Avoiding Hearing Damage
This product respects the current regulations for limiting the output volume of consumer audio devices to a safe level. By listening to
your device with headphones or earbuds at high volumes, you run the risk of permanent damage to your ears. Even if you get used

TROUBLESHOOTING
Charging: Whenever your ARCHOS is connected to a running computer, it will charge automatically
(even l you unmount lt wlth the sae remova| lcon -- see 'Llsconnectlng the 'AkCHOS' be|ow).
Connecting: When you connect the USB cable to your computer, the ARCHOS will connect as
an externa| hard drlve. vlndows Lxp|orer wl|| show lt as ARCHOS (E:) or examp|e. lor Mac
computers, lt wl|| a|so appear as an externa| hard drlve.
1he vldeo p|ayer requlres that your vldeo |e be o a speclc ormat ln order to be ab|e to p|ay. A
converter application for Windows computers is available in the folder Software on the ARCHOS
that can be lnsta||ed on your computer. lt wl|| convert most vldeo |es lnto the speclca||y requlred
ormat. Convert your vldeo |es to a reso|utlon o 128 x 128 wlth your computer uslng thls sot-
ware before copying them to the ARCHOS.
PROBLEM: 1he muslc |e ls not vlslb|e ln the |lbrary or cannot p|ay when l se|ect lt ln the |e browser.
SOLUTION: Make sure you put all your music in the folder named Music. Not all music formats are readable.
1he AkCHOS can p|ay Ml3, vMA, vAv, lLAC, and AlL |e types. l lt ls an M4A type |e (typlca||y rom Macln-
tosh computers), it will need to be converted to one of the above formats before being able to play.
PROBLEM: 1he devlce ls rozen and doesn't respond to presslng on the buttons.
SOLUTION: Press the reset button on the back by inserting the end of a paper clip into the hole.
PROBLEM: I would like to charge my device with the PC but listen to it at the same time.
SOLUTION: y 'removlng sae|y' the devlce as exp|alned above, but not unp|ugglng the US cab|e, you can use
your ARCHOS product while it charges. This charge and listen function is not possible with Windows Vista or
Windows 7 computers.
PROBLEM: I added new music to my ARCHOS but it does not show up in the Music browser.
SOLUTION: ou must p|ace your |es ln the Music folder on the ARCHOS. If it does not have music tags, it will
be listed under <Other>. Select Update Library (bottom item on list) which will update the Library with all the
latest added music.
PROBLEM: l cannot see a |e that l |ust copled to my AkCHOS.
SOLUTION: kemember that when you are browslng ln the Muslc or lhoto o|ders, the |es that are not o those
types will not be visible - even though they are there. Use the Files browser to see a|| your |es.
ou can transer your medla |es to the AkCHOS elther by copy/pastlng them lnto the respectlve
o|ders uslng vlndows Lxp|orer (or the llnder on a Maclntosh), or by uslng vlndows Medla l|ayer.
1he Synchronlze button ln vlndows Medla l|ayer ls a one way 'sync' button. lt wl|| add muslc and
photo |es to your AkCHOS. lt wl|| glve you the posslbl|lty to have the same dlglta| medla on your
ARCHOS as you have in your Windows Media Player library.
On your computer, start Windows Media Player. 1) Select the Sync tab. 2) Lrag the medla |es you
want to transfer into the sync area in the panel on the right. 3) Click on the Start Sync button. The
selected videos, songs or photos will be copied directly into the corresponding Video, Music or Pictures
folder of the ARCHOS. See your Windows Media Player help instructions for more information. To
receive and play podcasts, you can use freely available software from the Internet such as the popular
Juice program to get your podcasts and then you can transfer them to your ARCHOS.

