Warcha Salt Mines Warcha is locate north East of Quaidabad and falls in Khushab District.

It is connected with the country through Railway Line and Road Via Quaidabad. The distance of Warcha from Quaidabad through metalled road is 17.7 km and 13.6 km on railway line. Rails and road distance between warcha and Lahore are 391 km and 288 km respectively. Warcha (Rukhla) lays at Latitude 32 Deg 26 27 and longitude 71 Deg 57 07. Warcha appears at main southern bulge of central Salt Range. The distance of Warcha from Quiadabad via Sakaisar is 22 km and by own transport reached in 45 minutes but through local buses reached in one hour. Now government constructed a new road via gunjial mor and due to this road we can reached warcha within 30 minutes. It is wide and double road. By this road a beautiful scenery of Canal and green fields. Warcha was introduced during the British period to certain number of persons/families which is and impediment in modern times against management plans to concentrate salt production from few working and cut costs. The mining activities at Warcha are in operation since 1872. These mines were initially under the administrative control of Central Excise and Custom Department. Later on these mines were managed by WPIDC (West Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation) from 01.07.1962 to 30.06.1974. On bifurcation of WPIDC the Warcha Salt Mines Project was handed over to PMDC on 01.07.1974. When ever we went from Quaidabad via Gunjial mor saw a beautiful monuntains of white and Red Coulor from a long distance. A beautiful tomb of Syed JIND WADA SHAH GILLANI on the top of hill was seen, it was very beautiful location for tourists. When we reached near Warcha here a Chemical plant was working with its full potential. It was constructed by Olympia Chemical Ltd. Hundreds of worker do work in this factory. Some hotels were full of worker and employee of factory soaring tea. It is good sight for tourist and can enjoy here. In this factory salt is used to make Sodha Ash, and visitors can see how this process happened. From Olympia factory at 10 minutes distance we reached Warcha Satt mines Main office. Near the office we sew a lot of salt on sides of road. A many trucks full of salt standing here and some were waiting for loading salt. Some shops and hotels were there. Tourists can see beautiful culture of these people. We take some rest here and take a cup of tea with hot Jalaibi. Then we went into the main Salt mines which is known as Khawa with guider. At entrance of mine we feet a cool air in even in hot season. Guider told us that in cold season it become hot by naturally. Initially a small train went inside to takeout salt from mine to outside. Track was there. Now train services has closed and trucker trails go inside and loaded with salt. In side was a darkness but were provided electric tourch for light. Initially worker used gas silder for light, but now electric facilities have been provided in the mine. We saw a beautiful Mosque here which was constructed with salt. In the mine there were we saw a lot caves by which salt was taken by workers. In the mine temperarture was very cool. Workers were beasuiy to their work and here we heard sound of blasts which were blast by worker to broken a big rocks of salt. The length of mine was more then kilometer. We enjoy a lot of time and came out to going other mines. Some other mines were their which working and providing salt. To go these mines we took the photohar jeep by PMDC office because the way of was very difficult. It was a full of danger water was passing through the way. Here a beautiful mountains cover the road throughout. On the way we saw many tracktor tralies full of salt coming from mines.

The road was very narrow even two vehicle cross with very danger. We saw many ladies of local residency and collecting woods for their home and stove burning. Some people were grazing their cows and goats. After 30 minutes tough journey we reached the mines there were many mines. We went into mines saw salt in its origion form. Now we were in the stomach of salt and were enjoy. Here were beautiful scenes of volley which was covered mountain. A lot of green trees were there and people were doing their daily routine works. On mountain we saw a lot of ways with ups and down. On these ways it was difficult to walk. After a lot of enjoy we return to main office of PMDC. Then we took our vehicle and return to Quaidabad. It was beautiful place for tourists to visit in Pakistan.
