Criteria for Assessment Literature Review Assignment 3: Individual Assignment Literature Review (40%)
(up to 3,500 words, excluding references and appendices) A literature review is an account of what has been published on a topic (in books, periodical articles, websites, and other relevant sources) by accredited scholars and researchers. In this assignment, you have to choose a particular topic of interest (in the area of international management), synthesize your literature into a summary of what is and is not known on the topic. Internet sources may be listed as well, but it must come from electronic peer-reviewed sources or reputable international organizations. It will also include a concise summary of some of the main debates and positions discussed in the literature. A good literature review will have the following elements:

An overview of the subject, issue or theory under consideration, along with the objectives of the literature review; The link(s) with the industrial interview; Division of works under review into categories (e.g. those in support of a particular position, those against, and those offering alternative theses entirely); Key ideas (similarities/differences) from the literature; Criticisms and conclusions as to which pieces are considered best in their argument, are most convincing of their opinions, and make the greatest contribution to the understanding and development of their area of research

Topic for the literature review should be base on the issues related to (management of) international and/or local challenges, problems or potentials of the industry (or organization). Although the choice of topic for the review is flexible, it is recommended that you discuss the topic with your tutor/lecturer. Note that plagiarism the use of others words and ideas without attribution is considered a serious offence, and can result in failure for the course.

Due Date: Full paper must be submitted by 16 May 2010 (week 12) via Tii (Turn it in).

Criteria
1) Significance of Issue: Issue is significant in International Management, shows clear understanding of selected topic. 2) Question/Problem of the review: Demonstrate clear Questions/Problems that link to the body of the literature 3) Analytic Ability: Demonstrate ability to analyse situation from the literature by using proper International Management theories 4) Formulation of Ideas and Use of arguments: Ideas are generated from reading various sources in International Management, arguments are logical and academic 5) Summary from the literature: Summarize key points from the literature and compare/contrast findings or results from various literature in International Management 6) Quality of resources: Quality of selected resources, academic journals and non-academic journals. 7) Criticism of the literature: Quality of the criticism on the body of literature. Sharpness, logic, and accuracy of the academic criticism 8) Writing Style: Demonstrate proper academic writing style, flow of logic, rhetoric and key ideas 9) References: Demonstrate proper academic referencing style, spelling, accuracy of the referencing systems 10Conclusion: Structure and organization of the review reflect a good learning and understanding of selected topic.
