The Moulin Rouge, a night club, a dance hall and a bordello, ruled over by Harold Zidler, a kingdom of night time pleasures where the rich and powerful came to play with the young and beautiful creatures of the underworld. The most beautiful of these was the one I loved, Satine, a courtesan. She sold her love to men. They called her the "Sparkling Diamond", and she was the star... of the Moulin rouge. The woman I loved is... dead. Christian (Moulin Rouge)

Love is defined in so many ways and there are so many ways on how to show your love and express it. But some would abuse the word Love. Why should the courtesan chose the penniless sitar player over the maharajah who is offering her a lifetime of security? That's real love. Once the sitar player has satisfied his lust he will leave her with nothing. I suggest that the courtesan chose the maharajah. Duke (Moulin Rouge) Like the Duke for instance, his feelings for Satine were not real, he defined or he believed that love is all about the security, money, fame, material possessions but never real love. He treated Satine as if she was one of his possessions or things. He believes that love can be taught that he could just satisfy Satine with his possessions and someday Satine would love him back.

According to Christian The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return. Love is the greatest thing that one can give. Material things in the world would be so useless that it would only perish. But eternal love stays in the heart and never be forgotten. Satine was made to believe that her worth was only something that someone could pay for, but Christian showed to her the real meaning of love, that love cannot be bought by any material possession in the world, that Love chooses no one, like a death that comes anytime. Its not just

about their status of living, their level or position but its about the love for each other, the acceptance. True love does not choose money, possessions, position, physical aspects, race, and religion, but love chooses the one that it deserves. In every love there would always hardships and trials and sometimes one would just to sacrifice like in the case of Satine, she chooses to lie for the sake of Christian so that Christian would not be killed. One would just choose to be hurt, to live a lie forever, and to live in regret just to protect the other and thats the essence of love that no material things can compare. Seasons may change, winter to spring... I love you 'til the end of time. Satine (Moulin Rouge) Everything may perish but the eternal love stays in the heart may never be forgotten.
