Kari Naal is generally considered as an inauspicious day in the State of Tamil Nadu, India.

All Tamil Hindus will avoid all days marked as Kari naal. There will no functions like marriiage, upanayanam, seemnadham, house warming ceremony etc. Also death on a particular kari naal day is considered as inauspicious and the purohits recommend special remedies to mitigate the dosha.. To be more specific there will be kari naal in each Tamil solar month. Kari naal is identified on the basis of a particular tithi meeting particular constellation or star on a particular week day. The Tamil astrology and almanacs mark 33 days in a solar (calendar) year as Kari naal. It is believed as local practice. The scholars of Tamil astrology say that there is no evidence about Kari Naal in the classic texts of Vedic Hindu astrology. The following table lists kari naal against each Tamil solar month: 1) Mesha, (Chithirai), mid-April to mid-May - (Two days) 6th and 15th of this month. 2) Rishabha, (Vaikasi) mid-May to mid-June - (Three days) 7th ,16th and 17th of this month. 3) Mithuna, (Aani) mid-June to mid-July - (Two days) 1st and 6th days of this month. 4) Karkataka (Aadi) mid-July to mid-August - (Three days) 2nd ,10th and 20th of this month. 5) Simha (Aavani) mid-August to mid-September - (Three days) 2nd ,9th and 28th of this month. 6) Kanya (Puratasi) mid-September to mid-October - (Two days) 16th and 29th of this month. 7) Tula (Aippasi) mid-October to mid-November - (Two days) 6th and 20th of this month. 8) Vrischika (Karthikai) mid-November to mid-December - (Three days) 1st ,10th and 17th of this month. 9) Dhanu (Markazhi) mid-December to mid-January Dhanu - (Three days) 6th ,9th and 11th of this month. 11) Kumbha (Masi) mid-February to mid-March - (Three days) 15th,16th and 17th of this month. 12) Meena (Pankuni), , mid-March to mid-April - (Three days) 6th, 15th and 19th of this month.

GOURI PANCHANGA A Gouri Panchanga Table has been prepared accordingly, presuming the Sun rise at 6'o clock. Depending upon the local Sun rise time, the Gouri Panchanga time needs to be adjusted

1. Amirth, Udthi, Labam, Suham, Danam are auspicious 2. Visha, Soram, Roham are inauspicious The Rahu kalam Table has been prepared accordingly, presuming the Sun rise at 6'o clock. Depending upon the local Sun rise time, the Rahu kalam time needs to be adjusted. Calculate the time between sunrise and sunset, and divide it in to 8 equal periods and calculate the rahu kalam period as below for your locality.

1. Rahu kalam is not an auspicious time for starting any new works. Any work started during rahu kalam ends up in problem and disappointment. 2. To perform durga puja in rahu kalam is very auspicious

YAMAKANDAM The YamaKanda Table has been prepared accordingly, presuming the Sun rise at 6'o clock. Depending upon the local Sun rise time, the yamakanda time needs to be adjusted. Calculate the time between sunrise and sunset, and divide it in to 8 equal periods and calculate the yamakanda period as given below for your locality.

1. Only death ceremonies can be performed during yamakandam 2. Any auspicious work started in yamakandam surely fails A Gulika Table has been prepared accordingly, presuming the Sun rise at 6'o clock. Depending upon the local Sun rise time, the Gulika time needs to be adjusted. Calculate the time between sunrise and sunset, and divide it in to 8 equal periods. The 7th part is gulika period on Sunday, 6th part is Gulika period on Monday etc. Calculate the Gulika period as below for your locality

1. Any activity carried out during gulika period will be repeated once again

2. Auspicious activities like building house, buying assets, vehicles can be performed 3. Marriage should not be conducted during this period. 4. The dead body should not be taken out of the house to the cremation ground during gulika HORA Each day has 24 Kala Horas, each hour constituting a Hora. Therefore, from the Sunrise, first one hour is being represented by the first Hora, which is always the Lord of the day. Thus on Sunday, the Sun rise starts with Sun Hora, Monday with Moon and so on. Consecutive Kalhoras were ruled by the lord of the respective 6th day. Therefore, the cycle will be in the order Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. A Hora Table has been prepared accordingly, presuming the Sun rise at 6'o clock. Depending upon the local Sun rise time, the Hora time needs to be adjusted. 1. If death has occurred on the above said stars, then dosha (blemish) is formed due to those stars. Hence close the house until the blemish period is over. Eg: if somebody dies on the Nakshatra Rohini, then close the house or the room for 4 months. Otherwise, it affects the happiness of the family members. 2. Even if the death has occurred outside the house, the house where the dead person lived should be closed If the house could not be closed, pour some sesame oil or gingili oil in a bronze bowl and place it in the place where the dead person spent his life in the house and donate it to the needy person.

1. Avoid starting your journey in the direction of thorn. Shula need not be seen for every journey. It can be seen while going for important works you concern very much about, signing important documents, marriage, very long journey etc 2. Shula dosha is present only up to certain period after sunrise. There is no blemish in starting our journey in a particular direction after the shula period is over. For Eg., you can start your journey towards west on Monday after 4hrs 48mins counting from sunrise. 3. In case of urgent works, you can travel after eating or distributing the remedy article. For e.g., eat jiggery or any other sweets made of jiggery as remedy and can start your journey towards west on Sunday during the shula period. Ie., 6.00am to 10.48am (considering sunrise to be at 6.00am)
