Ateneo de Manila University - Loyola Schools Admission Procedure

1. Obtain an application form at the Office of Graduate Services, or print the downloadable version of the Application and Recommendation Forms at http://www.ateneo.edu and pay the fees upon filing your application. The Application Fee is P 100. 2. Fill out and submit the forms together with the other requirements (see separate list) as soon as possible to the Office of Graduate Services. 3. The applicant is required to take the entrance tests. The applicant is scheduled for testing after filing his/her application. Provincial testing is available on specific dates at some of the Jesuit schools. The testing fees and the list of provincial test centers are shown below: Testing Fees Regular January to March 2005

B. CHED Requirements
(Upon Application) __ 1. CHED Scholarship Application Form with 2 pcs. 2x2 ID picture (plus list of degree programs offered by the sending institution and latest enrollment figures, if needed) __ 2. Chairpersons/Deans Recommendation to Accompany Initial Application __ 3. Certification from the School Head (refer to item 1 of the Application Processing Procedure) __ 4. Teaching Load __ 5. Rehiring Agreement (for contractual faculty) (Before Enrollment) __ 6. National Statistics Office authenticated birth certificate __ 7. Sealed health certificate issued by a government physician - plus results of the following examinations issued within the last six months: x-ray, complete blood count, urinalysis, fecalysis __ 8. NBI or Police Clearance issued within the last six months __ 9. Justification for applicants over 47 years of age __10. Scholarship Contract (signed by Head of Sending Institution & Grantee) - 5 original signed copies __11. Co-Maker Undertaking (signed by spouse or relative) - 2 notarized original signed copies; and copy of Co-Makers ITR (to be submitted yearly for the duration of the scholarship) __12. Letter requesting for transportation allowance (for those living a minimum distance of 50 kms. from the DHEI) __13. Photocopy of Community Tax Certificate

4. The applicant may be interviewed by the Chair of the department. The interview is scheduled after the applicant has filed his / her admission papers and taken the entrance tests. 5. Admission notices and registration forms for new students are issued by the Office of Graduate Services. 6. The accepted applicant is given one month after the start of classes to submit the following admission credentials:
Original undergraduate and graduate transcript of records bearing the original signature of the Registrar and school seal. Transcripts from Philippine schools should contain the notation, Copy for the Ateneo de Manila University Loyola Schools Transfer Credential / Honorable Dismissal issued by the school where the applicant was last enrolled effective upon the applicants initial enrollment in Graduate Studies Special Order Number and Certificate of Graduation (as needed)

Master in Information Technology


Requirement: Background in any of the ff. disciplines or their related fields: computer science, computer engineering, electronics & communications engg, mathematics 42 units course work (includes 12 units undergraduate foundation courses) To be completed in 3 summers & 4 semesters Application Deadline: Summer March 17, 2006

Not more than 47 years old; Willing to render the required service obligation; and No masters degree in the priority field applied for.

Application Processing Procedure


1. Applicant first secures admission to the Ateneo de Manila UniversityLoyola Schools. Upon admission, applicant submits the following papers to the contact person: Accomplished application form for grant with information on current teaching load and employment status of faculty; Chairpersons recommendation approved by the SHEI Head (Deans level and above) with the following certifications: (i) employment status (indicate if full-time regular or contractual/ probationary) (ii) availability of a position for the Grantee upon completion of the program corresponding to the Grantees newly acquired qualification; (iii) that Grantee has no pending administrative charges and other scholarship being enjoyed; (iv) in case of contractual faculty, Rehiring Agreement stating the commitment of the SHEI to rehire the faculty to return service after completion of the degree. 2. Ateneo forwards to the CHED the papers of applicants who pass the admission requirements. 3. CHED evaluates and approves the final list of qualified applicants and informs the Ateneo. 4. Applicants approved by CHED must submit the following documents to the contact person and enroll at the Ateneo: 4.1 NSO authenticated birth certificate; 4.2 Medical certificate issued by a government physician with results of the following, issued within the last six months: (i) x-ray, (ii) complete blood count, (iii) urinalysis, (iv) fecalysis; 4.3 NBI or Police Clearance issued within the last six months; 4.4 Accomplished Scholarship Contract and Co-Maker Undertaking.

M.A. major in English Language & Literature Teaching


36 units course work with one 3-unit course requiring an oral presentation and a 20-page academic paper, comprehensive exams To be completed in 4 summers & 1 semester for the summersonly/mainly program Application Deadlines: Summer March 17, 2006 First Semester May 5, 2006 Second Semester September 29, 2006

M.A. in Political Science major in Global Politics


Requirement: A.B. Political Science or equivalent 36 units course work, comprehensive exams, oral exams To be completed in 6 semesters & 1 summer Application Deadlines: First Semester May 5, 2006 Second Semester September 29, 2006
Notes:
1. 2. Courses will be delivered on-campus. After the deadlines, applicants may check with the Office of Graduate Services or the department if slots are still available for admission for that term. Students from distant places are advised to take the Summers only/mainly programs or apply for the limited full-time scholarship slots. Interested faculty members are advised to file their applications as early as possible.

M.A. major in Economics


Requirement: Any undergraduate degree provided applicant has taken 1 semester each in calculus and economics 36 units: 33 units course work, compre-hensive exams, 3 units special topics research report To be completed in 6 semesters & 1 summer Application Deadlines: First Semester May 5, 2006 Second Semester* September 29, 2006 (*only for those who need to take undergraduate pre-requisites)

Full-time faculty member in any of CHEDs priority Sending Higher Education Institutions (SHEI); Currently teaching in a public or private college or university in any of CHEDs priority fields for this faculty development program; Good academic record; Filipino citizen; In good health. No pending criminal/administrative charges and must not have been convicted for violation of any Philippine law;
