human that use ideology and religion as a way to legitimize their own offenses or worse make someone else do in their name what no human should do all those folks blowing themselves up all those folks shooting their very own people should learn to be tolerant

No war ever need be fought again if people everywhere on Earth choose life over death each and every day

The Divide: Unless you are exposed to a lifestyle growing up with surroundings like this, how is any politician in the United States whom grew up uber wealthy, ever going to fathom at all, what differences there are between the wealthy and the poor? To me, the idea of urban areas, of reservations, and of extremely poor communities, juxtaposed by wealthy, Nuevo rich elitism, on opposite ends of a lifestyle experience, is as absolutely unconstitutional as the idea of separate and equal was in schools in the 1950s, based upon race. Today we have a new form of social discrimination - one sanctioned by all in government whom do nothing about it, that of economic separation, that produces schools, communities, services, and lives, that are anything but equal. I have yet to see a single lawyer have the balls to bring to the US Supreme Court, a case that says schools and governments that are unequal due solely to economic wealth as being unconstitutional. Why a rich school should have the newest computers and Olympic size swimming pools, and a laptop for every student, while other schools in impoverished areas have outdated infrastructure, lack of a budget to even have pencils and paper for students, and access to extracurricular field trips to museums, or, even busing, I feel is as completely unconstitutional as separation and

unequal based upon race. Whether separate and unequal is race based or economic based to me is not the question - the answer to it is, there should be no difference in any students education no matter where they live or how rich or poor they are. Someone somewhere must stand up and make a change. School budgets that are managed based upon local assessed property values is unconstitutional in that it creates unequal distributions of surpluses or deficits. No school should get any more or any less from the government as its base level, maybe that will help fix the current educational problems. No kid anywhere should have to grow up knowing that someone somewhere else lives in a 5,000 square foot home, with 4 bathrooms, and a gated community, while others walk to school past burned out buildings, or abandoned factories. This form of discrimination cannot be fathomed until and unless those haves walk a mile in the shoes of the have-nots

Dedication:

To all whom educated me, either formally as in my teachers, my professors, my supervisors, my mentors, and so on, and those whom educated me informally, like my mom and dad, my friends, global events, local news, homelessness, poverty, violence, discrimination, racism, bigotry, intolerance, and so on. I see the world and dream like Kennedy why does the status quo have to go on, we all can make the change away from such old skool thinking, and truly become 21st century humans, living in peace. And to my 3,000 students, whom I ever taught you kept my flame lit with the passion to make a difference, not in my life, but in yours, so your dreams come true, and you learn to love learning, and make it a lifelong activity. If anything, I think we are all students here on Earth, struggling to learn the lessons of being humane in an inhumane world.