To use the radio, you must have the headphones plugged in as this acts as your antenna. You can
create radio presets, scan for stations, or record what is currently playing by pressing the m button
and making your selection.
DISCONNECTING THE ARCHOS FROM A COMPUTER
Once a|| your |e transers are nlshed, c|osevlndows Lxp|orer and any other programthat may
have read or wrltten to the AkCHOS. C|lc| on the 'sae|y remove' lcon ln the system tray, next to
the clock.
Before removing the cable, you will notice the state of the battery charge. If the icon has three
solid bars, this means the battery is completely charged. If they are blinking, it means the battery
is still charging. You can leave the device to fully charge or unplug the cable and use the ARCHOS
with a partial charge.

Opening the music browser will allow you to choose
your music by the title, artist, album, or genre (so long

FM RADIO
Opening the photo browser will allow you to view
the stored photos one by one or as an automatic slide
show. Hlgh|lght the deslred photo |e, then press OK
to view it. Press the Right and Left buttons to view the
next or prevlous photo. lress the OK button to start a
s|lde show. lress OK agaln to stop the s|lde show. 1he
speed of the slideshow can be adjusted through the
settings.

Slideshow Pause: Allows you to set the length of time between images shown dur-

Display: Allows you to set the Brightness (the screen brightness), Backlight Time
(how long before the screen goes off or dims) and the Backlight Mode (determines if the
screen goes dim or off - to save battery power)
Auto shutoff: Sets the continuous playing time before the player is turned off auto-
matically.
Language: Allows you to set your interface language

DESCONEXIN DEL ARCHOS DE UN ORDENADOR

Una vez na|lzadas todas |as transerenclas de archlvos, clerre e| Lxp|orador de vlndows y cua|-
quier otro programa que pueda haber ledo o escrito en el ARCHOS. Haga clic en el icono Quitar
hardware con seguridad de la bandeja del sistema, junto al reloj.
Antes de extraer e| cab|e, ver e| estado de carga de |a baterla. Sl e| lcono tlene tres barras s|ldas,

navegador de archivos.
SOLUCIN: Asegurese de poner toda |a muslca en |a carpeta Music. No todos |os ormatos de muslca se pueden
leer. El ARCHOS puede reproducir archivos de tipo MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC y APE. Si se trata de un archivo de tipo
M4A (norma|mente de ordenadores Maclntosh), se deber convertlr a uno de |os anterlores ormatos para poder
reproducirlo.
PROBLEMA: El dispositivo se bloquea y no responde al pulsar los botones.
SOLUCIN: lu|se e| botn de relnlclo en |a parte de atrs lnsertando e| extremo de un c|lp en e| agu|ero.
PROBLEMA: Me gustarla cargar e| dlsposltlvo con e| lC mlentras escucho muslca con |.
SOLUCIN: Slgulendo e| procedlmlento de "desconexln segura" de| dlsposltlvo exp|lcado anterlormente, pero
sin desconectar el cable USB, podr escuchar su producto ARCHOS mientras se carga. Esta funcin de carga y
escucha no es posible con ordenadores con sistema operativo Windows 7 o Windows Vista.
PROBLEMA: Se ha anadldo muslca nueva a| AkCHOS, pero no aparece en e| navegador de muslca.
SOLUCIN: Lebe poner |os archlvos en |a carpeta Muslc de| AkCHOS. Sl no dlspone de etlquetas de muslca,
aparecer enumerada en <Other>. Seleccione Refrescar biblioteca de medios (elemento inferior de la lista) para
actua|lzar |a blb|loteca con |a u|tlma muslca anadlda.
PROBLEMA: No se ve un archivo que se acaba de copiar en el ARCHOS.
SOLUCIN: Recuerde que cuando navegue en las carpetas Music o Pictures, los archivos que no sean de esos tipos
no se vern, aunque se encuentren ah. Utilice el navegador de archivos para ver todos los archivos.

apaga), y el modo de retroiluminacin [Modo Lum] (determina si la pantalla se pone
oscura o apagado - para ahorrar batera)
Power Off: Ajusta el tiempo de reproduccin continua antes de que el reproductor
se apague automticamente.

en |a mayorla de este requerlmlento especlco de ormato. Convierta sus archivos de vdeo a reso-
|ucln 128 x 128 con su ordenador, utl|lzando este sotware, antes de coplar|os en su AkCHOS.
